Last pic seems to me like pads are close. Probably over your wear indicator limit mate, how long have you used them?Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostAttaching a few pics, Please do forgive for the pathetic quality. Hope anyone would show some light on this.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Dude, you have used all your rear disc pad and now the metal frame of disc pad is in contact with the disc rotor.. no proper maintenance :/ and now your disc rotor is damaged and i dont know how your are riding with this.. Change the pads ASAP and i guess you have to change Disc Rotor also.. Pads will cost you 1.2k approx. Do not Ride like this as braking efficiency is greatly reduced (Read 0)Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostFor the past few days, I've been experiencing this squeaking noise from the rear disc when the bike started and driven. It is clearly audible and almost everyone on the streets would be able to hear it. The sound settles off pretty soon in about a few kilometres. I believe that it is because the caliper is in contact with the disc. I drove for a few kilometers without even using the rear brake, well at an average speed of 20-30kph and observed the disc. It was literally so hot. The front seems to be cool though it was used all the time. I know that the rear disc used to heat up and it was normal but this sound is getting over my head during every cold start. Bike's odo is now at 14000kms. Brake fluid topped up at 10k kms. All was fine till a few days ago when I was on a rainy ride. Attaching a few pics, Please do forgive for the pathetic quality. Hope anyone would show some light on this. Its better to sweat than bleed!! "AGATT "

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I was at Sai Ram Yamaha which is nearby home for Enginr oil change last week and enquired about this squeaking too. The mechs[emoji52] over there told me that the sound was due to the recent rains. I had a feeling that a little rain wouldn't do much and thank goodness I posted here. I'll change the things ASAP. Thanks! Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Well that is your answer. I say get it changed, its pricey and the rear wheel overhaul in process would give you a pretty good idea what is wrong, if any at all, except these pads.Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostIts been 14k kms! Your rear disk pads are more than shot brother. Just from the pictures I can tell that the actual breaking surface has rubbed off and now the disk is in contact with metal. Change the pads immediately or risk irreparably damaging the disk and callipers.
Check the rear wheel alignment as well while you're at it coz the pads seem unevenly worn.Last edited by Balgi; 12-05-2014, 08:29 PM.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
The sound stopped by itself,i pretty much didn't do any thing except do some hard braking.Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostNever am I going to the SVC, just a reliable local mech as usual. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Odo-7400 km
Avg mileage -32kmpl
STOCK R15 ridden mostly on highways . Bike has been flogged to keep up with dukes on the highway with aggressive downshifts being a common thing.
The bike and has been regularly serviced as per schedule.
(accidently downshifted to gear 1 at 50kmph, bike revved full 12k rpm before I pulled in the clutch, once)
1.Constantly tick tick noise which is high at cold temperature and little misfire/coughing?
When revved beyond 5k rpm when cold(avoid it as much as possible)- will get valve clearance corrected.
2. Play in front steering felt when braking or on bad roads.- should I replaced racer ball set?
3. Small quantities of oil in filter boX, seen through the translucent window.
-will get the breather tube cleaned.
4- should I get swing arm and wheel bearings greased as per manual, no problem with it watsoever, is it mandatory?
5. Front tyre loses pressure when ridden on bumpy roads because of 5 repaired punctures, planning to get tyre sealant- slime @ 650, worth it or i should change tyre?
Any other must do things/suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Hey i had the same problem of tick tick noise. Mine seemed like its coming from near cylinder. When i got it checked at svc it was the problem with decompressor which when replaced problem was solved.Originally posted by akhilash95 View PostOdo-7400 km

The cost of brake pads on the r15 is mind numbingly ridiculous. :O Hope its of absolute top notch quality for its price. Ninja's pads cost almost a k as well. But the duke's pads are only 200/- change a set, comparatively the Honda unicorn's pads cost 400/- a set. Don't know why such variation in prices. 😵
