There is no hard and fast rule about the sprocket going kaput. It's on riding and maintenance of chain.... once I remember Mech said that if we don't maintain the chain (washing/setting/lub) then it results in losing of chain in turn resulting in teeth issue in sprockets. There are people who last their more than 20k+

But now it costs Rs 2800 for chain sprocket set, Rs 225 fitting charge.

2K with installation ?? Is this for Pune only ?? Does Pune comes in some different zone ??

Here I enquired right now with two SVC and one said Rs 3300 with fitting and other said Rs 3025 with fitting.

Holy Shit !!! a difference of 800+ I would prefer it from Pune then.

    BTW which SVC ?
    R15 V2 chain sprocket kit - 1 Chain, 1 Rear Sprocket & 1 Front Sprocket - Rs 1478 + Fitting charges - Rs200 + Chain Lubing - Rs 100 = Rs1778

There is a difference of Rs1552

Btw called up Suvarnarekha Yamaha Auto -

Feel free to call them up.

Coming back to the topic - @Kuntal let me know when you need it, can get you kit for much lesser cost, know the source for ROLON brand.

    • Virayani Yamaha Baner Rd Pune dropped the bike on the servicing bay, minor scratches on the fairing on the top part of the fairing, front brake looks out of place, manager said will get things done. God knows what they will be doing and how my bike will feel or handle after dropping sideways from 2 feet above ground. I know Anger, as I have been angry before. But what I feel now is beyond anger or sadness.

Dont get angry or do the wrong things which might screw up more. There is a procedure involved.

Call up Yamaha Customer Care - 1800-420-1600 and tell them what happened exactly. Your issue will be resolved, Also if the Manager has agreed for repairs then stay there and get it done, dont let your bike away from your eyes. Ensure all the repairs are done and you have checked the bike thoroughly. Patience is the key. IF they say come tomorrow then come tomorrow only but stay there dont leave your bike and go.

        Good luck.

EDIT- MY office is 10mins from there, near Sadanand hotel. If you are free drop by.

Chain sprocket usually lasts for 20,000kms. You might want to check the swingarm to know how much life left. Cost of the chain sprocket kit should land you up around Rs2000 with installation. Let me see if i can get in some discount at the base price. Let me know when you need it. Brand will OEM - ROLON
I checked by the signs in swingarm only.
its almost at the edge and it's been hard to tighten the chain anymore aswell.
may be next servicing (~18K kms) will replace them..Thanks buddy

            • I thought Pune was experiencing cold weather, things seem hot here.
On the sprocket issue, had posted before, and posting again.

              - The SVC Eshan is talking about does quote the price of sprocket at what he speaks, I had one of my services here and had confirmed from the spare owner. <was a very disappointing service, they completely ruined my ride, going to monarch this Saturday. Let's see what they do.>.
              - I had the same doubt and checked with servicing head at YFS, he told me that some non genuine parts are doing the round and original sprocket still cost 2K+, i don't remember the exact cost.

and logically sprocket have always been bit expensive from v1 days, how can they reduce them as much as 1K considering yamaha is not known to act like nokia.

I have before met people who had fake part experience from that SVC adjacent to YFS, as per my earlier comms with yamaha have been always redirected to YFS. I'll believe them and get parts done from them only. Rest a beer is all it takes to chill things down. cheers !.

              • WOW !!..... I see a fight here !! Good!! Riders do fight!!

I don't see Eshan or Somen wrong here at all. Both are right in their own self.

If I have to buy a Sprocket then I will buy it with great thought, would like to pay that less amount but to original one. Is it real OEM ??

Recently asked SVC what are the cost of rear pads and it was Rs 850 and same in my local area 450 for rear pads....so there are chances of original Vs real ones.

Or that Showroom comes under octroi less zone.

@Kuntal: I would be glad if you report the performance of your new pads from that showroom.

So that in future we can too vouch for it.

But as someone said don't blindly accept anything. And I get my car's accessories and spare parts on call only all over the city.

So practical visit and phone call inquiry won't give a major difference.

And I didn't knew that we have racist culture here of differentiating ??

                So bro Chill !!

@ Eshan and Somen stop making threads lengthy !!

Can any one answer my few queries please:

                1. I am at 600kms and I hear a kat kat sound from engine.
                2. I hear no sound from radiator at all, wondering whether it works or not.
                3. I am following layman's running procedure, whether am I correct, or need to improve.
                4. Any body can guide me with benefits of nitrogen Vs Air in tyres ??

I was on my saddle to that Showroom to stock some of the parts!!

Thanks for clearing. Even I think there might be some fake VS Real OEM matter around. Last time i had heard some SVC use fake oils instead of Yamaha recommended ones.

That's what we all riders as a brother should preach to be united and speak and solve rather than fighting and supporting blind talks!!

Precisely my point... But to tell you, my posts does not carry words like "Laal and absent minded", I dont wish to show you other posts. Also, i dont wish to go to his level and disgrace myself with such abuses and perceptions, I'm no one to judge him neither wish to state him absent minded, foolish and a retard. That's all.

About the fake parts, yes I'm aware about that racket being busted here in Pune. I have the number of Nesan, who is Marketing Head for Rolon (East Division). Me and Vishwas Sir had met him back in Aug-Sept, took his number and he agreed to provide chain sprocket kit for 10-15% discount than the MRP. That is the source, and I hope you know ROLON is the OEM for chain sprocket kit in R15V2, price quote back then was around Rs1150.

If you read the tone of the posts may be you will know what I wish to say.

                        • Guys in previous posts as I mentioned my bike was dropped by the service guys. It ended up with minor scratches and a bent brake lever. Service guys have got the bike serviced, good job at that as I test rode the bike. What shocked me that my handle is crooked now, what I mean its not in line with the tyre. I could have lived with a few scratches but driving the bike with a crooked handle would be a real bummer. Service guys have mentioned they will get all the issues fixed by tomorrow, this all has been such a drag for a negligent mechanic. Guys please reply any ideas about a crooked bike handle fixes and how to check if I get 100% positioning like before.

Post Edit : I am not sure if by crooked handle you mean.
                            a. You feel the bike is not going in the direction you intend to or handling feels weird.
                            b. When the bike is stationary, at stand still, the handle bar is not in line with the tyre.

                            If a, refer below.
If b, kuntalnag had some exp.

Coneset problem, hmm, well as per my knowledge
                            - Put the bike on main stand, don;t ask me how to achieve this feat on r15, with the front up. Shake the front by holding forks. The forks should be stable and should not feel loose.
                            - Put the bike on main stand, don;t ask me how to achieve this feat on r15, with the front up. Take the handle to one extreme end and let it flow towards other, if it stops in between. Housten, we have a problem. Try it for both ways.
                            - Not recommended, try with hands off, the bike should go in a straight line. If it deflects, again, the problem is there.
                            - If on offroads or bumps or speed breakers. you feel as if the handle is loose. Again, there is something wrong.

This is very common job and you should not be afraid. I have to get this done almost after every evil off-road trip. Just that this is not a automated process and a manual one so achieving 100 percent satisfaction depends on you and the exp of the mechanic.
Just check the handling from your end before taking charge, Eshan is close to SVC i suppose, probably he can testify for you.

I might be wrong in this context, people are free to correct.

That is good info, will check up further on this. There have always been high margin cases with Yamaha.

The service manager tried it with hands off and said that bike is straight lined and work is needed on one side of the 2 piece handle bar. The issue is b. when the bike is stationary at stand still the handle bar is not in line with the tyre. But it is the same even when driving the bike is going straight but the handle bar when looked down is in a abut turn position. I was dying to get the 1st service done and take my bike to g2g as I don't have many friends and also the couple I know have nothing to do with bikes.

I hope I don't have to live with this.
