    I am new to this forum and a big fan of this thread.
    I am planning on purchasing the Yamaha R15 v2 or R15S depending on how the test rides go.
    Before i take the plunge i have some questions which if answered will help me in taking a much better decision.
    1. Is there any news on whether if Yamaha will launch an updated R15 V2/S model(by new model i mean new colors/ some cosmetic/mechanical updates before launching the v3)
    2. Is is worth buying the R15 v2/S now or should i wait for the R15 V3? I know that it has already been released in Indonesia but wanted to know when it will be released in India.
    3. I am staying in Bangalore and would like someone to advise me on which Yamaha Showrooms are good, both for purchasing and for servicing. I did search the thread but couldn't get any relevant info on this.
    4. How do i find out the manufacturing month and year of the bike? I did do a Google search for this and found out that the 10th digit in the VIN number is for the year. Any way to find out the month of manufacturing?

    Please help.

    I dont know any updates about r15v3 launch in india. Regarding Pre delivery inspection, U might wannt to look into this http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...on-thread.html

      Hi, answers to your questions below as per the best of my knowledge:
      1. No confirmed news on the R15 V3 launch in India in near future. In a video interview with Sagar Sheldekar of Powerdrift last month; Roy Kurian (VP Sales, Yamaha) said they have no plans to bring the V3 to India as of now.

      2. The R15 V2/S is a solid all round package in its segment and has been so since the past 8 years. This is a bike that does not pretend to be anything else. It is a true to the core Supersport machine that offers solid performance, feedback and reliability to the rider. If you're looking to sharpen your riding skills before moving to a bigger bike then look no further.

      Also since the V3 is currently only manufactured in Indonesia, even if Yamaha were to import it, you should expect the price to be at least 30-35% higher than the current V2/S models. Which I think would be too much for 155 CC bike.

      3. Maybe some member from Bangalore could advise you on this.

      4. Decoding the VIN to find your vehicle's manufacturing date:

      10th character represents the YEAR of Manufacture

      An Example:

      If your 10th VIN character is A, then it represents the Year - 2010

      Month Codes: No standardized code is followed by two wheeler manufacturers in India, better check with the showroom person when filling form 22 for RTO

      Year Codes:

      A = 2010
      B = 2011
      C = 2012
      D = 2013
      E = 2014
      F = 2015
      G = 2016
      H = 2017

      P.S. The letters "I", "O" and "Q" are never used in a VIN.

      Hope this helps. And wish you the best for your upcoming purchase.

      Cheers and Ride Safe.

          Is the Amaron pro rider 5ah battery better than the stock one? Are there any problem faced after switching to a 5ah battery?

            Hi,
            My friend is using the Amaron 5ah battery on his 2009 R15. He is not facing any issues as the Amaron prorider since it is the same spec 12v DC battery so it is compatible with the R15's electricals.

            It is better in the sense that the stock Exide battery is a 3.5ah whereas the Amaron is 5ah.

            Also you might have to take out the rubber base at bottom of battery compartment to fit the slightly larger dimensions of the Amaron Prorider.

            And it comes with 48 months warranty as opposed to 36 months on the Exide. Considering Amaron is only 100 Rs expensive than the Exide it is easily worth the price difference too!

              Thank you for your valuable replies to my questions. I actually wanted an all black r15 v2 but that color model is not available now. The two available r15 v2 models in black(termed special editions) and the black and green dual tone color in R15 S model do not appeal to me, hence wanted to know if Yamaha plans to launch some new colors before they plan to launch the r15 v3.
              Now planning on buying the revving blue color one since that is the only color which looks better.
              Still having seconds doubts on whether i should book the bike or wait another month and see if Yamaha launches any new color schemes for the R15 v2 or R15 S

              I am planning on buying the bike from Whitefield Yamaha showroom, the one near Forum Value Mall. The showroom is a new one(the SA was telling that they opened shop sometime in Nov'16). Till now the experience is really good. I did get a pretty long test ride of the R15 v2(around 6-7kms).
              The one near the Pheonix mall, Sprint Yamaha, i guess, straightway denied a test ride saying their customers usually book the R15 v2/S without any test rides. I straightway walked out of the showroom.
              Anyways thanks a lot for your heads up on the above showrooms.

                You could wait for one more month, coz Yamaha usually launch their new colours in the March month every year! So have some patience and see what happens!

                  Just touched this milestone on the xbhp Bangalore g2g ride to kotagiri.
                  Switched back to 5100 15w50 found it a bit better than AX7.
                  Chain has finally given up after 68k kms(front sprocket changed twice).
                  The T stem has play so that needs to be changed along with race bearings.
                  Drained oil before the ride it came to 980 ml not bad for a 127000 kms run bore.
                  The repaired clutch housing is beginning to go bad after 8k kms(hero quality has gone down as the rubber dampers were of hero honda super splendor).
                  No non sense sound from the engine.
                  Tappets still at .11 and .21.
                  Getting weird noise when using self start. Mostly starter clutch is bad.
                  The speedo sensor(factory fitted one) is showing readings even when I move the handle bar standing still.

                  This sums up a mini long term review from my side.

                    Need help .

                    I recently replaced steering bearing set . it's been 1500 kms then I start to feel tak-tak sound whenever I apply front brake and going over a rough patch( a large one) . I used to get back to my mechanic he will tighten the grooved nut under the top clamp of fork but after some kms the problem happens again . then I tried to do the tightening myself but no luck .
                    need experts input to solve the issue. Thanks in advance.[emoji4] [emoji120]

                      The bearing has not been set properly in the lower t stem or your t stem is shot.
                      Most likely the bearings have not seated properly.
                      Take them out and re-assemble them.
                      Also once you put the bearing and t stem hammer the lower part of the T stem .
                      Then put the lock nut and tighten it.

                              The symptoms you mentioned are common symptoms for a clogged filter/injector or a bad fuel pump( u will get an abnormal high mileage if it's the last 2) fouled plugs busted plug cap or a bad ignition coil.
                              Could be warped clutch plates too.
                              Check the amount of oil drained in you next oil change and revert back.

                                Could be warped clutch plates too.
                                Check the amount of oil drained in you next oil change and revert back.

                                HI,
                                Mileage have dropped and the odo reading is 13000 KM, so i guess clutch plate should not be an issue.
