  • 4th Service + Some Questions

    Hi guys,

    * I'm going in for the 4th Service for my Baby R LE this saturday. Please give me a list of the basic things to be performed as part of the service.

    * Paint has chipped off in one small portion of the Tail. Can i use spray paint to cover it up?

    • Guys... A small doubt.. Got my byk from first service today.. Is there anyway i can verify whether my engine oil is changed or not?? As there is no window to check the color of the oil,i find it difficult... And they didnt water wash my babe due to some motor problem,so askd me to come tom.. But they cleaned and lubed my chain, will tat go away after wash??? Stupid ppl

Overall gud service but they made a scratch in my clutch lever.. BTW can i get the aluminum clutch and brake levers (Lyk the one in CBR) I really like the feel of it

I doubt if they would have cheated you with the engine oil. Anyway, if you had a doubt you should have got it change in your presence, especially since this is your first service.

Yes, the chain lubing has gone to waste if they washed it afterwards. See, they got a lot of bikes to manage and they don't really give a shit about your 'babe', that's just how it is. Its your responsibility to make sure its all done properly no point blaming them.

You i get the custom levers (billet metal) they are good but expensive (around 2k).

Isn't it's a street drag racing video instead of projectors ??

Who said ?? It's a myth! Just don't ride it hard, so that engine gets heated abnormally.

No, you do not turn your bike off when the fan kicks in. Its ok for the radiator fan to kicks-in.
Ofcourse, this is assuming you are giving the motor a break say every 1/2 - 1 hour of riding and that you aren't abusing the motor by riding it at too high rpms.
If you must stop the bike while the radiator fan is running, then use the engine kill switch to turn-off the engine (this keeps the electricals running), then wait for the radiator fan to turn-off by itself.
Also, try to avoid traffic jams when running-in.

Its hard to see it running as its well covered, but you can hear the high pitched sound when the bike is stopped and u can feel the vibration of the fan by placing your hand on the fuel tank.

And by "Kick in" he means the radiator fan turns on (pitches in) to facilitate controlling of engine temparature.

And my MOTOR he means the ENGINE and not the FAN MOTOR.

Too basic but thought it needed to be mentioned .

                    Thanks..
So can i conclude that Radiator fan "kicks in" means it starts ?? like from non rotating state to rotating state?
Means while driving you get a noise which you get when u stop the engine switch?? Is that called radiator "kicks-in"
My bike is 650 Km old..If that is the case my baby's radiator never kicked in.

One more question arise. During run in should i drive like 1 hour continuous and give a break of 5-10 min and continue the drive?
Since i had my first service at 350 Km...and my till my next service i might run 2K+ kms.... what all things should i change from local mechanics?
                    1) Engine Oil (If yes {Which one?} No{Then when?})
                    2)Oil Filter (Yes or no)
                    3)CHain Lube ?
                    4) brakes and others things oils
                    5)Any other thing?
6)I have no taflon coating on my bike any wax or shampoo for bike wash?

You can ride for an hour or so during running in provided you take a break after every hourly run for 10-15 min.
                        This will :-
                        1. Help cool down the motor/engine. (Here'e where the fan part comes - let it switch off by itself)
                        2. Your body will get a much needed rest. This is realized when doing 300+ kms trip.

                        Now, to your queries.

                        1. Engine oil - Stick to the stock engine oil till 8-10k kms. Then you may switch to FS oils safely. Why wait till 10k? So that the engine components bed-in properly and you remain tension free from the engine perspectives for the next 7-8 years. (provided you maintain other components as well)

                        2. Oil filter should be changed once < 500 kms (usually 1st service). If you still have the old oil filter, it may have residues from the running in engine.

                        3. Chain lube - to be done once in 600-700 kms in dry weather and 300-400 kms during monsoon.

                        4. Brake oil - Keep an eye on the reservoir near the front brake lever. Replace/top up as necessary. Bleed brakes everytime you change the pads.

                        5. Usual service - engine oil, chain lube, sprocket cleaning, electricals check, tire check, rim check etc.

                        6. Teflon coating @ SVC - daylight robbery! Use Waxpol and help yourself.

One the first day itself while getting bike from SVC
while driving home... Smell was coming of the bike as if something is burning..
                          Wht is that??
was that normal or my friend who took bike at 6K RPM was the reason ?
WE drived the bike for atleast 45 min...
                          Will that efffect the engine..

                              • Did the 7th paid, exhaustive svc yesterday. Changed the fork oil and got the wheel bearings greased. Will be changing the oil+filter on next svc as it was just 1800km since the last svc where they were changed. Air filter will be changed on the next svc too as there are just 10,500 km on the odo currently
