    Hey Guys,

I got a limited edition white-blue pre-owned 2013 R15v2 from a biker friend. I was always a admirer of any Yamaha and was a big fan of any R15. The bike completed 22K on the odo. I changed the tires just after I got her and many things to do very soon.

I'm completely a newbie with R15, What are the things I can give a check to avoid any issue in future?

The thread looks so informative. Happy to join you guys

I have already posted this question in the R15s ownership thread, Want to ask here too

What is the service interval that was recommended for a R15s /R15v2. I was asked to follow 3k kms/70days following the first service completion date.
Dont you think it is too short for such vehicle.

Dont know but if you want warranty then stick to what the manual stays until it gets over.
Apart from warranty i feel 3000 kms is the decent enough service interval(normal svc like oil change air filter clean ) given indian climate and traffic.70 days seems like an exaggeration by yamaha.
So if warranty is not an issue then service it at 3000 kms irrespective of days (given its just days and not half a year or 8 months 9 months)

May you have many many happy and safe miles on your R15.
Apart for the usual servicing, Check if the air filter is clean, replace if necessary and make sure that the coolant level is up to the mark, top up or replace if necessary.
Check both the brake pads, replace if necessary, check the brake oil level, bleed the brakes to get the best braking.

Guys you have to try the 14T front sprocket. Ive been using it for a week and i love it.
I would say it is the cheapest performance upgrade if we think about usable power and top speed. Top end is reduced but i saw 120+ speeds much quicker. No need to downshift if there's an incline and you're doing 70
And when you downshift gears, most likely you'll land in its power range.
But for highway and long tours stock is better as 90kph comes around 7k rpm.
There's also a 13T option available from apache
            Cheers.

Tried it once engine felt a lot stressed and mileage fell like a rock to 23-24 said bye bye immediately. Didnt bother going for RTR's 13 teeth front sprocket.

Is there any recommendations for the front pad replacement with other company pads without sacrificing the feel of OE pads. It seems like my front needs replacement and ran just 12K on the odo.

Better go for OEM , you are lucky you are changing at 12000km, I had to replace at around 8000km, that too F&R

Thanks a lot. Even I was thinking about the same. I think its the sacrifice between progressive feel and pad life. Lucky for me the rear is more than 70% life left and it might come around 30K kms. I know the reason why rear pads have short life even the usage is less. From the factory those bleed nuts are not tightened properly. With the usage I could see brake oil wetting around the threads. Caliper has a Square rubber seal around the piston pushes out and retracts the piston under immense pressure. If this pressure is lost through the bleeding nut, retraction wont happen fully hence pads wear out quickly. I tried to bleed out thrice to get it corrected. Another trick to check rear caliper is once you apply rear brake for sometime and keep it running for another km without applying rear brake. Stop the bike and check the rear disc. If its too hot then there is some air bubbles trapped or caliper slider pin is not greased properly

There are after market pads for R15 from A.S.K. but they are useless af. You wont get the feel or bite from it. It costs like 140 but is very bad at handling braking. Staying stock is the only option .

For my bike crash repair I paid 37k toatlly out of which 10 k was advance and paid 27k while I picked the bike again. I got two bills one was for 27k and the other said "paid 10k as advance". I asked the cashier that the billing is wrong and anyone who sees this will consider, that I only paid 27k out of which 10k is advance. She said "Nothing like that sir, It'll be considered as two seperate bills for 37k by the insurance company, if you still have doubt then confirm with the manger." I also conformed with him, That Maf**ker said the same. Now I only got 17k from insurance, I went to the insurance company and enquired why I got low refund and he said, your bill amount is only for 27k, I explained the situation with him and he said "Sorry sir, the claim is closed. we can't do anything. Go ask the dealers for refund."

Now what do I do. I'm sure those Yamaha service center guys will be completley ignorant and won't listen to me and will walk off. They always do that! Now what do I do? Everyone at home is shouting at me as though it is my fault.

Sorry to hear that, but fault is 90% of showroom and rest 10% of yours ( sorry but i felt it ), you should not have accepted those bills and would have demanded whole 37k single bill and mention of 10k as advance should have mentioned in that bill. Now coming to insurance claim, showroom people would have told them claim of 27k not 37k. What you can do now is mail all bills and explain all situation to yamaha.

Defnitley there is also some mistake on my part, I asked the showroom people twice But still I should have never compromised. I callled a service technician who used to work at that service center and explained the situation he said he'll speak with the manger. Plus, i'm also calling Yamaha tommorrow, Apparently they don't seem to be checking thier mails.

And another problem just poped out, The rear brake light is flickering all the time. didn't find any loose connection on the levers. It looks cool though, like the BMW S1000rr.But don't know if it stays like this forever or turn off completley later on.
