    Hi all,

Top speed till now: 128 km/hr on odo. (Chennai bypass)

Hey ya . As discover said , you have violated the Run-In period . In my words , you have semi Raped her . You say you have never crossed 8 k RPM . But my question is without crossing 8 K RPM how did you hit 128 Km/hr on speedometer ?

Anyways , don't worry , i guess all things will turn to normal during 1st service . And while taking her to the service , ask Mr.Suresh ( Service manager ) to check whether any of the BOLTS or SCREWS are loose and ask them to tight them .

    Cheers S.V.Prasad

However, I'm a bit confused on the type of oil to be used. The manual says to use 20w40 or 20w50 semi-synthetic oil, but some of you guys stated over here to use the mineral one.

So which type should I go for, to keep the engine in good condition? Thanks in advance
To be frank Any engine oil, be it mineral,be it SS , be it FS will keep your bikes engine in a good condition provided you change at regular intervals. Some of them say mineral should not be used till 5000 km and some say bike comes with Semi synth factory filled . some of them start using fully synthetic from the start and are happy with it.At the end of the day its just your choice. If your still very confused ,just go with mineral,It will just do fine.

Very helpful info from many of you guys. Will be changing oil & filter after 500kms. They charged around 508/-

Stick with what the manual says .. Yamalube SS it is ... FS before 5000 is a very bad idea ...

I would say, stick with mineral till 1500kms and then switch over to semi synthetic... Don't go for fully synthetic til after 10,000kms... Good luck with your new bike!!!

P.s. what's the review on yamalube 15W/50 ss oil? I'm using it on my ninja right now, was wondering what you guys feel about it's quality etc... I think it's the same oil that goes into the R15...

I crossed 200 kms not 500. I got the oil & oil filter changed at Excellent Yamaha service centre at MIDC, Andheri bcoz it is very close to my place. I used mineral oil, the SVC guys were telling me to go for SS but i told i won't opt for it till 1000kms. You don't need to have the manual or service booklet for just oil change. Oil change costed me around 500/-RS

                      • this question is for experienced riders.

this question is for experienced riders.

i did my first service on 21st march, it was 250 odd Kms on the ODO. changed oil and filter and topped coolant.

now my bike is run total of 1700 kms. my next service is due on may end. Yesterday went for a ride of 330 odd Kms, ripping, riding at 100+ most of the times and sometimes redlining also.
now the question is when to do the 2nd service?

and wats the life of SS oil?

                        • I changed the oil at 800kms.. I started feeling some minor vibrations after 700kms .. I have used shell semi synthetic as one of my friend said its much better than other oils.. i am going to get my first servicing done at 1200kms..

                            • Engine oil smelling of petrol

Guys, this weekend I had been to Pune for attending the Indian Superbike festival; the total trip was around 320kms (Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai). So, yesterday while I was doing a regular check-up, I found the engine oil smelling slightly of petrol and it had lost almost 30-40% of its viscosity. So my question is, what is causing my engine oil to smell of petrol and lose its viscosity??
