Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Keep an eye on grip levels. Being not so hard compounds, grip levels may decrease despite grooves being visible.Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View Post

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
If there is no visible difference, they will last another 10k Kms. I know a few guys who did more than 25k on one set of tires, no problems at all.Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostHow long do the V2's tyres last? I'm presently at 12k kms and there's no visible difference!
If the tires provide grip and proper feedback, then dont worry.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

The grip levels are good as usual but the rear is a puncture magnet. It's 8 punctures in the rear alone [emoji29] but the front is good.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostKeep an eye on grip levels. Being not so hard compounds, grip levels may decrease despite grooves being visible.

I use my bike mostly on the highways for long distances. A friend of mine replaced his rear at 15k km itself and that's what got me thinking. So I guess I'll be good till 20k kms! Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
The life of the tire depends on the way you ride your bike. hard breaking, burnouts, regular jamming up of rear wheel under breaking etc will make the tire useless in 10k kms. Too many punctures will also reduce tire life.Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostI use my bike mostly on the highways for long distances. So If you ride sanely (not slowly, sanely), that means not doing the things mentioned above the stock tire is good for at least 25k kms, maybe even longer.
the best way is, after 20k kms regularly check the tire for cracks, or any other deformities, if it looks ok, gives the grip you need, does not loose air in a short time, then the tire is good and you can keep using it.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

I ride on highways as well.. Hard acceleration, hard braking and unlimited top speed testing.. They lasted for 30k kms with treads still visible..Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostI use my bike mostly on the highways for long distances. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Ask anyone I know and they'll tell how I keep babying my bike, well not much but yes, I do drive very sanely. No burnouts, hard shifting, hard breaking etc, Just long highway runs. I look out for cracks, etc every weekend and so far it's just a small crack in the front and the rest is well and good. Cheers!Originally posted by Ankey View PostThe life of the tire depends on the way you ride your bike. hard breaking, burnouts, regular jamming up of rear wheel under breaking etc will make the tire useless in 10k kms. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Wow, Now this is giving me hope that I'd manage till 40k km in stock tyres considering the way I drive [emoji23] Just kidding, But it's really surprising that your stock tyres lasted for 30k kms even though it was put to all extreme tests considering it to be soft compound.[emoji33]Originally posted by Gurudatt View PostI ride on highways as well.. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
i am usually (90% of the times) the hard braking (of the front, hardly use the rear), hard acceleration, high revving hard shifting kinda rider (and cornering if traffic-less corners present themselves) :P...just generally keeping it very thrilling including conventionally narrow/questionable maneuvers, towards the extreme and just outright fun with skill and sensitivity/control
(not like a damn maniac with no skill/control but i guess it looks like that to an outside viewer:P)..so i havent been expecting my tyres to last anymore than 20k or so (or about 3 years given my average riding of only about 600kms per month because i got no regular commuting purpose, just random fun rides)...but 30k? that'd be awesome and kinda like i never have to change my tyres ever :P
either way, hopefully it wont be any sooner than 20k at least. it's only at 9.2k right now haha
i'll do a burnout the day i'll have to chuck my tyres away

I have completed 30k nowOriginally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostHow long do the V2's tyres last? I'm presently at 12k kms and there's no visible difference!
And grip is still good
But I only rode on highways most of the time And took real good care of them
Will be changing my tires now
No puncture on front
But 6-7 on the rear till now
I would recommend buying the puncture repair kit off eBay for 100 bucks
This tire repair people charge 100 bucks for one puncture

As I've mentioned a few posts earlier, The rear tyre is a puncture magnet [emoji29] People charge minimum 120 bucks here and well, Are you going to stick with stock replacement tyres or others like Pirelli Sport Demon, Michelin Pilot Street Radial or any other?Originally posted by abdulsheikh007 View PostI have completed 30k now

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
@Arvind Sibi - dude rs 120 for repairing a puncture ? considering the fact that repairing puncture on tubeless tyres is usually easier than that in tubeful tyres...Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 10-29-2014, 08:31 PM.

Yeah , repairing tubeless is very easy compared to tube tireOriginally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Post[MENTION=63787]Arvind Sibi[/MENTION] - dude rs 120 for repairing a puncture ? considering the fact that repairing puncture on tubeless tyres is usually easier than that in tubeful tyres...
list most people my riding has also been on highways mostly, but a significant fraction of those ones not being so good and some quite a bit broken every here and there...but i have also done lots and lots of riding on seriously disfigured or broken and generally bad roads (effectively describable as more or less off-roading sometimes) as well and some riding on literally what would be called 'off-roads' but fortunately not once has my tyres got punctured yet (touchwood:P)
Plus that material also doesn't cost much
But maybe it's a tactic of them to earn more money.
The repair kit is readily available online for 100-150
Which provided the equipment an the material to be inserted I tire and this can be utilised on 4-5 punctured

R25 Review by TOPGEAR...... "The Quarter Master" Gets 8/10
Better looking than R1
, Revs to 13k RPM every single time and you got to look at the speedo to Know you are doing 170kmph......
