Was that a question? Sorry, but it looked like a taunt. Anyways, a couple of bursts are necessary for proper opening up of the engine. Be gentle on the throttle, that's it. Don't worry about run-in mate, just try to fit near what manual suggests. Happy mile munching.

    Totally agree.

true! even i am tired reading all this. Runnin in and Engine oil are the things discussed to the end of the earth. and there is no need for any write up about it because this will continue if one person disagrees to it. better stick to the manual. and to new owners- Please get the manual before you get the bike.

Just done with 5th servicing last friday at ODO 11797 kms.

If you look at the Service manual, the servicing after every 12K kms is the most important one as it invloves many parts replacements.
I took my bike to SVC at 8 am in the morning as to get back the bike asap and to test it before the next day ride of around 700kms.
To my surprise when I told the mechanic to change/replace the parts mentioned the manual, he was like 'it's not needed at all'. I had to literally argue with him to make him go along with the service manual. After all said and done at around 9:30 am, he was convinced and asked to me to take the bike at around 5 pm in the evening as it involved lot of works.
When I came back at 5:30 pm, I got the bike and checked and came to know they didn't even change the Spark Plug. They said everything is fine,no change/replace required.
I said it's a matter of 150 bucks only, I would like to go with the manual. So when they were about to change it, the Plug Cap was found to be broken( so it was needed to be replaced and more over to be checked by them, which they didn't). Spark Plug/cap replaced.

The bike was ready by 7 pm in the evening.
And the shocker was still awating, the service charges. As Teejayy already posted his bill details I was quite sure what my bill could be, but I was wrong.
                I am posting the details:

                Parts charges:
                Engine oil: 505
                Oil filter: 167
                Air filter: 237
                Fork Oil(175ml): 250
                Consumable: 160

                The labour charges:
                Steering Bearings lubrication: 300
                Fork oil replacement: 360
                Wheel bearings lubrication(front): 150
                Wheel bearings lubrication(rear): 120
                Swingarm lubrication: 200

                Total of spares: 1320
Total of labour: 1130-------------------And that's for a free servicing as whatever the tasks were done, nothing was a 'special' request, everything is mentioned in the Manual.
                Serv Tax 12.36%: 139.67

                Then Spark Plug (Plug+Cap assy): 85+76= 161

                Net Amount: 2751/-

I think that SVC centre was doing those for the 1st time (in 5th servicing) and wondering what to charge.
Now I am gonna write a mail to Yamaha about the details and would like to get a clarification.

If any one else also done with 5th servicing, please post the details.
                Hello guys,
Just an update on this front.
I did write an email to Yamaha complaining about the over charges. I got a reply mail from them within 1 week and a call to dicuss further in details within 10 days.
I told them in details about these and they listened properly and assured me that proper action would be taken.
Within next 3 days, the manager from that SVC called me up and requested me to come down for settlement. I went there last saturday and he returned me back Rs/- 452 (i.e. 40% of the total labour charges).
Although he diligently agreed to return the money, he called up some other SVC in Mumbai and asked him for the charges and that guy was also quoting the same(may be a plan to convince me that they are not looting, fuuuh).
Anyway, to my surprise, that manager told me that the authentic service charges by Yamaha are much much lower than what they take, as it's impossible to cater the labours if they don't over charge, what a F***ing statement. I also argued but every time he doesn't find any counter statement, he used to say 'You are right sir, I am giving the money back, but that's with all Yamaha SVCs'.
Any way, no regret atlast atall, got the money.
So guys, anytime you feel like cheated, do complain to Yamaha, their customer service is very good.

I have been doing svc according to the time interval. So, its 1 year , 6 services and just 8900km on the clock.I have not changed the fork oil, spark plug air filter, and have not lubricated the bearings as of now.Should I do them now?You mentioned 160rs for consumables, please enlighten on that front!
I have changed the disc pads[both front and rear] though the rear was not worn off but was making an irritating screeching noise, the noise has vanished now.But the problem is, the front is making a high pitched noise like 'chhhhh' on moderate force application but if further force is applied there is no noise from the brake

                  • 55 days have past with my new baby, the ODO was showing 2674.
I have faced lot of problems with sales and service, think it will not end.
I have taken the bike from Ambal motors, chennai. I have a worst experience with them, they didnt deliver me the tools, first aid kit and the worst part is they teared the original yamaha service coupons and attached their own.
When I went to another showroom for service, they locked my bike saying that its not the service coupon.I have to then wait for the next day for the yamaha chennai service head to arrive to check and file a complaint. When i enquired ambal motors they replied me to come and collect, they didnt even regret and was not even willing to courier it.Such a poor sales guys.

Never go for ambal motors they dont even respond after you purchase your bike. I havent got my RC yet.
I have no clue what to do now.

I've just followed the manual buddy, the SVC guys would always tell that those are not necessary. Infact most of the R15 owners don't go for those and I believe they haven't faced any problem so far. So it's totally upon you whether you want to go for it or not.
I would suggest atleast change the Air Filter when you touch 10K Kms, you would definitely feel the difference afterwards. And all the lubrication thing is to be done at ODO 12K kms. But never mandatory

This is for Chain cleaning and lubing.

Yeah, had gone to the svc but the guy said its fine, that much noise is acceptable..The svc from which I changed the front pad did have an issue refixing the new disc pad.Okay will go again and check..
