Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
It depends from where you get the big bore done, my fren has V1, he got his big bore at 20k kms, today his bike completed little more than 5 years and 55k kms, till date he has not faced any problem. And yes he tours a lot, longest he did was from Bangalore to Kanyakumari. Now i have 2012 V2, got my big bore at approx 16k kms, till date i have completed 27k + kms, and still going fine with me. I do decent touring and sometimes highway blast. And moreover it depend how you ride during the run in period after you get the big bore. As you said you do a lot of touring, putting big bore will also increase your fuel efficiency which will be an added advantage while touring.Originally posted by Gurudatt View Post

R15 V2's cooling system
Good Morning xBhp!!! This is Kripz from Chennai. I own a Yamaha R15 V2.0 which is 4 months old now. It's awaiting it's third free service soon. I noticed that the coolant oil in the coolant reserve chamber is below the minimum mark. When I asked the service experts to refill it, they mentioned that the refill is not necessary and the amount which is in the reserve chamber is the correct level for the bike. The coolant is in the same level since the second service and it has not reduced from that level till date. I am not convinced and I need some knowledge in this matter. So, will the radiator and the cooling system work properly with the coolant oil being below the minimum mark? Any advice and insight will be much helpful. Thanks in advance.

Re: R15 V2's cooling system
Top up the coolant till max level. SVC guys will not give proper advice, since they will have to put some 'efforts' in correcting the coolant level. Never run the bike on coolant that is below the minimum mark.Originally posted by Kripz View PostGood Morning xBhp!!! This is Kripz from Chennai. I own a Yamaha R15 V2.0 which is 4 months old now. I have been facing an issue for the last couple of days where my bike is intermittenly shutting down while its on the run. Its running normal when I am running on pilot lights, but whenever I am switching on the main lights, its shutting down. Once shut down, its losing power, lights on the console goes off. Tried leaving the clutch while on gear to restart but that also fails.
Now few pointers from my side:
1. On the right hand side, below the black plastic cover under the handle bar, where all the wires are placed there are some plugs of different sizes (blue, black and a small white). Whenever I press a particluar one, the bike starts. Now I dont know which one as have not been able to identify.- Is it a like a loose contact ?
2. Checked battery Voltage, its normal. (Using an upgraded 5Amp Batt)
3. I use an HID setup where low beam has both lights and High beam has both HIDs. But have been using it for a long time and never faced an issue previously except for the horn going weak when HID is on.
Any idea whats happening?
I am planning to take it to Sprint Yamaha (Kudlu gate) or Orion Motors (Hosur Road) if the problem persists. Can you recommend any particluar mechanic?
Also can any kind hearted soul donate their rear tyre hugger to me. Desperately in need of it. My riding is always with pillion and the mud splashes are real bad
Else please let me know the part number and price, will get the same.
Thanks a lot,
Ride safe,
AdhirajOriginally posted by adhirajb View PostHi Guys, again got into an issue with my bike .
Today morning suddenly my bike refused to start. The engine warning light popped up on HUD. Checked the blinks it came 4 long blips and 8 short blips. Push starting also failed. Called the svc, mech came down and fixed the issue.
Now coming to the issue, the wire going into the Fuel Injector has got almost worn off at the point it enters the injector. He has temp fixed the issue by putting a black tape on it. Asked him what permanent fix option is to which he is saying that the whole wiring kit ~ Rs 3550 and the injector ~5K needs to be replaced. When I pointed out why I need to change the injector he said that I can give it a skip. Also he mentioned that there is another way of repairing the whole wire and he will charge me ~1500.
Somehow am not too convinced with his methods and he said that this is a very common issue.
Guys let me know if any of you have faced this issue. Also tell me if there is any mech in Bangalore who can do this work properly. It involves electricals and wiring. (svc is on a rip-off mode I guess).

Sorry bro for late reply bro, looked your message on whatsapp.
Seems due to mishandling at time of pressurized washing wires have tangled up and your wiring has messed up. Best is you get your wiring sorted up and everything will be fine.
Also how much I remember from our last interaction, you havnt changed your battery. Battery is also dying. Your bike is already 2 years old and as you said you are using HID from long time, battery life is ought to decrease soon.
Get a new battery and get your wiring sorted up. Get new Exide battery 5amph best fit and fulfills all requirement. I purchased it around 11 months before and it costed me around 1250.
Contact Nakki of Shree Auto Works in JCRoad for new Battery. And if you want to go for new wiring for HID then it will cost you around 900 bucks.
For second issue, as you said in whatsapp, rats are eating your wire. Its quite usual but scary to pocket. From picks also its clear that wire has been eaten up and has wear and tear.
Get new wiring. Fuel injector need not to change. You can get the connection fixed easily.
Contact Pacer Yamaha HRBR Layout, he will help you. I will whatsapp you his number.
Go to SVC and tell them to top it up.Originally posted by Kripz View PostGood Morning xBhp!!! This is Kripz from Chennai. I own a Yamaha R15 V2.0 which is 4 months old now. Coolant can be used till the reserve level after that one should topup. You never know when bike gets heated up and thus to keep the temperature down, coolant plays the role.
If the level is above reserve level no need to worry.

Soldering this wire wont be a good solution as it will be prone to damage.Originally posted by adhirajb View Postthanks a lot saquib, as per our conversation, I had already upgraded to 5 amps from Nikki around 6 months back

If wire is damaged at the apex of casing and wire joint then there is no option other than changing the whole set else you can have a good joint but do get it done at SVC and dont try to d on your own.
Regarding HID and all would suggest please get the wiring cleaned once and from next time ask the cleaning guy to not apply pressurized water on and under the doom.

Not true, if you solder properly and cover the joints with heat shrink tubing, it's very much permanent.Originally posted by saquib3005 View PostSoldering this wire wont be a good solution as it will be prone to damage.

With regards to hid in the reflector, they suck (just removed mine) , if you live in a well lit city they're ok, a good quality projector set up is way better than anything else, no compromise.
My projectors are in progress, as I like to overcomplicate things as it's a hobby!

More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

As I said earlier "Soldering this wire wont be a good solution as it will be prone to damage."Originally posted by stefanm View PostNot true, if you solder properly and cover the joints with heat shrink tubing, it's very much permanent.
yes it will get damage, when you and I handle the tank we always handle with extra care, but SVC guys are always in a hurry. They are always in their own state of comfort and just to do things in less time they do mishandle. Also soldering is not a very tight joint. Even a small pressure can break it anytime. So it is not advisable to only solder. Agree heat cover joints do give enough safety but internally wires do go week. And moreover a proper wire is far better than soldering.
It all depends on maintenance and handling.
