It comes out of cylinder head which is normal but oil with metal couldn't be good right ?
Brother, A new engine has microscopic surface defects, it is not entirely smooth from factory. As the new engine is run, the new engine polishes itself to perfection for the first few thousand kms and that is why it is called the run in period. These silver particles are metal shavings from the engine and denotes that engine is polishing itself, that is why it is necessary to change oil filter on every service for all the free services. It happens with all the new bikes, nothing to worry about. Relax and enjoy your new ride.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Yes you are absolutely right ... I know that ... I was just telling sharma.manik that if he wanted to go an extra mile in 'run in period' he could get his oil changed earlier than recommended period as engine oil has silver contaminants in them and using that oil could be harmful.

So after 7 months of my bike sleeping at the service center, I finally got it back. Complaint mails to Yamaha didn't work. Finally a demand notice letter to Alagendran autos got my bike back but with lots of issues still on the bike!

        1) Some parts that were broken was not replaced, (Cover 3, shift and brake pedals etc.) Whereas some parts that were never damaged was replaced! (Front fender, Rear fender, cover 5, clipons etc)

        2) Some parts were billed for replacement, But never replaced. Still have the old broken parts in it. (left switch assy, throtlle grip and both side bar ends, chain lubing charges )

        3) The front of the bike now vibrates like a tremor patient! The obvious reason is they have failed to screw in the headlight with fairing. (Myself have to remove and fix it now!)

        5) The seat is torn( SVC mistake!) and the RVMs that are on the bike now aren't mine. (Mine were new ones, But these are paint chipped and scratched badly.)

This is the f-ing reason I did most of the maintance jobs by myself and never trusted SVC. Paid 37k for the repair but the bike stills looks like crap.

Can you let us know what yamaha replied to your mails. What SVC has to say on above points, you should have job card right ?

They never replied at all. I got all the reciepts and bills hence finally I decided to go to consumer court. A lwayer adviced me to send a demand notice letter to Alagendran Yamaha before proceeding further. As this will make further steps easier, And as per the demand notice they gave the bike back. The bike seems it was done in hurry as though a teenage girl put on makeups when she is already late to the party.

someone suggested to keep the bike below 5k RPM till 3000-4000 kms. i'd suggest not to baby the bike like that, and i think most riders will tell you the same...

till the first service dont rip the bike and follow the run-in procedures as described in the manual..that is, dont go beyond 5-6k RPM except for very short periods of time once in a while..after the first service you are free to go to as high RPMs as you want, even free to "rip" it...that doesnt mean you have to rip it all the time right after the first service (although the bike would still be fine with it), but nonetheless you can (and should) access the high RPMs regularly...the way to let the engine set in is not to over-care for it and treat it like a baby for several thousands of kms even after the 1st service, but by giving it regular experience of high RPMs...

not that it will harm your engine if you decide to be below 5k rpm for 4000 kms...it's just an overkill of over-caring...this is a solid reliable engine as everyone knows by now...it will set in very well by the time your odo hits 6-7000 kms irrespective of the bike going to high RPMs frequently...besides, 5k RPM is rather low...even if you are skeptical of accessing too high RPMs (say over 8-8.5k), certainly regularly go till 7-7.5k....for setting in a machine to a certain environment you also have to make it regularly experience the environment for which you want it to be smoothened out...

so main point is, after the first service, have fun (in a safe manner of course) with the bike and explore it however you like and thereby let the new engine and other crucial parts experience high performance riding conditions.

Call them on their toll free number. Do take things legally because bill amount you told is not small that too for bike still having defects.

Hello dear Riders.. can you all please have your attention here..
This is about the steering bearing of our bike especially the bottom one which costs above 2k+ sc charges. As it is a thrust ball bearing it is more likely to get damaged soon if we ride on bad roads with potholes or when tried off-road ride. This is also my case as the current one I am running on was replaced just before 10k kms and now it's gone. I googled a lot for a solution and found that Tapered roller bearings are likely to last much longer than the one we have. So I got the measurement of stock thrust bearing which is 30x48x15 (OD=48,ID=30, WIDTH=15) by the use of an electronic vernier gauge. Searched a lot in the local shops for the Tapered bearing of the above size but sadly I knew that not any of the famous manufacturers like Skf, fag, NTN or others are manufacturing the above size bearing.. so I realised that this is a special type one particularly made for R15. So I searched on international online seller pages like Amazon and one brand called Pyramid Parts sells the exact same size one.. I tried purchasing it but due to some payment error my order got cancelled. Anybody here know if we could get the said Tapered bearing in India?, Or if anyone tried or thought about it then share your ideas and suggestions..

                      • SHould I buy an R15 V2 now, with all the V3 rumours?

The only motorcycle in mind after a lot of search and questioning is the R15V2, but with all the rumours of the V3 coming up by this festive season or 2017 yamaha lineup, should I now wait for the V3 or should I go for the V2, any and all information is welcome, please give some for and against thoughts for waiting for V3/going for the V2.

P.S No other motorcycle suggestions please.

Wow.. thanks.. this is what exactly I was looking for . Can you please tell how you paid for the order? And please give the link..
Regarding the installation, I made a tool with a screw rode, 2 plate washers with id=screw rod Dia and Od= Bearing Od or a little bigger to bearing's inner Dia..(I have both size plate washers) and some nuts for the rode.. gently and evenly press the inner race into the frame using a wooden or rubber hammer then use the screw rod setup to drive it into the frame evenly.. you can have look in YouTube videos.. plenty there..

Please tell me the payment method you did as I wasn't able to pay using my SBI card..
