Well my knowledge is that the bike has an high revving engine and my friends at the R15 championship says they change the gears at 12k rpm(ofcourse daytona ECU) and the bike is still running perfectly... One of them has crossed 50k kms recently without any niggles and his riding are 50% race track and 50% city and highway combined....Originally posted by TeeJayy View Post

Recently I am doing a lot of travelling on the highway at night and I feel that the headlights are just not good enough.
So i want to replace them with 55w lamps from OSARM/Phllips but I dont know where to buy them from in Pune and where to get them fixed.
So can someone help me out in this?
I am ready to buy online as well.
Also is there any way to know if the radiator fan is working?
I mean that when the bike was new (before completeing run in) it used to kick in frequently, but know even after riding 27kms on the highway at 100+ kmph, it doesnt kick in...Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020

Radiator fan works before 1k kms because the engine is very new. It sometimes never work if the engine is in perfect condition even if you go 500kms at 100kmph.
It frequently works if there is any coolant leak, coolant pipe block or if its running out of coolant. In that case , the high temperature icon in the meter should also lit up. So, no worry.

The radiator fan will never kick n if u go at 100kmph speed irrespective of the distance covered, because at that speed a blast of air would be passing through the radiator which is more than enough for it to cool.Originally posted by hellgate View PostRecently I am doing a lot of travelling on the highway at night and I feel that the headlights are just not good enough.

Dude the message was that when you have a rev limiter kicking in at 10.5K RPM, its better for the engine that you yourself shift just before the rev limiter.Originally posted by Ivin View PostWell my knowledge is that the bike has an high revving engine and my friends at the R15 championship says they change the gears at 12k rpm(ofcourse daytona ECU) and the bike is still running perfectly... There is no challenging the fact that the engine is rev happy and holds good at higher RPMS

Its annoying to look in the meter rather than concentrating on the road at those high speeds.Originally posted by TeeJayy View PostDude the message was that when you have a rev limiter kicking in at 10.5K RPM, its better for the engine that you yourself shift just before the rev limiter.

After a long time..
You are kidding right?Originally posted by RedFlash View PostNeed Help guys : What is Run-In period and max rpm in run-in ?
Umm.. Not bad, but not good as well. Under 5K, you should have got atleast 40+ during the run-in. I mean not compulsory, but people have got this figure.Originally posted by r_c111 View PostYeah 500 for all that you mentioned.
Mine was 0.8kms
Well my bike ran for 203 kms on 5.5 liters of petrol. So fe comes around 36.9. Is it bad, i haven't ripped it but 80-85% driving was in city & rest on highways. Have to try the full tank method now.
If you are saying, this is due to bumper- bumper traffic, avoid stressing the engine!
You can change the color, but do notify your dealer, if its a small one. What if he orders black, and later you want blue. you might need to wait more as well.Originally posted by powermatrix View PostGuys ,
I have a doubt .I booked R15 V2.0 black color , the salesman told 1 or 2 weeks for delivery , suppose if i dont want black color and i want another color of bike before delivery , can i change it by telling to him ?
BTW , anyone in this thread from Chennai and booked R15 V 2 from Ambal Motors , Purasaiwalkam ?
Many say the , Yamaha Logo from the bike would be stolen and thats a problem , and some suggested to use Teflon coating to the bike ..plz say whats the use of it and also about Wax polishing , can i do both ?
Yep. That logo is on the list of many..
Upto you! Many of us have changed it earlier and dont regret, except for some few bucks spent! Btw the executive over there is like we use semi synthetic for r15 ??
Is it true ??

R15 V 2.0 comes with factory filled semi synth.
Thats rim weights!Originally posted by vzuwOw View PostGuys has any one of you found this metal thing on their front wheel rim?
One of my friend told you shouldnt have baught this bike because the allignment of the front wheel rims were disturbed and hence the metal thing is added.
I had baught this bike like on 26th April 2012 and i had seen that metal thing on it but didnt had any mechanic knowledge about it so i ignored it.
Please suggest me what should i do?
Should i tell them to repalce my tyre or is it normal?

Now thats something! Rev limiter on the top gear! I can only dream of the straights you had got to sustain at that engine speeds..Originally posted by suraj_vanse View PostThe bike is so stable even at those speeds. The rev limiter kicked in exactly at 151 kmph in 6th gear and i had much more of the open road but i was getting the jerk,Damn that was something i could not believe.

.This speed was reached by crouching fully and also the road was slightly downhill

1. I didnt notice it. Infact I feel a second punch at 9000 RPM (may be its only me)Originally posted by [IN]BeTrayedxD View PostHey Guys , This is a comparison between CBR 150 r and R15 V 2.0
Honda CBR 150 vs YAMAHA R15 | throttlers.net
My Major doubt -
1.In that Review , they have said R15 V 2.0 Engine sleeps after 8,500 RPM ( I mean it struggles ) Is that so ?
2. They said they clocked 130 km/hr on the Speedo between 8,500 RPM . I just wanted to know , what will be the speed of R15 V2.0 @ 8,500 RPM ?
3. They said they clocked 100 km/hr in 3 rd gear . Why not , The rev limiter for the CBR 150 r is 11,500 RPM ( i guess ) and R15 V2.0 clocked 92 km/hr in third gear .
4. They said ( You can comfortably cruise at 70-80 kph in topgear but still has enough juice to reach a 130-140 kmph without downshifting. ) R15 V2.0 can't do this ? or it needs a downshift or it takes more time than CBR 150 r )
5. Honda CBR engine revs quickly than R15 V2.0 . May i know , How ?
I request you guys to clear my doubts
Cheers S.V.Pasad
2. I had tried this last time I read this, but I guess it'll be around 115 with a pillion, and ~120 solo (Heavy ass on board
).. (Dont rev at me, I dont remember exactly, but slightly what I can recall)
3.Exactly.. Mine goes to 92 in 3rd.
4. Even R15 can do 125+ solo, but I dont know the effects on the engine!
Hell, my RX does 20- 100 in top gear!
5. Its a short stroke motor! Hence revs quicker. (Thats what I've read)
1. By this time, you must have ridden her a lot.Originally posted by [IN]BeTrayedxD View PostGuys , I'm still waiting for May 2nd , to take her for a ride . Till now 18 km's clocked on the ODO .
1. Before taking her for a ride , should i Replace the Engine Oil + oil filter ? I din't get my manual yet . So could you mention the Brand name and Type .
2. I have planned to change Engine oil + oil filter @ 500 km's , 1000 km's , 1500 km's , 3000 km's and the rest regarding the Service manual . By maintaining proper Run in and by doing this process will this ensures a increase in engine performance and Bike's health ?
3. Can any one of you tell me what is the minimum content of octane is needed for the R15 V 2.0 and May i know where can i fill petrol ? Shell super unleaded or Bharath petroleum normal Petrol ?
PS - Guys , as you already discussing about what Engine oil can be used . Even i went through Mr. Abhimanyu LINK , but still i'm under confusion !! So please help me
Cheers S.V.Prasad
2. Yes it will.
3. Normal petrol is just fine. The compression ratio is not that huge. Still premium petrol is what many of us prefer here.
Use semi synth. and FS later if you keep her on higher revs, and can afford!Money can get a 1942 BSA these days, but even Warren Buffet's whole Bank account can't get us our leg back!

Yeah, even I get a strange noise at that range.. need to check..Originally posted by arun.bk View Posthey fellow mates...i just thought of putting up my experience with r15 v2...brought home a LE on 31/1/12 and its been 3 months and completed an odo of 7500 kms...
Before giving it for 3rd service i came to notice the strange vibration noise that occurs btwn an rpm range of 6k-7k. i mentioned tht to service eng but instead of resolving the prob nw the sound is there right down from 5k-7k rpm. for me it sounds like its from the timing chain but am confused whether it gets loosen up that fast?....i usually do long ride of 300kms in a month and cruise around a speed of 100-120 at highways..wil that make the cause for prob??. does anyone gt the same issue here?...looking forward for a helpful reply
Also the vibration from the front fairing has been considerably increased in time..what should i do to reduce it..plz help
Even I ride at 100- 120 for 80+ kms..
Buddy, when I rode twice w/o gloves, I could feel the pain. With gloves, its normal.. The palm is not strained, thats why, may be.Originally posted by zakisback View PostHai sir am Using R15 V1. As the V1 and V2 are true sports stance bike both have forward lean position. Because of that any one will get wrist pain in long run. Trust me Bro Gloves can eradicate the issue. I do lot of touring and rides. to eradicating the back pain in long rides you can use a backpack which is mildly heavy( say max 4Kgs).
Any reason for SS-> FS..??Originally posted by DrVENOM View PostYIKES ! Was a bit busy with work. Had no time to log-in. Just realized that mods had to clean up some of the posts here. Including mine. Sorry mods. Sorry for causing trouble.
On a different note. Approaching 5K on the odo. Finding that the semi-synth isn't cutting enough for me. Gonna go fully synth from this service onwards. The front damping has lost its edge. The front isn't as stable as before. The front tires seems to be floating, when cornering. Have to check it up in SVC in the coming service. Anybody can hint what exactly could be wrong?
The front end prob is concerning..
Yeah. Even I hear the disc scuffing sound. Its been 2000 kms now.. I think I get it from the rear disc.Originally posted by suraj_vanse View PostI too have the same problem. havent had a fall till date but dono what mite be wrong. When parked on centre stand and when i rotate the front wheel i hear the disk sound only at particular places and i also noticed that the tire was wobbling a little.
. I too have little difficulties while cornering.
Yamaha expects the riders to be good at riding, and hence some basic stuff is not included in R15. Its OK! After some days, you wont need it! Get used to it bud..Originally posted by rohanparekh View PostOne thing I really dont like about Yamaha is they didnt give side stand alarm/alert light !
So if i want to install it externally can I ?
Have you calculated this way, or tank full or reserve method?Originally posted by [IN]BeTrayedxD View PostV2 owners
I have completed 210 km's on ODO .. Checked the mileage , i'm getting 35 km/liter ( with pillion from day 1 ) '3' points vanished while it showed 210 km on Trip - 1 . The rides included 140 km city rides ( bumper - bumper traffic ) and 70 km's highway ride . Petrol filled - Shell Super unleaded ( Shell bunk @ Chrompet )
Yeah! Ripping the guts out, and getting 35 is great!Originally posted by jeyessh View Postjust completed 10300 kms

The road beyond Shirsad naka is a bliss!Originally posted by nughty_guy77 View PostHi guys ,,,
With 740 kms done on the odo ..
Let me start with the Negetives :-
1> I could feel a lot a vibrations on my was back home with speeds close to 90 - 100 ..
2> the headlights were completely useless . May be it requires some setting or i need to change the bulb .. If anyone facing the same issue please advice wat u did ?
3> The seats were very hard and were uncomfortable at times.
Now the Positives :-
1> The bike pulls away like an rocket in hand ..
2> I loved the riding position on the open stretch .. ( personal preference .. Even i complained on the riding position when i bought the bike at first .. May be cause of the city riding conditions . but on the highway its fun )
3> The all famous handling was spot on .. And made me love the bike again and again.
4> The brakes spot on dead ..very crisp ..
Have fun
I took a couple of S long sweep turns there at 120+ with a pillion!

Naah.. Something not right buddy!Originally posted by vivekdev View PostHi Guys,
I need advices and suggestions from R 15 owners. I have been to lot of rides ever since i bought the new R 15. While i am ridin alone i can cross 100-120 kmph very easily. But when i am riding with a pillion, it is very hard to touch even 100 kmph!No matter how hard i rev, it just struggle to reach the 100 kmph mark.
One of my frens has R15 version 1, and he can touch 130kmph with pillion.
Now is this because of the extra weight tht my bike will struggle to reach 100 kmph mark or is it because there is not enough power to pull two persons weight to a high speed?
I could go 120+ easily and take some awesome turns, leaning her with a pillion..
Try gradual acceleration, and shift at higher revs..
