  • In search for a good replacement !

    Hey Guys....

Ive been researching a lot on replacing my good ol Pulsar 180.... the bike has served me well with great power and handling but Im in the market to get just that lil more oomph on my daily commute.

So far these bikes have peaked my interest :
    • Yamaha R 15 V.20 (Great Looks, Priced Rs 1.3 L on road Mumbai)
    • KTM Duke 200 (Beastly Looks, Priced Rs. 1.4 L on road Mumbai)
    • Pulsar 200NS (Sporty, Price unknown)
    • Karizma ZMR (Incredible Bulk lol, Priced 1.16 L on Road Mumbai)

My delima starts here,.... I love to race my bike,... from my research, all the bikes have similar top ends ,... the engine capacities range from a 150 to 225 here ... thus the fuel consumption will def differ... Im looking for a thrilling ride with a bike that looks good and yet will not be a pain on a long drive (trips of 200kms one way)

What do you think would be the best pic amongst the options ?
(Love to hear about maintenance and spares, fuel consumption, ride quality and over all biking comfort & pleasure)

    Thanx in advance !

No offences but if u want a comfortable bike then you should add CBR 150R
As far as the reviews are concerned, its seems good & comfortable bike no problem in seating & handing is also good.

But for R15 V2.0 its always love at first sight. I hope many people will agree to this. Its sexy

        Change the filter ASAP!
Even you can do it, if not ask a local mech to do it.

I wonder you booked it 3 days after the release! You got a nice name of the bike itself. Got in in a month, and still you couldn't ride.. Thats sad bro!
This job and stuff takes everything away..

@all, to day i was taking a small u turn {not cornering}, was in second gear, while turning i shifted to first gera and left the clutch and when i accelerated to my surprise the bike was in neutral and lost ba\lance because of loss of power to the acceleration, now i did not fall but the bike was about to fall to the right so kept it down n lifted it up. guys this neutral gear problem is been there from the first service, whenever i come to standstill and try to go to 1st from 2nd gear, it gets stuck to neutral :@ its very dangerous sometimes on the road. any suggestions on this?
You have to tap a bit.. A gentle push between 1st and 2nd, makes the bike go in neutral. I mean its a machine, doesn't understand, and thats sad!

Its completely city driving, no highway cruising. Completed 380kms on the ODO. Due for 1st service on 16th May. Might complete 500kms till then.

I have a question to you guys. I m not considering installing HID's as it is very expensive for me right now, so planning to go for 55W lights. So any suggestions which one would be better. And do i need to upgrade my battery to do so?

pulsar 200NS not yet kissed the roads so no comments. but will say that if you are a die hard fan pf pulsar series then go for it, decent pricing, i hope so good FE, good loooks and good seating.
KTM- awesome machine. not best for touring. less FE compared to others.
Karizma- as you said, its very bulky. good bike for that price. good for touring also i guess.
R15- not for everyone. awesome machine again. decent FE. good power and best looks in its class. did a recent trip and it was really good.

now you have to make a list in which you write down wat all are you expecting from the bike. then decide.

State of both sprockets (front and back) and chain cleanliness and lube conditions...all affects gear changes. Believe me when i say this. I clean both sprockets and clean/lube the chain every 400-500 kms, and i never have gear shift problems. That said, there is a bit of effort needed for downshifting from second to third as you have to skip the neutral gear slot. Get a fair bit of understanding and practice and you too will definitely be avoiding the problem.

            • Thinking of an upgrade soon !!!

Its just been 20 days since i have had the beast with me . I have already started to plan for a performance upgrade. Things in my mind .

1> K&N Conical . (Post 5k kms on the odo)
2> Custom ECU . Would need details on the ECU .. also where can i find in it in mumbai
3> Lastly leo vince either carbon or the cobra style exhaust

I know its tooooo early to even start thinkin on a mod with just 1200 kms on the odo. I am just starting to plan and will probably execute them post 5k on the odo .
If anyone has a better tip please do help arnd .

Slipon exhausts would only add to the sound, the difference in power would be negligible.

Just worried about Conical K&N. You have replacement filters from Simota and K&N that can be directly plonked without tampering the intake duct. Do your homework before going for mods.

                      • Hi all,

Today bought motul coolant, lube and clean at Sri Motors, Chennai.

                        Rate:
                        Motul Lube - 445.41
                        Motul Clean- 419.21
                        Motul Coolant -288.21
                        VAT - 167.16
                        Total -1319.99

This is just for your information, because i struggled a lot to get motul products in chennai.
Please advice me whether it is a worth buy or I have over spent...

The bike has low beam only for one side, i,e left side from the stock. when in high beam both lights are lit. the single low beam can be converted to double side too. donno why yamaha did that weird though.

                              • Guys, when I accelerate the bike, even at low speeds, I'm hearing some sort of hissing sound from the front side. This wasn't there before, and started sounding from a KMs before. Can anyone please tell me what it is? Any idea?
