The question is 'How much more flickable can it get with petal disc and at what cost?'. Every street bike is a set of compromises. There are a certain set of trade offs made for various reasons including cost, design, regulation based issues. If I were to go by your logic, we should all be asking why Yamaha did not use Upside Down forks (USDs) as these reduce unsprung weight and increase rigidity and radially mounted calipers as these give superlative braking feed back and performance. The reason is cost.

Get your brake lines checked and have them bled properly to ensure that there is no air in the same. One worthwhile upgrade to consider is to replace the stock brake lines with steel braided brake lines like HEL lines. I have been using them and they are fantastic. My front brake is so sensitive that a two finger touch will start the braking.
Can you throw more light on steel braided cables?? Abov the cost, which one to get or any link??? Thanks for the info buddy

They do have a brake line set for R15. Contact their India distributor. If you want to see a photograph of the same you can find one in the thread mentioned in my signature.

            • Better Braking???

Talking about better rear brake control. Has any other member tried an after market ABS ? (like the one called saferideABS) I had an accident due to rear wheel lock up so thinking a lot about installing those mechanical ABS on the rear wheel in order to ensure(at least) the lockup gets delayed upon panic braking. Since the Front brake is to be used 70% the rear one comes into the frame during panic situations when we suddenly apply it thinking that both the brakes together would make the bike stop instantly. Actually our bike's brake has the best stopping power but still to be on the safer side i am asking this. Has any of tried the After market ABS systems? And can a Mechanic at SVC install it?

Ron, Kotty, Sidharth brothers, or any other brothers have ideas or experiences about it ? I have already read the thread in Xbhp about it just to ensure your views i'm asking again.

is it a simple/straightforward install? will the SVC guys be able to do it?
(i am asking because any mistake here can be fatal)

It's simple but very easy to go wrong of you dont do it with care.. SVC ppl can do it but I recommend a DIY bcz you care for your bike more than they do.. Check the DIY thread for brake oil change and bleeding instructions and follow the instructions from the HIL site.. If you are not confident on doing better give it to SVC

Thanks Ron, I told him like you said and he asked me, so you 2 from YRC.
Well I said Yes. he he
Then he asked me, why no sticker then.
He also said you are not showing up these days.
And i think i was treated better, he took my bike direct for washing and later i came to know that the bikes parked outside there was in Q for washing he he
And he was telling his fellow mechanic that I am from YRC and I am standing there like stoned after 1 week.

ODO 10866:: And the service, it was 5th yeas i missed 4th he he

My coolant reserve was empty for weeks, my engine oil was 5k kms old (yamalube ss) oil filter was around 8k kms old.
so i was riding very smoothly, most of the time in 5-6k rpm range. (never saw engine hot indicators or even felt the engine is overheating. but once i could feel the heat and the fan was on , but nothing serious)
Before the service, for my last refuel for i got around 6.4L petrol (Shell) and run for 280kms. so millage around 43. Little unbelievable i know but i am getting it.

Since its my service after a long time, i asked them to do everything possible , i could see them working from the customers waiting room.
They did pretty good jod. satisfied. Won't doubt to go there again.
My Mechanic was Naveen, thankful to him.
Switched to Full synthetic: Motul v300 15w50 double ester he he lets see.

So Bangalore boys, sprint to Sprint Yamaha @ Hosur road , tell Ron asked to give it here, A better experience is guaranteed.

                          • ODO Reading 4700 kms

Went on a small ride. Noticed following rpm limits :
                            1st gear @ 10.5 k = 35 km/hr
                            2nd gear @ 10.5 k = 65 km/hr\
                            3rdgear @ 10.5 k = 83 km/hr
                            4th gear @ 10.5 k = 111 km/hr
                            5th gear @5k = 66 km/hr
                            6th gear @5k = 75 km/hr

I usually drive @ 5.5-6k rpm, from past 2 weeks have been driving @ 6k. Was getting 48km/lt earlier now 45km/lt. I accelerate very moderately except from last few weeks. Also i have always filled normal petrol, once in 1000km would fill up premium. Today did a tank full of Speed 97(93.xx per lt), did not noticed any difference yet.

Am in love with this bikes braking and the fact that no matter how hard you accelerate, the engine sound always comes back to like a stock bike once you let go off the acc. In my old bike if i acc hard for a little while, it would start doing kharr kharr till you get it serviced or tighten the tappoids.

4 days won't be a huge problem bro.. No need to remove battery and all.. Just keep her covered and make sure you have atleast half tank petrol just in case. And keep her in a moisture free area.

                                Cheers
