If you are a tourer and need more power and have a budget of CBR 250 than go for it.Originally posted by ponbaarathi View PostEven i am in same dilemma (r15s vs cbr 250). My requirement is, this should carry me and pillion in 90-100kmph all day without losing out breath!

Cruising at 120 is a piece of cake for cbr250. But the design is soooo 70s.. It breaks my heart looking at such boring design n console on a gem of an engineOriginally posted by ponbaarathi View PostEven i am in same dilemma (r15s vs cbr 250). Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I would suggest against the R3 at this time. I'd say wait a couple more years before you invest in the machine. It's not for inexperienced guys like us - Yamaha needs a lot of ironing out for the bike to be as reliable as the CBR or the N300. It's a brilliant engine - to that I concede. But the rest of the bike seems to be sub-par quality wise.Originally posted by themachinehead View PostThanks for the reply man. If i only had the budget i would shoot straight for the R3! Alas!
I would like to wait for the V3 of R15.
If by miracle they update the engine to 200 there is no looking back. But chances are next no nothing.
I didn't quite understand the quote "CBR250 put me to sleep" . Do they become boring after a while or that they haven't been updated since Mughal e Azam came out!
And any ideas about launch of V3?
The CBR will get boring. The design as you so aptly stress - is soooo 70s. It's quite old and honda doesn't seem to want to upgrade it anytime soon. But it gets very predictable - you can master the CBR easily and that's exactly what it's built for, isn't it? A bike that you can know and tame. One that is faithful and forgiving. The CBR looses it's edge fast for a quarter litre. Again, please know all this is hearsay and largely my opinion after what meagre opportunity I've had to ride it. I have never owned the bike myself.
CBR is the one for you. The R15 will loose breath towing two people.Originally posted by ponbaarathi View PostEven i am in same dilemma (r15s vs cbr 250). My requirement is, this should carry me and pillion in 90-100kmph all day without losing out breath!
Nope. 80ish, 90ish(if you wanna push it till 90) seems practical. 100ish with 2 people (assuming avg weight and height) sounds like it could be hard. My RTR180 definitely felt like a completely different bike when I had a pillion. And the RTR made the max torque available a full 1000rpm earlier than the R15 does. No I don't the R15 will fare any better in this aspect.Originally posted by ponbaarathi View PostIsn't R15 capable of doing 100ish with pillion without stressing?Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
You are right about the R3. It does need some finishing touches. Like the bike swaying to left side as reported by many Pune riders. Likewise cracking of MRF tyres and how its a major sore for the bike, fading paint and such niggles. But the engine is pristine. Period.Originally posted by madhav766 View PostI would suggest against the R3 at this time. I'd say wait a couple more years before you invest in the machine. If i don't hear about the V3 of R15 soon I'm putting my bet on CBR250.

Somebody please help me!Originally posted by Santhu Shyam View Post
And friends, today I had a terrific incident!
Actually the right side switch assy has been broken two days ago, and I went to SVC to replace it. Those people charged me ₹360 for the right side switch assy and replaced it. After then I shoved in the key, waited for the speedo to do all it's melodrama, and turned on the engine kill switch, and when I cranked the engine, just for a second the engine trouble warning and coolant warning light lighted up (in a very dim manner) less than a second! ( When the bike makes that cranking sound which lasts less than a second) Had no idea what it was, and immediately turned off my bike and asked the SVC guys what it was. They saw this and they too had no idea! One guy came in and took my bike for 500mts. Then he came in and said now the light isn't coming and you can go! But when I again turned on the engine it again came! ( Remember, both the warning lights illuminated too dim ) Then again asked him what it was and he opened the seat and kept on checking the voltage of my battery. It was normal and after few minutes the problem went off! Then he said take your bike now and bring it again the next morning only if the problem persists!
I was about to cry in that moment in front of everyone coz I was thinking that something has happened to my baby! And after then I rode my bike for a good 35 kms and the problem didn't come up again! Feeling little relaxed now but still don't have any idea why that happened!
Could anybody throw some light on this please? [emoji120]🏻

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Have you got them installed?, i too have the same problem and i get tight spots in the center and i fear on corners. i replaced both top and bottom bearings myself and run about 7k kms. and now the bottom bearing gone again, yes the costly oneOriginally posted by dinesh17 View PostHi Guys,
I has to disassembled the fork section, to measure the bearings. The exact measurements of R15 v2.0 racer cone is 25x48x12mm (Top bearing) and 30x48x15mm (Bottom bearing). Went it search for replacement bearings locally, to my disappointment I was not able to get them. All leading manufacturers like SKF, Koyo, FAG nobody manufactures Taper Roller bearings to my required spec. I had no option but to find them some how, because stock bearings were costly at Rs. 2,500 which I can't rely on. Finally found the required bearings on Amazon.co.uk delivering to India. Bough them from Pyramid Parts (Amazon.co.uk) on 24th July and got it delivered on 6th August. Although I wasn't still able to find exact matching for the top bearing online. The one I purchased is 1mm taller than the actual fitment i.e., 25x48x13mm. I hope it won't be a problem.
.. i was searching for a remedy for this and found your post here. share your experience on the new set of bearings. i too searched a lot in the market and that dimension is not available
. now i have to import. any suggestions?
i have a video created by myself replacing them at home

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hi folks!
Hope you are doing well
Guys I'm facing an issue in my bike. Three weeks ago, I got my bike's engine tappets tightened. Since then I'm experiencing low acceleration in my bike. The SVC guy told me that after a few kms ride, my bikes acceleration would return back to normal. But till now there is no change in acceleration.
What could be the reason? Does tappet adjustment affect engine? What should I do, get the tappets loosened??
Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

Seems like an incorrect adjustment!Originally posted by prashr View PostHi folks!

Check this, if the bike doesnt reach around 105kmph at 7000rpm. Then its a problem .Originally posted by prashr View PostHi folks!
