My Odo reading at the time of this issue was around 22500 kms. Drain intervals are the same as usual service interval that is given in the manual (3000 kms). How could I determine whether its bad bore or valve oil seals issue. The guy who owns the service center told me that at higher rpm when you open throttle and you do see increase in rpm but not speed then it could be block piston issue. Currently I am on trial and error time period of one week. Will be checking the bike this weekend for drop in oil level to confirm the issue. Is the cost of block piston kit genuine?

What rubbish that's a sign(more rpm less speed) of a blown clutch plate not a bad bore.
            Btw which oil you use??
Does it smoke at high rpms ?
What amount of oil do you lose?

The clutch plate was checked and it was found to be burnt. Got it replaced. Yes there was smoke that came out when they revved the bike to higher rpm's. That is when the owner asked to do other test such as oil level check, clutch plate check. The oil level was down by about 300 ml. I used Yamalube synthetic oil which is recommended during usual servicing. I have changed the oil now to Motul. Will be heading this weekend again to service center to check the oil level again.

The oil level was down by around 300 ml and I had completed around 1500 kms after my usual service.
Isn't this part covered under warranty that is provided by Yamaha?

Hate to say this but this rate is abnormal.
You have to get your engine opened and check for ring condition and bore condition(scratches on the liner) along with valve oil seals

I get 50-80ml less after every oil change(1500 kms)
The worst I got was 140ml less when I did 1600 kms in 1 and half days (mostly above 110) back in December.
                        Bore is still stock.
So according to my knowledge your oil consumption is indeed worrisome.

@vinay21987 Your mechanic probably left his wits back home, washing his hands after that cursed meal from this wife. Rest what Raza said, to keep it simple such rate is not at all right level. Even the Dukes have a threshold of 60 to 70 ML/per 1000 kays. So, whichever ballpark we use, your oil consumption is at the RED zone. Secondly, going through your follow up posts. These are precision engines, right mechanic mood also plays an important role in getting your bike sorted especially when it comes to block and piston seating and timing and stuff.

To keep it simple, when your engine RPM increases with the vehicle not budging, then we have clutch issues.
When the vehicle is revved hard after a properly warmed up engine or riding more than 20 kms and you see white smoke all the way, your rings, stem oil seal and valve seats might be culprit here.

                          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

That is something that was determined the last time when I went to the service center. Have changed the oil to Motul and will be going to check the oil level again in next couple of days to determine if there is any drop in oil level again or not. Also, just for my knowledge, aren't the valves, piston replacement covered under warranty as they are engine components?

The thing is that I have a good rapport with the owner of the Yamaha service center. He was the one who determined that there is an oil eating issue by the bike as when the mechanic revved the bike hard, there was smoke coming out of it. He checked the underside of the exhaust and found black deposit in it. That is when he asked mechanics to check engine oil level and clutch plate. I have changed both clutch plate and engine oil. Was asked to wait and check for 10 days. Planning on going to svc again to check engine oil level of the new oil. Moreover, even now if I try to rev the bike above 90 kmph, the engine doesn't feel comfortable. The bike just start giving up as I climb more speed. (P.S: I do not ride at very high speed. Usual riding speed varies between 60-80 kmph. Once in a while I try to redline the engine).

Actually oil below the exhaust typically means we have a oil in the combustion chamber which means the engine burns the oil with fuel resulting in smoke. Does the bike remain the same even after the clutch plate replacement same w.r.t pick up and power delivery?
