So an R15 would draw hell of a lot of attention.Pillion riding will be very inconvenient, specially for my mom and gf? Firstly,I want something having very good quality which I can keep easily for 5 years, without getting rusted parts. Love Yammies for the monoshocks and wide tyres. Bajaj bikes get rusted very easily, although I take extreme care of my bike. How are the charges for servicing and parts of R15 and FZ? Any rumours about Yamaha updating the FZ?
    I want stunning looks,about 45-50 mileage,fat rubber,dual horns and long lasting parts.
Well to gain some you gotta lose some...For R15 it will be a straight trade off between pillion comfort and "45-50 mileage, fat rubber, dual horns and long lasting parts".

Its not uncomfortable for gfs as per the feedback I get from my female pillions but yes for moms and aunties total no..I had to drop my mom somewhere in a cab even when I had my keys with me and bike right in front of my doorstep..But for your mileage and other requirements - R15 fits into the bill exactly...(40-42 mileage if we rev high but when we constantly drive below 5k rpm it is definitely more than 45 - exactly my bike's mileage figures)

R15 is an attention seeker, only option left with me is to keep it covered always whenever unattended...Though initially I used to feel awkward in covering it at theatres and below my office but now am used to it specially considering the fact that it helps in keeping it safe comparatively.

V2 is good for city driving also and I love driving it both in city as well as in highways..But its true potential will be wasted if you dont take her out on highways..If you ain't a tourer now then this bike will surely make you one and city driving will be just a formality for you to escape to the highway-so addictive it is!!

Servicing and parts of R15 are just a BIT on the costlier side but then if you buy a bike worth 1.24L then its parts are also gotta be worth that...No idea whether any update of FZ is due but servicing and parts are not costly for FZ and FZ is also definitely an amazing bike...Except very low mileage...

Do consider your options well..take a test drive and then decide.

Sushanth, this is not a marketing thread of CBR so refrain from posting here, this is a thread for R15 owners and discussion related to their concerns.

      • Back to biking

Not much to write as the bike has proven itself anyway. Just some pics for interested buyers. Just a quick word before I sign off, I bought it from Perfect Riders in Bangalore and the buying experience was pretty good. That said, this is worth every penny although reconsider if you are never planning to ride it alone. The fun begins there ! The liaison of the bike and the rider is what this bike is all about.

Both are good. Looks are a matter of individual choice. On paper at least, the CBR will make about 1 pony more with 1,000 rpm higher rev ceiling. So you can wait for 4 to 6 months to get your hands on a CBR or 2 to 4 weeks for a R15, your call ....

And CBR150R makes ~2.5 NM of torque less and the peak torque also comes at higher revs. Just to highlight that performance difference between these two bikes would be marginal. You ll be choosing what your heart likes and you won't be wrong with either(assuming decent quality standards from Honda).

              CBR150 vs. R15 V2.0... LOL
I think you should be comparing CBR150 vs. Bajaj Pulsar150/TVS... I doubt if it would beat even these Brands(in terms of value for money)..

Dude the honda CBR150R is giving 18ps above the 17ps power of the R15 and for tall people like me(6foot) who look puny on the R15, the CBR would be a great alternative. And I heard it's being priced less than the r15. And I don't i any way say that the R15 is bad, it's a beautiful machine, tried and tested by many but CBR is going to be tough competition if it's providing all that the R15 provides, even the good looks.
I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

First point - Pricing goes with the Quality of product...

Second point - I should say R15 V2.0 is pretty Big & Tall bike, bcoz of riding posture you would think its short. pls read KTM Duke review to know about this bikes height, it scores slightly higher than Ninja but in terms of head comparison it looks shorter. People who are of your height and who owns R15 V2 doesn't have such complains.. its simple, if you are not comfortable means the bike is not meant for you

Third point - As I mentioned above (Duke Review), This bike is compared with performance of 250cc segment (including CBR250/Ninja 250R, not in terms of top speed)..

Forth point - It so happened CBR250 (New bike) passed across my Red babe, I just cant believe he glued his eyes on this babe. More over Cars, Bikes, Other vehicles chase me for a while bcoz of stunning looks and overtake the bike.. Soon will be my turn to overtake them after Run-in period..

Fifth point - End-of-day its your satisfaction which matters with the money you shell on your dream, for me its pure value for money..

Sixth point - R15 does not need marketing to get the bike moving into market, pure bcoz this bike is all about owning to believe its performance.

Seventh point - Above points are not to convince you, but my experience with the bike..

Every one has a taste & choice, If you feel that you are getting more BHP +1,2,3 at lesser price... I would strongly recommend you to weight for CBR150, All d best with the bike...

                  • ^^ Is this still the Ownership Thread?

I was about to ask for a query for v2.0 owners, but maybe I would be the one creating an OT here..continue with the camparo

Thanks man. The cost is around 1.27 Lakhs on-road in Bangalore. Probable the most expensive in India.

I do not think there is an option to put it below the headlamps but the popular way of doing it is to put a sticker with the number on the fairing and remove the number plate although I read it somewhere in the forum that the mirrors are going loose in v2.0 if the number plate is removed. Might be one of an instance. Have to check it myself.

Yup..my bag stays with me always..cover remains in it..

                        >I am a big scratch-freak,(hate even the smallest scratches),so the pillion seat, being so small, the pillion's clothes, specially salwars or jeans back buttons won't scratch the sides? I mean, the pillion's thighs would scrape the bodywork, wouldn't it? This is my big worry!
Till date (touch wood) no scratches from pillions on the body work..Red & white combination is good for it as no scratches will be visible on white pillion seat..

                        >I sat on an R15 v1 today. Heck, the view from the rider's seat is too good!
Then u r gonna love the view of pillion seat on V2

                        >What happens in case I fall with the bike? Any crash guard can be installed, like its done on Ninjas?
What happens will depend on how hard you fall. I know a person who dropped the bike at a pretty low speed and there were just a few scratches on the fairings so they are pretty strong i guess. Crash guard like other bikes is not possible due to fairing but I think a good mechanic can fit frame sliders to help save fairing during a crash...

                        • crash guards are not required.. as fairing is designed such a way, that it automatically protect your legs..

Frame sliders will help the fairing from getting damaged in case of a fall. Protection of legs is a different issue, though I also feel that there would be sufficient gap for legs between ground and inner part of bike.

and today i just got to know tat the on road price in bangalore is 1,28,180.... but tats not gonna stop me either but still confused about the colour red/white or black?
