• My Yamaha R15 v2 6 months on

Just giving some feed back to anyone wanting to tweak there R15
Yes the new v3 is coming but i have to say it's not very pretty ??
I like the v2 so this is what I have done so far

I've just installed a fork brace best thing I have done since I bought the bike
It takes out the flex in the front end and gives far better feed back and more stable braking as i find the R15 isn't great in the braking department
A steering damper helps too which I have
As for the motor I haven't done any internal work just air flow fuel and spark tweaks

1) Brisk multi spark plug
2 ) racing hh coil
3 ) free flow exhaust
4) free flow air filter

With these mods I gained 8kmh more for every 100 rpm in any gear
Ie) if 5000rpm in 2nd is 38 kmh in standard trim mine does 46 kmh
Not bad for simple and easy modifications

I also suggest when it comes to changing your oil stick to semi synthetic oil
I noticed using the Motul 300v my R15 just didn't like it at all

Hope this helps ☺

Can you post some pics of the machine with these upgrades?

R15 Experts kindly guide me what to do and where to check.
You may check disc brake assembly.in my case it was the culprit

Hey guys. I have an R15 v2.0, has been serving me really well for the last 5 years. There are some issues now - there is a noise when I use the rear disc brake, and when I let go of the accelerator, I hear a clinking sound for a few seconds.

I live in Pune, and just wanted to get some reviews on the good service centres around. I've been to the factory shop in Wakdewadi twice, experience was fine (think they are open on Sundays too?). How is the service centre in Baner (King's motors) - have seen pretty bad reviews on Google though.

Or are there any good independent mechanics for YZF R15 here in Pune you entrust your bike with? I'm basically looking at getting these issues resolved, and getting my clutch cable changed too.

Cheers

Not sure about Baner's svc but I've been giving my bike out to free service to the Monarch Yamaha Dhanakawadi so far.
Those are a friendly bunch of people, not very highly technical but they'll try their best to address any issue you'll tell them. Give them a shot.

Regards.

For the gears use MOTUL 7100 15W40/ 15W50

Which numerical in the VIN denotes the year of manufacturing?

The 10th character in the VIN number denotes the year of manufacturing
In your case it is a G which means 2016
For a 2017 manfuactured vehicle there will be a H at the 10th position of the VIN number

I had exactly the same problem on my FZ after the time I crashed and had the entire fork assembly plus handlebar changed. Sadly, this problem was never resolved in the next two years of my ownership despite multiple visits to the SVC and my trusted mechanic. Every time I hit a bump or braked hard, the handlebar felt loose and a bit wobbly.

However, in your case as it's a DIY, a visit to the SVC could help fix it.

Sometimes it differs from mechanic to mechanic....even i had the same problem....got changed it once the problem was mot resolved by the new bearings too.....he suggested change again ......no matter how much it was tightened it had same problem....showed it to another mechanic and he tightened it don't know how but the problem was resolved

Boy! I had the same thing happened to my FZ-16 exactly like ALI.R. I was trying to take a U-turn, a moron lost control of his scooter and crashed directly into my front end and then rolled over the divider.
Afterwards, every time I applied front disc brake, I used to hear a "cluck" sound. On potholes as well, I used to feel handlebar 'clucking'. I wasn't a hardcore DIY guy back then so had taken the bike to SVCs a few times, they tried aligning the forks and whatnot, the problem never got resolved till I sold the bike.

Regards.

I ended up selling mine too a month back. Bikes seem to never be the same again after a major crash :/

Has anyone faced block piston issue on their bike. What was the cost of block piston kit. I have been quoted a price of Rs 8000-9000 by Yamaha svc. My bike is eating up oil and hence they determined it might have block piston issue
