Originally posted by Raneet View PostYesterday went on a long ride with some friends. Machines that joined were Pulsar 220 dtsi, CBR 250R and Karizma R. Had been there before once but this was the first long ride on my R15. So not only that I enjoyed the ride but also I could test my ride to the limits.
Add to that, my full riding gears (DSG Maze and Metal Knee guards) added up so that I could test them as well. It was something worth appreciating.
Pictures will be up soon, until then, enjoy my experience on R15 v 2.0.
The route that we selected yesterday was very interesting and challenging for my ride. Why? Well because it had a combination of smooth stretch, sharp corner, bad patched stretch, stretches with "Holes" on road and muddy area.
And to be honest, R15 performed very impressive on all the above mentioned patches.
Smooth roads: No doubt it plays wonder. Ripped the bike to its top, I could only attain 132 kmph on the odo in dipped posture and red-lining from the 4th gear. Had a bag on my back though so can't say it was minimal air-resistance. But I guess that's because the ride is just a little over 2000 kms old. Once I cross the 5000 kms mark on the odo, things should improve.
Sharp corner: Well on my way back there was a sharp "O" turn right before the NH6 meets NH2 and I took the corner at 95 kmph on my odo. Trust me I could feel that the bike can easily take the corner at an even higher speeds. 110-120 easily. But it was night and I it was a blind corner. So did not take the risk.
Bad patches with gravels and roads with holes: This is a place where you need to be extremely careful as the rack angle on R15 is pretty sharp, a speedy dive can result in a bent fork. R15 maneuvers very well no matter what road type it is. Holes can be easily avoided. No complains.
Muddy area: This is where R15 is extremely fun. We actually went off road, no we didn't have a proper off-roading, we just went offroad. And the place from which we went offroad was like a dive into the fields from the asphalt. I did not ride it down so won't comment but I rode it up. The smoothest bike to ride down was Karizma as it had Michillin M45 and Sirac installed, next was CBR250R perhaps because of its wide tyres, the next was Pulsar220 (well to be honest, I have ridden the Pulsar 220 intensely on-road and odd-road and its a proven machine everywhere) and then was my ride. But again as I did not ride it down, I can't comment.
While riding up, the ugliest was CBR250R. Hell lot of a wheel spin. Had to literally push it from the tail to support. Better than that was the Pulsar220 and Karizma. And the smoothest was my R15. :O :O :O Well even I did not expect that. Everybody who went was there agreed that my ride climbed up the muddy slope the best, even though it has the most aggressive ride posture and lowest torque figures out of the lot. I was so damn proud of my ride then.
Night riding: Well a good HID kit is a must on the R15 no matter what. Even a candle light is better than stock. But with a good HID, the output changes drastically.
I was the first in the lot to finish the course and wait for the others. (Night riding not only depends on your machine, but also your visibility)
All round, very happy with my bike. But there is a need for a powerful engine. Perhaps a 200cc with 20bhp at the minimum on the same body could have done wonders. So there is absolutely a need for that when you are on empty straight line smooth stretches. Also if there was an option for eABS(felt the need sometimes on the gravels), it would have been my ideal package.
Other than that, no complains. Very happy with my ride.
Forgot to mention the attention I grabbed all the way from of the pack of CBR250R, Karizma R and Pulsar 220.
Two guys from a Tata Indigo actually came beside me on NH6 and appreciated me.
And yes the bike returned a very good mileage as well. Did not calculate how much but from the fuel I filled and the fuel left, I can easily make it out it returned a 40-42 kmpl at the minimum.
Oh yes, I did not have any back ache or neck sprain or wrist sprain. But I was getting an ache at my abdomen but that I used to get on my P220 as well. Just had to keep refreshing my position on the bike from time to time. That's it. So for people who complain of back ache and other stuff, your body first needs to adapt to the riding style. Once done, it should be fine. Even the guys riding CBR 250R (claimed to be the best sports tourer now) had a terrible pain in the wrong place.
But not me.

Beautiful pics man... I really wish Yamaha had the sense to plonk a bigger engine in this bike... It would really eat up the market of CBR/Ninja/duke/GT250r...Originally posted by neodecoder View PostPosting some pics from today morning's ride with [IN]BeTrayedxD to Broken Bridge in Besant Nagar, Chennai.

Hi guys!
I gave my R15 V2 for servicing today since then I am missing her, so checked in here
.
Where can I get the tank guard in Hyderabad ? I went to Ram Koti but after searching in many shops I couldn't find one. Although I managed to find in one shop the very next day it started peeling off from the tank. Not sure if it is my mistake of not fixing it properly. I will check again in Pearl Yamaha for it.
As for the bike it has completed 5500 kms and its the 4th servicing. I refill gas at Shell and use Yamalube. Till date I didn't see any issues.
Keep Riding, Be Safe!

Got R15 v2.0 limited edition white 5 days ago. And now I see other pics on net, I see there is a black tankpad on all of them.
Not sure why mine doesnt have one!
Also, can any existing LE white owners confirm if the owners manual was also written as limited edition? I dont see any such on mine.

Very sad to know this. I had booked one earlier this month. Will get on August first week. Are the tankpads, logo and stickers of LE available in dealerships? If i don't get these, i wonder what is the point of paying 4k extra for the LE!!Originally posted by Ivin View PostOfficially confirmed. Thanks bro! Exactly! Yamaha is surely working on it. But they need to hurry up and launch an R25 or R35. R25 will be better for mileage.Originally posted by psych0hans View PostBeautiful pics man... it will surely be the fastest and sexiest!
