      True story mate.
The saving grace being whenever i visit for spares the price of the spares are so damn cheap it makes up for all the frustrations. I go through the same type of spares in my R15 too in roughly the same intervals but they dont act up weirdly before going bad they just go bad in an instant (just like a bulb fuses) and i end up paying much more for the R15 for the same spares.

        3. Since the bike has not run much it might form some sludge. Change the oil to Shell Rimula R4 with new oil filter and observe the oil color after say 1000 kms
        4. Check tappet setting. If its too tight there will be power loss and chance of burning exhaust valve.
        5. Replace new tire and lubricate the chain with gear oil with recommended slack.
        6. Check Regulator/ rectifier for proper charging of battery. If the battery is weak, replace it with 5 amp battery
        7. Flush old coolant and replace with new coolant. Same applies for brake fluid.
        Hi Vijay,
Also would you mind suggesting me some good option for rear tyre for my R15 which could provide decent grip in both dry and wet surface. And can hold ground on triple digit speed.

        • Yamaha R15 v2.0 Engine Oil

I've done 6200 kms in 1 year. For the first few services the service centre used Yamalube oil with Additive. Lastly, I gave my bike for service in a different service centre where they used only Yamalube. Previously, my bike used to growl and gear shift will not be so smooth (when Yamalube and additive was used). Now, when only Yamalube was used, the same growl is still there along with vibrations and gear shift is still not smooth. Should I change my engine oil to something else? Will it solve the issue and my bike be smooth without any loss in performance?

            Nothing beats stock MRF tyre.

On the other hand a bajaj engine vibes, leaks and is unrefined but it's not "FRAGILE". It wont seize going to the next tea shop for a cigarette.lol.
I have seen many R15 which smoke like a 2 stroke and many with seized pistons within 45k kms. on the other hand, i have seen leaking pulsars doing 50-60 k kms without any engine overhaul.
I am no fanboy of any brands and my R15 has done 1.10 lakh kms on stock bore. It's more down to how you maintain and ride the bike rather than any DNA-related issues.
Sadly bashing bajaj for everything has become a fashion these days.

P.s. you owned 3 yamahas so do i and i owned 3 bajajs too so can say appropriately.

Very rightly said mate [emoji2] 👍
              Even I also had 2Bajaj and 2 Yamaha's
My first ride bajaj 150 - I cannot forget this bike done 22k in less than 2 years .
Though the engine seized reason running without oil .. I don't blame bajaj for that , the kind of riding I was doing that time, even honda will not pass these many kilometres .
Bajaj 220f - Done 40k+ kms no engine issues, has maintained speeds above 145kmph for continuous 160km -this is enough to explain the torture given [emoji13] .
Yamaha Fz-s - Done 70k+ kms engine seized at above 65k kms reason running without oil .. [emoji40] again many tortures given to this bike too ..
Now R15v2 5months 12k kms done no issues .. Still given enough tortures to this too.
In hills- Riding above 8krpm most of the time .

So , it's all about how you maintain your bike and bike will reward you the same way ..

                Service done today :
                Kms - 13438
                Last odo - 10400
Last oil Yamaha SPR 10w40 used it for ~3000kms (oil was burnt but still has some life as per mechanic)- was not able to visit SVC due to time limitations .
Oil changed to Shell Advance Ultra 10w40 . this is the first time I am using any shell oil . Planning to use it till 4-5k kms (suggestion welcome) will update the feedback after 500kms ..

+1 for stock MRF .. Has tested it in almost all wet conditions my feedback is this is awesome tire with straight line braking even in wet conditions (depends how you use the brakes)

I have completed 16k on odo and i am planning to change the chain and sprocket, i need advice on sprocket drive ratio. how should i alter the sprocket teeth to get better torque distribution, is it possible? or is it limited to just acceleration and top speed. Altering the sprocket ratio gives either more acceleration or more top end speed, i need to know whether changing the sprocket ratio help in easing the regular gear shifts. Should i be changing the tyres of the bike?

                      Hi guys,
I own an R15 S which is 5 months old and has done 3.2k on the odo, got the second service done at 2.4k. After the second service the mileage has dropped considerably(<40), before the service I used to get >45 easily and my driving style has been the same, my average speed is around 60 and I don't rip it a lot. I have seen ppl talking about the CO setting, can someone here throw some light on that? What is that setting actually and can we check it ourselves or should the SVC guys do it?

                      Thanks

Please check the idle rpm when cold and hot . it should be between 1300-1500 in cold and 1200-1100 when hot ..
During service has they cleaned the air filter properly?
Our bike does not need that CO setting as it comes with oxygen sensor and its fuel injected . Yeah this can be altered but not this early ..
Other members please add if missing anything .
Also check the tyre pressure regularly..

Guys today I noticed one strange thing with petrol reading.
F trip meter started even with the last point not blinking ..
Rode for 16km and then F trip meter went after 2-3 kms the last petrol bar started blinking and F trip meter came .
                          Question :
                          1. When exactly this F trip meter comes ?
                          2. When the last fuel bar start blinking (as far as I know its when bike has exact 1.9 ltr petrol)

It's time to change my bike's engine oil I have been using Motul 300v 15w50 after 15,000 kms. Since I am not a hardcore rider so I don't feel like investing into this anymore. Can u suggest me good oil value for money? My bike has completed 26,000 Kms
                            Thanks
