Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
If your bike is brand new, then there's nothing at all to worry about since it'll get better on the go. If not, You might be holding the clutch too long when downshifting... I get those 'thud' sounds only when I hold the clutch for a while and then downshift. Mostly happens in moving traffic when I can't decide whether to stay in the same gear or downshift. [emoji13] I downshift only when the rpm falls below 3 to 2.5k. Upshifts are always good for me and when upshifting at 5k rpm or higher, Its smooth as butter!Originally posted by Abhi599 View Post

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Anything around 15k is more than sufficient for me. I hope I have chosen the best option in that price?Originally posted by dinesh17 View PostRevz-s costs approximately Rs.3600. It offers great performance but beware the life of the tyre is arounf 18k +/- kms and at the end of its life its known to attract punctures a lot.
Thanks a lot  I mainly wanted a close by figure. Also, please share the details of the shop from where you purchased your bike's front tyre.Originally posted by Gurudatt View PostI got revz-s for 3000 from mrf dealer. He quoted 2k for the front tyre but it was 1.6k in JC road, so I am guessing revz-s will cost around 2700 in JC road..

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Abhi599 - yes that's normal..the first gear behaves like as you mentioned, crying to let go off the throttle at high revs or even mid revs :P i worried about it too when i was new to the bike but then i slowly came to know (from this thread) this is normal in R15 and actually from what i learnt from the internet (various articles and other bike specific forums) most sportbikes (in general bikes with high revving engine) have pretty uncomfortable feels and sounds at low gears (usually just the 1st).
about the shifting sound, yes that's normal at 1st gear too (in addition to what arvind said about a louder thud sound if u downshift after holding the clutch lever a tad too long)..
1st gear is generally very uncomfortable sounding and feels very very harsh at mid to high revs. but not to worry about it. you can continue revving the 1st gear as well nevertheless.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
My second full tank after the first two free services. Clocked 422.6 odd kms when the "F" indicator came up. Did 6 odd kms within it and filled to the brim, past the two small metal rods(which is recommended in the manual, to fill until that point only). Once the fuel hit those markers, 10 litres came up and until the brim 0.7 went in more. So a total of 10.7 litres. A little overflowed because the petrol guns lever appeared jammed and as grumpy as all petrol attendants are, they never round it off, let alone thinking about giving a rupee more.
All in all 427.8 kms divided by 10.7 is a very respectable 39.94 OR 40 kmpl. This includes regular city traffic along with a few highway runs. Total kms done is a very low 517 but I am not complaining.
I also wish to know what could be this squishy "chak'chak" noise I get from the front portion when I go over bad roads? The fairing is in place, no bolts are loose. Is it the fork springs? OR is this thing normal? Please enlighten!"Never recreate from your memory, always imagine new places"

Yup, that squishy sound is from front forks, nothing to worry about. Pretty much all the r15s have itOriginally posted by myg124 View PostMy second full tank after the first two free services. I believe it might be coming from fork seal rubbing against the fork itself.
On a differently similar note. Mine has run 2950 so second service is scheduled. Since it was decided that I'll be servicing it at home during first one, nothing has happened for me to change my opinion about what an excellent job I did(pun intended),
except for starting the bike without engine oil for 30 seconds or so.
None the less, second one will be done inhouse too. The only issue is that I put in the motul 300v fs oil. Now considering its fully synthetic(fs) and costlier, I don't want to replace it so soon.
And so I was thinking of extending the service intervals to, say 4000 kms. It makes sense and this is my stupid logic:
It goes like, well yamaha decided to keep the service cost low, for this, they use semi synthetic or mineral. Which is good. But the fs shouldn't necessarily be serviced every 3000. I mean my cbr 250 used to get serviced every 6000 kms with fs. So one should be able to happily run the r15 for atleast 4500 kms. I'll check oil level for top up, do the air filter cleaning, chain cleaning lubing adjustment, clutch lever adjustment and tightening of nuts bolts. I mean just the basic good maintainence stuff and thus extensd the service intervals.
What say?
Ps: another issue is the oil filter change at every 3000 kms, i know engineers know the best. but i'll be extending that as well to 4000 - 4500 kmsLast edited by mehuel; 11-02-2014, 08:07 AM.

Yup, its Zapper-FY1 90/80, ₹1900 with free installation. Got it from authorized MRF dealer.Originally posted by Tanmay26 View PostI thought zapper FY1 90/80 costs 3100. Is it 1900 actual?
I am due for a tyre change, and am confused between zapper fy 80/90 and fy1 90/80.
If its 1900, i got to get myself FY1.
Ride safe and have fun.

You can definitely use it , but why do you want to change from the stock ?Originally posted by chiragsthakur View PostCan we use Michelin Pilot Street Radial 130/70 R17 for R15v2? Or should I stick with stock MRF tyre?
Stock is a very good tire

I have completed 16k Kms on stock now that came with the bike. Was thinking about changing the rear tyre now, so thought of Michelin over MRFOriginally posted by abdulsheikh007 View PostYou can definitely use it , but why do you want to change from the stock ?

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Michelin Pilot Street radial would be a good choice since it is proved to be better than the Pirelli Sport Demon by Michelin itself in their website and YouTube channel, hoping they're right.Originally posted by chiragsthakur View PostI have completed 16k Kms on stock now that came with the bike.
