  • Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0

    Hey guys,
Suggest me some good ways to attain a healthy mileage! I had filled the tank on the first day and the bike had run around 230kms and the fuel meter is showing 2 points now! Which probably means the FE is around 33kmpl! [emoji17]
Note: I mostly ride in city!
Most of them here are getting 40+ and I too need the same! So please give me some ideas regarding this..!! [emoji120]🏻

33 kmpl is okayish mileage in city, if you want to increase mileage shift gears at 5k rpm.

The mileage is low in the run in period. don't worry about it. It will get better after 1st service and still better after 2nd service.
You will also feel the engine heating up during the run in. It all goes away after 2000 kms and the bike gives optimum mileage and is super smooth.
        Ride safe.

        • R15 v2.0 engine problem

Hello all, I've bought a R15 v2.0 8 months back. It was driven for 8300kms. But suddenly 2 days back a strange noise came from my engine and took my bike to service center to ask what's wrong with it? The service man checked my bike and said that Engine piston and Engine head got damaged due to Oil pump was not working properly! i was so shocked and said that i was changed my engine oil just one month back that too 6300kms. There is no fault on me & I asked him to replace my engine or bike! But he denied to replace the engine or neither bike. He said me That he will replace all damaged parts under warranty after that bike will work properly. After then i got so confused regrading that action. If they replace the parts actually what will be happen? Please guys tell me replacing parts will affect any of my bike performance or economy or in future the very same problem will araise or not? Give me some serious advice. Thank you.

Don't worry. All damaged parts, if correctly replaced won't cause any problems.

              Hi Guys,

My Odo reads at 250 kms...I have two issues

              1) Off late when the engine heats up ( after 3 km ride ) I hear clattering sound from the engine between 3k rpm and 4k rpm especially during the 1st and 2nd gear...

2)Let's say I have parked the bike and started the bike after a ride.. when I start the bike I hear kech kech sound..but after 1 minute the sound disappears

Hope someone could highlight as the bike is brand new.

Heating up is a new bike is normal. The engines gets polished during run in and hence much more heat is produced during this period. Nothing to worry about.
Regarding the sound and noises coming from engine, it is very hard to comment where the sound is coming from without checking the bike out in person. So my advice would be to get these issues sorted out by the Authorized service center, when you go for the first service.
                Ride Safe.

Well, you hose it down barring the radiator part. No pressurized water through that thing. Also, not a lot of pressure around the petrol tank cap.

Talking in pure Physics, no matter how you hold the pipe, pressure remains the same. But I'm talking about pressing the open end of the pipe which gives you the feeling that water is now gushing out with more pressure.

                      So, in layman terms:
I wash my bike's console, tank, engine area and headlamps with open mouth of the pipe (seemingly low pressure) and blast the rest of the bike with the pipe squeezed to 20% it's size for that blast of pressure.
                      Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

                        Discharge from a pipe Q is equal Area X Velocity , Q=A.V

Since discharge is more or less same, area is inversely prop to velocity , i.e. more area = less velocity , less area = more velocity

In addition i wash dirtiest sections like underbelly , tyres and rims first , then wash painted parts . Followed with part waxing by removal , that gives us better finish and no unwaxed areas.

Did the Chandigarh - Srinagar - Leh - Manali - Chandigarh circuit from 24th May to 11th June.

Bike performed splendidly, with no issues of cold start, very minor power loss, and no punctures

Approx running was 2700 kms in 17 days, with the bike completing 14500 kms on the odo.

Didn't meet a single R15 or RC rider, or any other biker of my age. Barring the downhill offroading, riding the R15 was amazing, both on and off road. Its great fun to overtake all the other bullets in the small pocket rocket. Grabs a lot of eyeballs, and questions from other people and riders, ' Bullet mein kyun nahi aaye?'

I feel taking your bike is always the best, rented bikes just don't give the same feeling. Will be uploading pics and travelogue in some time

Not just washing, but everytime it gets dry. I clean the chain once a month and lube every Sunday.

My crashed bike was left at the SVC 4 months back, and still not a single job is done on it. But the mechanic guy is very friendly and explains the reason that there are no parts arriving for R15 and fazer! He also showed me all the crashed R15s and fazers still staying over there without any job done. Has Yamaha stopped producing 2014 or earlier R15 and fazer's fairings? Cause all the R15s and fazers waiting over there was either 2014 or earlier models. Has anybody here recently bought any 2014 or earlier R15 or fazer body cowlings?
