Beautiful lever. Sad to see this broken. I was looking for Moxi 3 way adjustable levers , so it wont break in event of fall. Looking at the quality of Yamaha levers, Its irresistible.

After going through several pictures it seems like the rubbers are like "Cush Drive" aka Torque dampers which take up the jerkiness from the engine and drive train. The rivets are just to hold the back plate nothing to do with transferring of power to the gear box.
Just to give the concept of how this works below pic will be useful
Those cush pads are the parts that go bad and give way to vibes. Super splendor cush pads are a direct fit but they are useless too
I never said the rivets are helpful in transferring drive. I didn't get you at all.
      Thanks for the pics.
I replace it whenever the sound becomes unbearable and the vibes in the right bars and footpegs become a bit more hassling than normal(usually around 30k kms).
You can ignore it if you feel like it but i change it better safe than be sorry.
Anyways i just have to pay for spares only, most jobs are done by me.

No issues.. that was my perception till I saw that video. I can blame the material of construction, couldn't handle the high revving engine

Let's say me and my friends have so many bad experiences with it that we stay away from it.
I will prefer running my bike with water instead of 300v

I am planning to order Motul 7100 10W40 from Amazon. Do you have any other preference for oil

yes it could be concluded that the flimsy material gets eaten up by the engine torque. Again this hasn't been sorted out since 8 years. If they can do this it would be awesome as this housing issue is the only fly in the ointment. Apart from this the rest of the engine is pretty solid and may last a decade with sane riding and regular oil changes.

7100 is an awesome oil AFAIK but i used the 20w50 variant. i drained it around 2000 km and the best part is it looks as if it came out of the bottle. Its a sturdy and high quality oil. I drain oils religiously at 1500-1700 kms (2000 kms max if there is some unavoidable circumstances) so i dont see the point in using an expensive oil for 1500 kms. I use Shell AX7 10W40 or Motul 5100 15W50(Motul 3100 20w50 for some time). I am happy with my current procedure. Don't see a point in putting an expensive oil and dragging it for 4k kms in traffic when i can change the oil twice at a still lesser price for the said kms. Engine gets fresh oil every 1500 kms i get peace of mind.

As I am also planning to change from 300V but as per new yamahalube their full synthetic comes 10w 40 grade. If I am putting Motul 7100 which grade should I put 10w40, 20w50? Lastly when I asked in this thread someone told me to put 15w50 but my dear friend Motul 7100 15w50 grade is no-where available. Also Motul 7100 20w50 takes time to reach head.
Now I am totally confused what to go for. Also I don't ride much aggressive only sometimes in highways.

Have you read the workshop manual?? The recommended grade is 20w40 or 20w50 if its a hotter climate like ours.

Secondly this is no superbike with a dry sump that u need utmost flow at all times. If you warm up properly there wont be any issue. I was running motul 3100 20w50 for 30k kms. i currently use shell AX7(10W40) as i found it better than 3100. If due to some magic Motul halve the price of 7100 20w50 i will use it again.
If you are so specific about 10Wxx oil then you can use 7100 10w50 or 10w40 no issues it will be good.

                      • Lost the Air Screw of my Yamaha R15 2012

It's been around fifteen days since I've been riding without an air screw on my R15, my concern is that will it damage my machine running without an air screw the idle RPM climbs up to 3k but settles down momentarily, I asked for the air screw in the Service Center and they said that the air screw doesn't come separately, it used to before but now it doesn't. I wanted to know that which bikes air screw are of the same specs as of the one in the R15, Please Help!!!.

                        • Engine bogs while sudden acceleration and loss of power over the whole revv band.

It's been 4years since I've had my R15 and about 7-8 months ago my bike had severe water damage, the bike was under water for 2days as the basement had flooded. When they pumped all the water out I got my bike repaired at the Service Centre, since then the idle RPM could not be set to more than 1.1k, the engine kept stalling, loss of power could be noticed. I've got the Throttle Body and Fuel Injector replaced as the mechanic suggested, still the engine wasn't producing enough power so the mechanic asked to change the Fuel Pump so I had it done, still the bike doesn't have enough power, the bike produces blue smoke when I give high throttle input while standstill, I thought that the valves adjustment/ECU would be the problem but my mechanic says that the valves are fine and as for the ECU he said that if any damage is there (water damage) it would get fried up and the bike won't work, but my concern is that I t might be the ECU failing, maybe it's out tuned due to water damage.

Told you it works like a charm. It works well on almost any bike which matches the same rating.
300V is in my opinion an overrated oil.

Hi Paul, I have replaced the fairing for my bike but not for the special edition. But I am very much sure you will get the headlight mask and the right side fairing from the yamaha service center.

The headlight mask should cost you 800/-
But the right side fairing should be pretty costly 2500/- I have left it like that since a good sense of stickers would cover it of.
