Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
You know you hit me at the right time. I've been pondering about this thing for a while now since the V3 came with slipper clutch. Almost everything on the clutch case of the V3 is similar to that of old R15, and it's made me wonder, and many a times I've felt the compulsion to get the new clutch.Originally posted by Saravanan Murdlock View PostReplacing with Slipper Clutch.
The clutch in my R is butter, so waiting for it to be used, and then consider the homework on the slipper clutch part.
It should definitely help with high speed, speed run downshifts, should smoothen the shifts of the V2 bike completely.
The clutch basket looks almost similar, the clutch hub and the pressure plate are
different. So, in theory it should be a direct swap. Also one spring less.
I'd strongly recommend you to consider it.
Cheers!

Hi VJ, Im trying to get my hands on V3 Service manual to compare the clutch parts with ours so that we can confidently go ahead and invest in the new parts. Does someone in our forum happen to have the V3 service manual and parts catalog?

It's simple. Head to your nearest SVC and talk to the service manager, senior mech he should let you know. Pretty easy. I ought to do that.Originally posted by Saravanan Murdlock View PostHi VJ, Im trying to get my hands on V3 Service manual to compare the clutch parts with ours so that we can confidently go ahead and invest in the new parts. Will do that and keep you posted. Meanwhile, can you look into this product and share your thoughts whether it is a overkill or necessary equipment in our motorcycle to have.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostIt's simple. Good but definitely overkill, I'd suggest a habit of checking tire pressure every weekend irrespective of what is a good habit, plus you also find any nails in tire if any by bending down in the process.Originally posted by Saravanan Murdlock View PostWill do that and keep you posted. It's a good investment, but you know the practicality of it right. But if you intend to, it's not a bad investment after all.

Re: Aftermarket LED headlamp upgrade
Hi,Originally posted by hatebreeder View PostI think it is a known fact that the R15 has the worst illumination when it comes to the headlight department. So all this while my brilliant solution for that was to swap out the low beam 35W with a philips X-treme vision 65W bulb for the low beam. Now that worked well, but it was a major strain on the bike's electrical setup. That was to the point that you could hear the fuel injector's hum die a little bit. Also, the manual says that the bike has to be over 5K revs if both the bulbs are to be used (35+35), so with my setup I was running much higher wattage and actuallly I could iate effect was I felt the engine smoother, probably cause the fuel pump gets the power it needs.
5. Very Good brightness, plus it has a good cutoff, so unless I use the high beam, no one is blinded by it.
Downside:
1. They are exactly as bright in white as the 60W halogen was. So in terms of brightness it wasn't a jump for me. Those upgrading from 35W will notice it.
2. They are probably not legal, even though they have the cutoff, and they are within the regulations. But I need bright lighting.
3. there is a weird glare on the sides. So if someone is standing at the side, he might get blinded by the light.
4. No guarantee.
5. Installation is a pain. I was fortunate that the bulb went in, if it was any other, it might not. The heatsink is too big.
Hope this helps!
Are you facing flickering issue at engine idle when both low beams are ON?
I have just bought Novsight a500-n15 which is 25w per bulb from Aliexpress.
Product is amazing. Currently only one bulb is ON in low beam (stock setting). But the issue is when I switch to high beam, it flickers at engine idling. So I guess if I connect both the lights on low beam, it will flicker too.
P. S. Installed new 5amp battery and rr unit 2 months ago. Last week changed whole wiring harness. Pilot lamps are also led.Last edited by B7ACKTHORN; 01-10-2020, 10:08 PM.

Yes, I am using Nighteye 50W Set (25Wx2bulbs). They flicker at low beam in idle, but not visible as such because my bike's idle rpm is about 1450-1500. If it is below 1200-1250, then it may be noticeable.Originally posted by petronas View PostHi,

Re: Aftermarket LED headlamp upgrade
Too much flickering would mean the chip of the LEDs aren't that great at low voltages. LEDs usually don't flicker unless their voltage is too low or the chips aren't of good quality. Though their lighting and stuff would be great, they start to flicker at idle and what not. Since you're having a brand new RR and an even higher rated AMP battery, your light should be steady as sun light. But nothing to worry, mild flickering is okay but use it while it lasts.Originally posted by petronas View PostHi,

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
My Bike is now on 34000km. Two-Three months before, an weird cracking (or bearing failure type) is coming from the rear suspension / swingarm joint unit. I replaced the swingarm bushes, bush rod & greese-ed them from a very good service center in Bangalore. But, still I can listen the cracking sound whenever I go over speedbreaker a li'l fast or fall on deep pothhole. What can be reason? Swingarm crack or Suspension needs overhaul or replacement?
If suspension is the culprit, then I am planning to use MT15 Soft Suspension Unit into R15v2, is it possible or not?
Lastly, I am hearing tappet/timing chain noise at the warm engine in intial 10-20seconds, after the sound vanishes. Is Decompression Sprocket bad, or should change whole Decompression Assembly (along with Cam/Pin) and Timing Chain also. The tensioner is changed recently, though.Regards

Answering it back to front. To keep it simple, ticking sound from the head during cold starts mean your valve clearances need to be adjusted, this is considering your timing chain tensioner is in good shape. Secondly, swing arm cracks are extremely, extremely rare, unless it's a RE HimalayanOriginally posted by saikatbyte View PostMy Bike is now on 34000km. and if it's a crack, it would be far more easily observable. The squeaking/cracking sound can be due to a bust rear shock absorber or the the Crosslink mechanism requires lubrication and replacement of faulty bearings. Only by removing the rear Crosslink and the shock absorber will we know what's actually at fault.
Regarding the MT15's shock, I have no clue as to this one. If the length of the shock and the bolt eyelets are of the same diameter, then why not!

Here are two links Amzn & AliexpressOriginally posted by petronas View PostAre you facing battery drain issue?

Buy, H4 & 50W (25Wx2) only.
Not sure, you will get the aliexpress items in India because the customs clearance procedure is strict now. But, in amazon it is available in slightly higher cost.
They will not affect battery, I am running them on Exide stock battery for approx 3 years.Regards

I have it's next version which has same wattage 50w (25wx2). After an hour of usage in heavy traffic, it seems battery starts to drain.Originally posted by saikatbyte View PostHere are two links Amzn & Aliexpress

Not sure what is the cause.Originally posted by petronas View PostI have it's next version which has same wattage 50w (25wx2). After an hour of usage in heavy traffic, it seems battery starts to drain.

May be: i) battery is old and not holding charge, or ii) RR unit is not charging when hot (in traffic), or iii) the headlight itself is drawing more than 25w.Regards
