that depends on you. on high way you will feel that the bike needs more power, which is pretty common, when you ride a CBR250r on highway maybe you will feel this has better power. but after a while you would want more power of a 600cc bike so you see its a usual thing. i feel it now only when i am on straight highway on r15 while riding around 120+ and when i feel like pushing the bike more. but in city however i never felt it.

    • Depends upon what the owner thinks and feels about his bike. If you keep on comparing with other bikes then you will always endup comparing a bike with the next big performer in the price bracket. So R15 is a pretty powerful "150cc" bike.

      • Thanks Ron for clearing my doubt. I keep saying to my mind that the ECU is tweaked in a such a way that there is a sudden delivery of power in between 3.5k to 4k. So its the only point where I feel vibes at my left footpeg. Rest it runs butter smooth.

So yamalube it is for 1st servicing.

Yes, but it shouldn't take an year.
As soon as you master the bike, you will start to crave for more (upgrades).
for example, you ride @ 110 -130kph for some time, say 10 mins, then you come down to 80 or 70 and you will feel like you are doing 20 -30 but you are still much faster than the traffic.

in case of power, its the same, the more you're @ 16bhp, the early you will need more.

I was really craving for power for my r15 and telling everyone that it lack power.
and whenever someone takes a test ride and tell me that the bike got power. I thought they were simply praising.
and few weeks back i had to ride my friends Glamour. .. then i realized that r15 got power.

he he, true. and one more thing is that you will feel the lack in power only in highway. if you ride around 80-90 kmph on highway, but you will feel like you are doing 50kmph. but in city if you do 50kmph you will feel you are doing more speed then usual.

Chirag, it completely fine if you happen to have a experienced/ experiencing vibes at a particular range. All the machines in the world are made of metal. Interestingly, metals have a natural vibrating frequency. My Pulsar 150 vibrates at around 53-60 KMPH. That's the natural vibrating band of Pulsar. It might be less or more, but every bike vibrates. So chill mate, its ok. However, if the vibrations are a bit annoying and more then we can have a problem but that's rare with engineering perfection R15.

Bro, I have touched 131Kmph once after that i could not manage abv 124.. Is it that i should have used red line revs in all the gears? and will crouching help me get more than 131? Whats the maximum achievable in stock setup? I know its not a good thing to be obsessed with topspeeds but these highway rides makes me passionate to get the max of my ride .

top speed testing is best when done on empty highway with good roads and minimal traffic. there are few things to keep in mind while doing it.
                          1. make sure you are properly geared. (FYI i am not talking about bike gears here )
                          2. wind factor. top speed also depends the amount of cross winds, tail wind, wind opposite to you, and minimal winds. it getsw difficult to reach 130kmph sometimes with heavy cross winds.
                          3. Straight road may help you reach around 140. slight decent wil help you reach 145 and slight accent may redude the speed to 135. this is based on the avg speed i do usually on those roads. i have reached 152kmph on odo max with little decent.
                          4. weight of the rider. i am 50kg
                          5. most important, how will you accelerate and when you shift gears. i would advise you to do this only after 2k kms.
i usually shift to 2nd gear at 8k rpm, to 3rd at 10k, to 4th at 10k and to 5th at 10k again. do not reach the redline and hit the revv limiter.

one more thing to add would be to make sure you warm up the engine before the ride. especially in the mornings and after long gap. trust me it helps a lot.

nice to hear you have short listed the R15. i see your dad is buying it for you, then make sure you even insist on good helmet (closed one and not half face) atleast a jacket and glove.
while selecting the bike do consider the maintaining of the bike as a important thing. you will sped atleast 500rs per service in free ones, and after that may be 700+. incase off accident too you will spend more on the r15 then other bikes. secondly consider your use, if you have regular pillions then you may want to consider some other bike, this is a known fact so nothing much to say. most of all "are you comfortable riding it" ? . if yes then go for it. if you are in college then i would suggest FZ or FZs
