Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Are you facing any trouble with the chain and sprocket set? R15 (versions) comes with high quality DID chain kit and chain alone cost around 2k . If the chain is fine without binding, roller damage replace both sprockets.Originally posted by Abhi599 View Post

Hi,Originally posted by D.j View PostPlease check the idle rpm when cold and hot . it should be between 1300-1500 in cold and 1200-1100 when hot ..
During service has they cleaned the air filter properly?
Our bike does not need that CO setting as it comes with oxygen sensor and its fuel injected . Yeah this can be altered but not this early ..
Other members please add if missing anything .
Also check the tyre pressure regularly..
The idle idle rpm reads correct as you mentioned and also I check the tyre pressure regularly, about the cleaning of air filter I'm not sure about the SVC, I gave for service at Bangalore Wheels, Rajajinagar, I feel the their service is not up to the mark, can you suggest any good service center in Bangalore?
Thanks

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hello everyone. I am new here own a r15 v2 2013 done 22k kms. I have been following this thread for a long time and now its time for a query from me. My bike is out of warranty and all the maintenance is done by me only. Service centres are useless and they are only interested in oil n filter change. The problem is that monsoons have destroyed roads here in assam and no hope for repair. So please suggest tyres. For front i have finalised Michelin 90/90 pilot street(?). But for the rear i am hesitating. Can i downsize to 120/80 ? And i am a sedate rider have no options of riding in a highway. Bike is currently being used as a commuter only. Anyone tried with 120/80 size? Will it fit? If yes what tyres do you suggest in this size considering very bad roads no roads where it will be used. Thanks in advance.Last edited by sloth; 07-23-2016, 02:30 PM.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Looks like lots of price correction happened for Yamaha. When I bought the bike in feb 16 , I saw some price for R15 in Indiaspares. Radiator assy was around 2300 bucks, coneset 2800 and horribly expensive piston rings and bore set. Now I revisited the site and the prices are even make me faint so some spares. Good news is the cone set is priced below 1000 and piston rings for 300 bucks. Radiator cap assembly, I faintly remember for 250 bucks is now 3024 INROriginally posted by black asp View PostDepends on what you are looking at.
The parts (i.e. engine parts) are dirt cheap and are okayish afaik. The R15 parts are horrendously expensive and are awesome in quality.
My logic is even if i change my bore kit(ya reboring in an already wafer thin linered bore of 220 ain't the best thing to do though there are guys who rebore it for reasons unknown) every 40k kms it comes to around rs 5000-6000 for 90k kms for spares that's cheaper than R15 run for the same kms on a single bore(11k approx for baby R1's bore).
For example, take the cone set which costs 27-2900 almost 5-6 times more than a 220, but doesn't last even 2 times more than the 220.
In short, if you want to have a 20bhp commuter that gets all sorts of job done( highway, a bit of fast riding with good torque) 220 is the bike for you.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
you could try out motul 7100...or even the yamalube FS oils which will probably be even cheaper.Originally posted by zshan0302 View PostIt's time to change my bike's engine oil I have been using Motul 300v 15w50 after 15,000 kms. Since I am not a hardcore rider so I don't feel like investing into this anymore. Can u suggest me good oil value for money? My bike has completed 26,000 Kms
Thanks

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Don't know about these prices last i changed the cone set at around 1.07lakh kms 2 months back it cost me 3.8k including labor charges(in Bangalore). My friend changed his bore kit and crank(2fb series) it cost 10.5k for bore kit and 11k for the crank . Lol compared to those prices this seems like a joke.Originally posted by vijaycool View PostLooks like lots of price correction happened for Yamaha. Don't know man what the spares revision has gone through. Seriously I am speechless looking at prices getting decreased by 10 times. I have got spares from indiaspares( master cylinder diaphragm, gasket, and caliper drain bolt) the spares are genuine and original with the same pricing as mentioned on the website. So if they have mentioned these prices then those will be genuine. Let somebody change the spares with new rates then it will be clear what is the scenario.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
10.5 K for bore kit is unbelievable Current price for cylinder is ~2.5k. Dont ask your friend to compare current prices, he may get heart attack ..lol . It seems like Yamaha parts is now priced sensibly due to stiff competition from other manufacturers who give more bhp's at similar price. Hope Yammie didnt sacrifice on quality and reliability. Cone set bearings are imported from Japan. With the current prices, it should be a Made in India stuff.Originally posted by black asp View PostDon't know about these prices last i changed the cone set at around 1.07lakh kms 2 months back it cost me 3.8k including labor charges(in Bangalore). Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Going by india spares the new bore kit costs 4200 approx which is half of what earlier parts cost. I think all the parts are now indian. I had re-ringed(just the rings ~ Rs2200) my bike 60k kms back due to many things. I had seen the rings they were by Rik a reputed Japanese brands. The piston was by ART another jap brand of awesome quality. Going by the current prices i think those would be made by USHA or escorts(Usha manufactures pistons and bore kits for all pulsars now). Lets hope the quality doesn't come down.Originally posted by vijaycool View Post10.5 K for bore kit is unbelievable Current price for cylinder is ~2.5k. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
You mean even after lac running, the bore is stock. Wow.. I hate dismantling engines often. If opened all subsequent wear and tear parts has to be replaced. What about clutch ? After 10K km my bike is soo smooth and I am finding reasons to take it out often. The bike consistently crosses 52 kmpl inside city after the service.Originally posted by black asp View PostGoing by india spares the new bore kit costs 4200 approx which is half of what earlier parts cost. Ya the bore is stock, tried some dastardly experiments with the bike and had leaking valve seals. Opened up the bore the bore still had light honing marks and no scoring(none at all). The rings were a bit out of spec and my mentor suggested to change the rings if possible as the rings were 50k kms old. So just re-ringed the piston (stock bore )and its going on till now no smoke no oil drop just a single point drop in compression.
The clutch housing well it feels yamaha don't know to make or don't bother to make good clutch housings(same following issues with my Rx135 too). I am on my 3rd clutch housing(tried repairing it with splendor rubber bush but it rarely works). Every 30k kms the "dug dug" (when the clutch lever is not pressed, once you press the clutch lever it goes to normal) sound gets irritating.
I raised this issue 3 years back in this forum(page 600 something) but some rider here told me to shut up and stop talking gibberish.
