Go for it . I used it once was good up to 4000kms with negligible colour change I threw it off after that but regretted it after draining as it was still strong . For me it was the best oil I ever used on my r15

Brothers from Bangalore, HELP.

I recently moved to Bangalore about 2 months ago and got my R15 v2 transported as well. I'm living in K.R. Puram.

My R15 is 1 year 3 months old and I have religiously taken care of it, done all the free services right on time and did everything you guys taught me to. But that was in my home town, where I knew the service center guys and all was well. Now moving to a completely new city with no friends and no idea of how things work in this big city, I'm terribly confused.

Last week my bike was due service. All the free services were done in my home town . It was the first paid service in Bangalore. I didnt knew anyone, so thought it would be best to have faith and go to authorized service center. So I got the first paid service done at Sprint yamaha near Phoenix market city.

The service cost 2550 Rs. And I have to leave my bike overnight at the service center because they said There are too many bike to service .

the cost distribution is as follows:
yamalube 4T 15W50 SL (semi synt) - 480.
chain lube and cleaning - 150
consumables - 65
general checkup charges - 550
LH Front both panel inner rel - 100
brake pad rear - 890

Now my queries are:

1. I dont know how much a paid service should cost, So I dont know if I was fairly charged or not.
2. In free service (in home town) they changed oil filter everytime engine oil was changed, here in Bangalore they said its not necessary. Really??
3. They said that the rear brake pad was completely worn out and the front one was as good as new, But I use the standard 70% front and 30% rear brake. Then how can the rear be completely worn and the front one as god as new?
4. How do I know that the rear pad was really changed. Any way to find out?
5. My bike has done 9.5K kms, is this normal life for a brake pad??
6. If everything is fine, was the cost of new brake pad, Ok or was I overcharged??
7. What is the second last item in the list of services (LH Front both panel inner rel - 100). I didnt pay attention to it when I took my bike from the center.
8. Do I continue to get the service done at authorized service centers or is there any other alternative (I'm new to the city and have no friends yet)??

Please Help...

First suggestion stop going to Sprint Mahadevpura center.
Many riders have complains about not a standardised or quality service provided there.
You can go to Pacer Yamaha, HRBR layout. Google the location would be hardly 4-5kms from KRPuram.

Yes it is not necessary to change oil and filter at every center keeping in mind at what interval you are going for servicing. I usually service my bike at every 5k kms interval. And I use Motul7100 which lasts easily for 5k kms so I change it at that interval.
So you can plan accordingly at what interval you service your bike. And if you use Yamalube then you should change oil and filter at every 3500kms even if your servicing time has come or not. You can change on your own or from local mechanic also keeping an eye on it.

Thirdly changing rear brake pads at 9.5k kms is quite long term. Your brake pads last long man you should be happy.
To check brake pads you should bend to see pads it would look scrapped out or not. You can ask the SVC guy to show you the trick.

Looking at brake pad charge yes it is correct that is the price. But overall servicing charge can be brought bit lower.
Give a try to pacer Yamaha, talk to Kiran or karan there they will suggest you accordingly.

Thank you for the valuable advice brother.
I get my services done at every 3000kms. Will keep in mind your valuable advice next time I go for a service.
Thanks a lot.

My bike has covered just under 8k km. All this time every 800-1200 km i'd have to do a top up. I used to own another R15 before, which needed a top up every 700-1000 km too. Same style riding (lots of high RPM). But since my last service i think i topped up once at around 800k km and since then i have covered around ~1100 km and the oil consumption is practically zero - the level hasn't dropped at all! WTF!? (BTW, i have been on Motul 300V since the last 5000 km or so.)

Also, the engine vibes that came with the switch to Motul 300V (from Yamalube) have gone down considerably in the last 1000 km or so. The engine is also surprising smooth past 9k, very little vibes. All very Strange.

incipient - I thought you sold off the R15, have you bought a new one? Does that mean you'll be going for a track day soon. The summers have kept me off track all this while since feb. planning something in September or October. What say?
Is it the same colour or some other? Any mods you've done?
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Yeah man i sold it off because i had gotten too obsessed with my riding. Didn't do any riding for a full year to focus on my career. But i am riding again...a bit more sane though. New R15 same color (black) :-) Track day at BIC in Sep/Oct? For sure will give a shot this time.

Nope, bought it in Jan. To do that many km's a month I'd have to go touring, which I haven't tried yet.

Dear Bhpians..

An oil change is required since it had clocked 16k kms.. I am planning for Motul 300v 15w50, Hope it will be a best choice. My main doubt is should I go for KnN oil filter or Yamaha Genuine Oil filter during Oil change. Please revert me whether motul 300v is good and about air filter.
