Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Yes.. when the chain is new whatever we apply doesnt penetrate inside O ring. After few 1000 kms the joints are loose enough to pass whatever we apply. Rollers are not freely moving. Looks like it needs a kerosene wash and followed by gear oil. Also automatic chain oiler is the best investment for this bike. R15 is not high powered yet high revving, tightness in the drive line components can be easily identified with the throttle response. The oil is like water and dark. Bought rimula R4 will change the oil tomorrow and seeOriginally posted by ronit1992 View Post

All these days I was using only gear oil for the chain. But for the last 500km, I have used chain lube. This could also be a reason for vibration. Any other reasons for the engine vibration.Just adding to what ronit said, I completley agree with him. I changed from chain lube to gear oil and the difference was immediatley noticable. Gear oil is much better, I didn't face any vibration problems with the chain lube on too. But my friend who still uses motul chain lube on his R15, frequently complains about vibrations. But I still think the type of lubricant used on the chain has very minimal impact for vibration issues.Originally posted by ronit1992 View PostIt happened to me when I shifted to chain lube from gear oil ..trust me for our harsh environment gear oil is better , chain lube don't even last 200km. .
Yet I changed to gear oil for good and never regretted it.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
reading these posts, i guess i am going to try gear oil the next time on my bike's chain and check it out. anyone recommend any brand and/or any particular type ? i see there are plenty in the internet-market.
it's true though, more often than not, the usual chain lube (motul or whatever), while very good in its functioning i am sure, runs dry very soon..for lazy asses like me it's a bit of a bother to keep on lubing the chain every few hundred kms..
the bike chains in general are quite high maintenance in some sense...gets dirty all the time, runs out of lubes all the time...it's a nuisance for lazy people like me to keep it maintained but it has to be done of course....the very nature of chains i guess.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Today I have replaced watery engine oil with Rimula R4. Cleaned the strainer and oil filter and it was good to go. After running 20 kms handlebar vibrations are reducing , engine is slightly more response and visible change was clicky gear change is back. Right from the beginning my vehicle gear box is delight to use. I inspected oil through filler hole and I can see slightly shinier aluminium particles slightly dark. Wondering how long those aluminium stuff keep coming.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
go for auto rickshaw gear box oil. cheap 70-100 bucks per litre so thick it wont fling off like the car gear box oils. Go to any shop that sells auto rickshaw spares and ask them for itOriginally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postreading these posts, i guess i am going to try gear oil the next time on my bike's chain and check it out. anyone recommend any brand and/or any particular type ? i see there are plenty in the internet-market.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hope it was yamaha fs lube. This time its is too vibey after oil change. I go with 3k recommendations. Now its 10600 on the odo. Last service done at 9400km. Cleaned the chain with kerosene and lubed with ATF fluid. Took me almost 3 hrs, some rollers are too tight to revolve due to dried muck and spray grease. Cleaned each and every roller to remove the muck.Originally posted by black asp View Post

Update: After complete clean and lube this is how the bike should be. Added 10 ml of ADON fuel additive to the fuel. Now its back to normal smooth and silky. I am not gonna touch chain lube again but i like Dupont Chain Saver which is a dry wax with ptfe.Last edited by vijaycool; 08-11-2016, 09:01 PM.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hello guys, does dirty chain affects mileage in anyway? Coz I wash my bike once a week, but never lubed the chain even once. It was last done at 240kms in it's first service. Now the ODO is reading 1800kms... And I have been riding the bike very sanely i.e @5k rpm untill last full tank. But I gradually increased it and brought it till 7.5k rpm now! And yesterday when I filled fuel again, the mileage shown was 42.26. Before this thing I got 45.12kmpl in city heavy traffic condition too!
So does this dirty chain affects the mileage in anyway? And my gear shifting is too hard now a days!

Hmm yamalube was crap then and crap now. i thought the new yamalube oil 10w40 was better than the old 15w50 yamalube. Anyways another reason not going for chain sprays as you pointed out.Originally posted by vijaycool View PostHope it was yamaha fs lube. This time its is too vibey after oil change. Was searching forworkshop manual of cbr250r some time back and by chance happened to see a screen shot of cbr900rr service manual. Where they recommended using diesel to wash and 90 grade oil only to lube the chain.
It was specifically mentioned not to use chain sprays as they may affect O rings.
Whatever the case may be the chain sprays get murdered in indian dusty harsh roads pretty soon.

Yes it does. lubing as the name suggests better lubrication and less friction hence less loss and good mileage.Originally posted by Santhu Shyam View PostHello guys, does dirty chain affects mileage in anyway? The harsh gear shifts are clean indicators that your chain is dry and needs lubing.

5. Accelator cable(s) change
6. Fork oil change
7. Coneset change
8. Clutch plates and clutch Bell change.
9. Front and rear brake pads change
10. Fuel injector clean
11. Coolant topup
12. Chain clean and lube (motul)
13. Clutch and accelerator levers switched back to stock
14. Brake oil check
15. Spark plug and assembly change
16. Tank clean
All set now for the ride. Wish me good luck guys. ;-)
