I recently switched to YL full synthetic. It's last roughly 2000kms and there is considerable drop in oil level such that I couldn't find trace of oil in dip stick. Got scared and went for oil change and found about 150ml drop in quantity. (note - most redlining with Leo Vince FFE) Also witnessed oil in air filter box. I think that mostly because of my riding style.
But at first time I switched from YL s.synthetic to full synthetic I felt a very tight engine running feel every day for initial 10-20 kms. After that the engine revs as usual.
    1. YAMALUBE semi-synthetic to full synthetic?. please clarify as I thought the pic I've posted above ( YAMALUBE Sporty Premium ) is the only oil yamaha recommends for use in the R15 and R3 ( yamaha-india website says so ). If you've used semi-synthetic before switching to full, did you use any other YAMALUBE oil?

Explore Yamalube products in India for motorcycles and scooters ranging from mineral, synthetic engine oils for 4-stroke & 2-stroke engines, coolant, fork oil, gearbox oil, chain clean and lube along with 2-wheeler care products such as shampoo, polish etc.

    2. what is your personal opinion about the fully-synthetic YAMALUBE?. do you recommend switching to other fully-synthetic oils like the Shell Advance Ultra and Motul 7100 4T?. or should we stick with the fs yamalube itself?

    3. Leo Vince FFE -> i am unable to understand....please clarify

I haven't yet used any other oil other than Yamalube . . So can't suggest on it . I personally find Yamalube is fine for me but heard Motul 300v is good .

            1. i see...thanks for the clarification....

            2. thanks again for info....I have a feeling that Motul 300V would be a bit of over-kill for the R15.....

if any of you R15 owners has used Motul 300V in your ride, please post your opinion/experience here....

P.s. Pure personal opinion formed after riding almost 1.10lakh kms and virtually using all oils (bar lal ghoda etc). So not getting brick bats from happy 300v users will be appreciated.

Threw the pilot sporty out and fitted the stock mrf. The confidence that lost with Michelin pilot sporty, came back.
After a while using the tyres with less grip, you forget what this bike is capable of, and you settle with it.

The reason the pilot sporty bad in dry/worst in wet conditions is because of its rubber, even after a 200kms non stop ride, pilot sporty is barely warm. At the same time the stock mrf rubber becomes hot and sticky(indicating higher grip levels).

Got it replaced by svc, they charged 1900/- including fitting.

For guys looking for tyre change,
Never settle for known bad tyres like pilot sporty. The stock tyre is of soft, sticky compound and those characteristics are not found in other tyres manufactured, by mrf.

Even if you have to stop riding the bike for a week or so to find the stock tyre, its well worth it.

Yamaha moved from 20/15w50 to 10w40 grade for the recent machines. Its also printed in R15s manual. Infact yamaha sporty premium doesnt feel like synthetic at all. Within 2.5k kms the smoothness is lost. I am planning to replace with Motul 7100 10w40 after next service

that motul recommendation chart makes me wonder if that 5100 hybrid oil (which btw also costs less than 7100 and of course 300v) actually provides "superior" performance ? in the oil's description one of the things written is that it leads to improved shear and high temp resistance and smoother shifting. anyone here knows (or has experienced) if that's true or if it's just some advertising stuff companies write and in reality it differs in performance by only a tiny bit from 300v or 7100 ?
