The orange light indeed signifies Engine malfunction warning and please pay proper attention. With these symptoms I assume speedo sensor is the culprit. Do check for error code in FID tool and get the corresponding sensor changed under warranty.

It Sounds Silly !! But i would like to know its function !!
ECU --- > Engine Control Unit !!
How does it control the Entire Engine Unit ?
Do the ECU ---- >> Contains Microprocessor or any Sensors Installed ?? How does it looks ?? Where it is been installed ?
Do the R15 v 2.0 have got the same ECU as on the Old R15 V 1.0 ??
And Do any other bike have got ECU Fitted ?
Do the FI system on the New R15 v 2.0 is the same as the Old R15 v 1.0 or it differs ??
Waiting for your replies !!

I suggest that you read the owner's manual carefully. A description of the fuel injection system, ECU and how it works is given in manual.Originally posted by ArriveAlone View PostECU --- > Engine Control Unit !!

speed sensor
Hi All,Originally posted by hellgate View PostRecently I had taken my R15 v2 for her 1st servicing.
A few days later the speedo stopped working sometimes it works ans sometimes it doesnt. The spped indicator stays put at zero when it doesnt work.
Few days later the orange warning light (the one after the high beam indicator) started flashing when i took her to 7k rpm and above. After i dropped down to like 5k-5.5k rpm, the light stopped flashing.
The next day the same waring light started flashing after i started the bike in the morning and would stop after i killed the engine. This however has stopped now and that waring light starts flashing only after i take her to 7k rpm and above. Could someone tell me whats happening here?
I am also facing the same problem, But I didn't check the RPM. Asked service center guy to change the speed sensor but he's telling that they have to order for it and it will take 15 daysLast edited by arv83; 02-02-2012, 01:20 PM.

Sorry, my mistake, its not in the owner's manual. The explanation is given in the service manual. I suggested that you read the same for no other reason but that Yamaha has designed and manufactured the bike and who can explain the system better than them.Originally posted by ArriveAlone View PostDude , they din't mention any thing about the ECU and FI in the owner's manual !! The explanation is on pages 1-2 & 1-3 under the heading 'Outline of the FI System'. In case you are wondering where you will find the service manual, here is a link to download the same SM_20P1_YZF-R15.pdf.

I am also facing the same problem and it has been almost 2 months since the speedometer has stopped working. Every time I go to Monarch Automobiles these people tell me it will be available after 10 days!!! I am really frustrated.
Are there many more who are facing the same issue? Never expected this from Yamaha...its going on Honda track!!!Last edited by Shshank; 02-02-2012, 04:40 PM.

I'm very much happy to learn some things ( to develop my knowledge ) from that service manual ( that you provided ) .. Thank you very much for sharing the service manual !!
Note - But once Again '1' Question arises !!
Service Manual - Page 2-9 Chassis Specification --> Front Fork Travel --> 130 mm & Rear Shock Absorber travel ---> ' 50.00 mm ' <---- !!
Is it So ? ..
In my Owner's manual they have said Front Fork Travel --> 115 mm & rear shock absorber travel ---> ' 130 mm ' <----
Which one is correct ? " I'm pointing the Rear Shock absorber travel Only "
....
Waiting for your replyLast edited by ArriveAlone; 02-02-2012, 08:49 PM.

Both are correct. The V2 has a revised swing arm with a revised mounting position. Since the wheel base has increased, the shock's travel stroke has been revised.Originally posted by ArriveAlone View PostI'm very much happy to learn some things ( to develop my knowledge ) from that service manual ( that you provided ) .. Camera mount for my Baby R
Hi Guys,
Finally I completed the camera mount for my Baby R
Check the pics. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
BTW it costed me Rs. 1000 to get it done.
Planning to customize it once again after I get my GPS and the Camera.
Then will think of additional brackets to set it up for all three devices including my mobile.
Still pending is the ball head mount to be delivered from Ebay.
Anyways enjoy the pics
Cheers and ride safe

Dude I'm Asking about the Version 1.0 !! Not Version 2.0 ....
In my owner manual they have mentioned rear shock absorber travel is 130 mm !!
The Service manual you provided mentions rear shock absorber travel is 50.00 mm !!
I hope you can understand my question ..
