Thanks both of you guys. Both the ways look okay to me, by this weekend I'll get one of these done.

(UPDATE) Mileage crisis after first service -

So I got my bike serviced at 1100 KMs as first free service and afterwards, as I reported in the R15S thread, the bike seems a little heavier to pull now, as far as the acceleration and the mid level grunt is concerned. However the biggest problem I'm facing is a sudden mileage drop.

I mentioned earlier before the first service I got as high as 50 KMPL but I wasn't ripping the bike above 5K 90% of the times, for obvious reasons.
But after the first service, I took the bike to 7.5K, keeping it lower than that almost 90% of the times, giving it high revs bursts just to keep it's character intact, and now I got a mileage of 25 KMPL. That's low by any standards, I didn't even rip the bike that hard I know.

Did anyone face this as well or have any idea what's going on in here? (For both the issues)

    Regards.

Even I faced the similar issue after 2nd service. I was getting 52+ consistently but after the service I was getting around 40-42 kmpl with the similar driving style. Looks like they have fiddled with CO setting in the ecu. During 3rd service I complained to the service centre and now I am getting 49-50 kmpl irrespective of the driving style. Check with the showroom and reset the CO setting if they have done.

I would've settled for 40 but 25 is straight nuts.
I'll have to check with them for the CO setting if they changed any.
        Thanks for the response.

Yeah, 25 is too damn low. Something is definitely wrong here. I got 60+ on mine, even though it was high altitude, and a mountainous (Leh to Manali)

60+ you can get only when you are descending from a mountain and next no throttle is used

I have taken a pic of my D200 giving 63 when descending from malshej ghat unfortunately can't post as login from ofc

I also got 58-60 kmpl on my R15s. It has been tuned for delivering mileage. But the power delivery is still the same v2.0. It touches 140kmph and above.

Without using throttle? You mean that you just turn off the bike and come down with the transmission in Neutral? I heard that this way of riding is not healthy for the bike! Is it so?

Is there anyother option for my bike to return a decent mileage?

Edit: Mine is still in engine break-in period! Has completed 500kms.

Dude that's just unbelievable. I mean, what's your riding style? Do you even rip the bike a little?

Brother, I too am getting a healthy mileage of 55-60 for the past 2.5 years of ownership.
My riding style is, I accelerate quickly to my cruising speed which is 60-80 depending on the traffic. Change gears at about 6k rpm. And usually I ride at 5-6k rpm doing about 60-70. I use minimum brakes. If I spot a red light 200 mts away, I release the throttle and let the bike coast on top gear. So by the time I reach the red light my speed comes down to 35-40 from 65-70. Then I pull clutch and brake to stop at the light and simultaneously shift down to proper gear. Then again when the light turns green accelerate quickly to 60-70. This gives me mileage like a splendor and my brake pads last 3 times as long as other people. To be honest all the uncles in my colony think I am trolling them, when I tell them the mileage. They can't accept that my racing bike gives more mileage than their activas .
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

for those who are confused by these high mileage figures - R15-S and R15v2 (2014 and later) indeed are supposed to return high mileage because these have some improved oxygen sensor or something like that (i forget the specifics) which is supposed to be better for the bike's fuel efficiency, and the R15S also weighs a few kgs less...

if your R15 is not an S or is a pre-2014 version, you are not supposed to get such high mileages (except if you never rip the bike at all and always do very sedate riding in which case consistently getting 45kmpl in R15v2 is not unheard of), and your mileage will lie between 30-40 kmpl depending on your bike's, fuel's, roads' and personal riding conditions..
