Am gonna buy an R15 tomorrow here in Coimbatore. I was super excited about getting my dream bike as just a few hours more to get the bike... But all my excited face faded once when the sales lady told me that your bike will be delivered to you only the day after tomorrow, because they need to take the bike to RTO office for the registration formalities..
Now my worries and queries are do the showroom people will ride my bike sanely to the RTO office? As per the universal biking rule, any new bike should not cross it's RPM limit in it's first 1000 kms. So that guy who ride my bike will follow this with my new baby? Or he will just ride it too harshly?
Somebody please throw some light on this guys! Confused a lot! [emoji30][emoji25]
      Thanks in advance. [emoji120]🏻
I have brought Dio and Fz-s v2 both in bangalore both honda and yamaha dealers did tell me the same thing that the bike needs to go to RTO first before delivery. and also do not be worried that some hooligan from the showroom will ride the bike all the way to RTO office they usually take it in a truck and no worries more than a dozen bikes are taken from the dealers end to get them and some times in batches and its a common practice here I have seen how the fully assembled pieces are brought back to showroom in trucks.
also it might not even be your dealer who took the bike as in my case (Fz-s v2) Perfect riders registered the bike (as written in my RTO invoice) but my showroom dealer was Anurag motors, when I asked about this they told this was done to speed up the process as the Perfect riders had good contacts at RTO office.

Unless someone is intent on wrecking the engine, nothing is going to happen to your ride, and here is some running in advise. While you should be careful about not ripping the bike straight out of the showroom, dont throw a fit if the tacho needle climbs above the prescribed RPM once in a while. Its ok to explore the upper reaches of the rev range once in a while - its a sports bike after all - to allow for the engine to develop its revv happy characteristics its known for.

In short, go easy on the throttle during run in but don't baby the bike either

Yeah, I went for the insurance way and believe me or not, It's been almost 3 months now and they have still not begun the work on my bike, the repair was estimated for around 30 to 32k, I have paid a token advance of 10k. They are saying that the parts have not yet arrived! This is a picture of my bike taken a week

            • Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0

              Hi all,

I own a Honda Twister and up until today I rode an RTR 180 ABS. I've sold off the vehicle and I am looking for a new steed. I was looking at the N300, R3 and CBR250R, but I've decided to include the R15, CBR150R and also the Gixxer150 - the faired version in my list. I am far from taking a decision and am currently weighing my options.

My reasons for including the 150s in the list is simple - I want to keep my options open to having a filler bike for a couple of years too. The quarter litres I hope to keep for upto a decade. Its that way for any bike I hope to own. The RTR just wasn't a keeper as it needs more attention than I can spare. I do the best I can from my end to maintain my bikes. My twister is proof of that - 6 years down the line I've managed to keep the bike in ship shape, with help from the Honda SVC and mechanics, of course. Except for the paint, the bike is as good as new. This is my basic nature.

I post here in hopes of getting advice from you folks on owning an R15, specifically in Bangalore. Is it a long term bike? I've seen forum members having the bike for as long as 6 years(obviously the first version). I detest having to sell off a bike I strive to nurture - selling my RTR was one of the hardest things I've done. Despite all of the troubles I've had with it, I have to say it was a good vehicle.

The R15 would essentially be a downgrade in engine size, but that's how far the word downgrade applies to the R15, I presume. I'd be gratified if you folks could answer a few questions of mine :

              1. What does the recurring cost for the vehicle look like - say 2 years down the line?
              2. I am heavy set - I currently weigh a whopping 108kg and stand at 5'8", but I am hitting the gym, and I'm rather fit for my weight at this point. I do aim at getting as fit as I can, yet I'd like to know if the bike is manageable for someone like me.
              3. The FE is not really an issue with me, but the parents will want to know(I earn, but they still need to pass the bill for me to purchase the bike).
              4. I've seen that loads of guys take the bike on long tours. What does touring on the bike entail - performance and fitness wise?
              5. I've heard tell of a new facelift being around the corner for the bike - R15 V 3.0? Rumours or fact? Should I wait?
              6. I know this is more of a subjective question, but if possible please do answer - coming from the RTR, will I feel the lack of the 30cc? And I have gotten used to ABS, and seeing the R15 doesn't come with ABS, I'd like to know if the brakes are going to make a difference to me. ( you really don't have to answer this )
              7. R15s or R15 V 2.0?
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

              Rides : Honda CB Twister(Feb 2011 - Present) | TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS(Sept 2012 - May 2016) | Honda CBR250R C-ABS Repsol(March 2017 - Present)

                1. What does the recurring cost for the vehicle look like - say 2 years down the line? - Engine oil and oil filter with brake pads depending upon wear, roughly at 12k kms. Easy on pocket to maintain this bike.
                2. I am heavy set - I currently weigh a whopping 108kg and stand at 5'8", but I am hitting the gym, and I'm rather fit for my weight at this point. I do aim at getting as fit as I can, yet I'd like to know if the bike is manageable for someone like me. - I think you will feel the bike a bit underpowered with the weight. Now dont get me wrong, I dont mean to offend you. I am 72kgs and with pillion of say 60kgs, I find the bike to be underpowered, now you do the math. CBR250r, R3, TNT300(costly service) should be the bikes to look for. Even the upcoming baby beemer g310r can be considered, rather should be.
                3. The FE is not really an issue with me, but the parents will want to know(I earn, but they still need to pass the bill for me to purchase the bike). - FE sane riding (no redlining) = 40-45kmpl. Red lining every time = 30-35kmpl (Thats what I get and I dont care about it anyways, this is the only 150cc bike which brings grin on a riders face.
                4. I've seen that loads of guys take the bike on long tours. What does touring on the bike entail - performance and fitness wise? - I have done Mumbai-Goa (600kms+) and many 400kms one day return trips. I never faced any issues, rather the bike always wants us to sit into it and be alert all the time.
                5. I've heard tell of a new facelift being around the corner for the bike - R15 V 3.0? Rumours or fact? Should I wait? - I think cosmetic update wont change anything performance wise.
                6. I know this is more of a subjective question, but if possible please do answer - coming from the RTR, will I feel the lack of the 30cc? And I have gotten used to ABS, and seeing the R15 doesn't come with ABS, I'd like to know if the brakes are going to make a difference to me. ( you really don't have to answer this ) - R15 has the best brakes I would say. The front end even on hard braking is rock stable. Absolutely I mean it. It has never given up on me. RTR180 is below R15 in terms of performance, handling, stability, reliability. No offence to any RTR owners, but thats a known fact.

I would say ABS should be compulsory on all bikes atleast in India where traffic rules arent followed. No ABS=Compromise on safety.

                7. R15s or R15 V 2.0? - If pillion comfort is must for you, then R15s, if you are ,mostly going to do solo ride, R15v2 no doubt

Got my R15s today and observed the following...

                      1) Bike seems to little wobbly at slow speeds ( around 5 to 10 kmph ) and I find it normal after 10kmph.

(I am not quite sure of the wobbly is the first time I am riding R15, earlier I had CBR 250 and Duke 390 ) Any thoughts ???

                      2) Please suggest Good ASC in Chennai. I stay near Anna Nagar....Any place closer to that would be great.

                          Hi all,

Back for more - I wanted to know ho the R15 will do in traffic. How is the low end torque - good enough for ambling around town? Or is it a high spirited vehicle? I tested the CBR150R and absolutely loved it - but it doesn't check the right boxes. The engine needs to be worked to reach the sweet spot. I will go take the TR for the R15 soon, but I don't get to take them out to the kind of traffic I'd like to take them to. :/ Hence the question.

Also, what is the OTR price for the V 2.0? Is it cheaper than the CBR? The showroom guys quoted a whopping 1.47lakh for the CBR150R...

R15 has ample low end torque to take quick overtakes as well as for ambling around in town. Its also a high revving bike and certainly has the power above approx 7000rpm. Yes, r15 is cheaper than cbr150r.

CBR has a heavy handle, duke 390 has metzelers in the front, r15 has a light handle and MRFs in the front. Maybe the combination is creating that feel. Did your tank have approx 8ltr of fuel when you felt this?

So I take it the torque distribution is even across the RPM range, although the max torque is generated at 7.5k?

Check the air pressure of the tires and make sure that it is according to the specifications. If this doesn't solve the wobble, there is some problem with the fork or coneset.
                                Get it checked.
