For everything else, I would suggest you to stick to the manual. A common contention from the SVC is that dont change parts unless something goes wrong. But why wait for something to go wrong? A lot of thought process must already have gone into the manual recommendations. It ultimately boils down to to what extent you want your bike to be well maintained. Correcting problems is one way to go about it. Preventing them in the first place is another
Tj u still here is it :P hmmm

i am thinking of trying the knn air filter, belongs to my friend who has v2. but i sometimes refrain from changing anything that alters the performance of the bike. just dont wanna screw up things. i like the stock as it is anyways. but will try the filter though.

Ron Bro, Hope you remember me The costs of the parts that are going to be replaced are estimated to be around 10k for me(just a wild guess by the SVC) though the exact list and cost would be given to me by wednesday by the service center. Will the cost of the parts vary from location to location? Some other brother here told me it would cost may be around 6k and the time span of the parts is 10days they said. Is it normal or the arrival of new color schemes would be of an issue??

yes ofcourse i remember. get better soon! i dont think the costs of the parts vary from city to city/states. i do not know what all damages you suffered. just have a proper look at them before going for it. the new colour schemes wont give any problems to the sales of parts of previous colours AFAIK just that you have to ask for it if certain SVC have less spare parts.

        • Had visited a shop today dealing in KnN filters. The guy there showed a cone filter which was supposedly able to fit on ''all'' two wheelers. Costs Rs2400. Does anybody know about this?

          • Hi ppl, Done 500 On ODO.....Till now No problems and a Near Perfect Run-In so far ( Some of My friend's Rode her a Bit hard at 250KM on ODO for a small distance ) Hope it doesn't cause any problems...Can somebody Guide me How to proceed to 1000 km? Manual says i can go till 7.5 k RPM..Any other tips????

Also i feel slight vibrations above 5k RPM in the tanks (Only in low gears) .....Is it normal?? Will it be rectified at first Service??

            -Thanks

            • Siddharth, keep it below 7.5k rpm till 1000kms, short bursts till 8.5k are ok, dont redline the bike.

The vibrations will be washed away till you reach 1000kms, it was same for me. Now even at 130kmph, the bike has no vibrations "at all". Its one hell of a controlled bike. The control is spot on.

                Exactly the point.
Although I still feel very little vibration in low rpms, but never felt vibration above 7.5K rpms. Actually that's where the true nature of R15 comes out.
The bike is more fun the more you rev.

That one is a universal air filter. It requires modification to the air box a well which is irreversible. Since it changes the air flow to the engine, it may or may not have adverse effects on performance. Yes, not everyone has been happy after installing it. I would recommend you to find a KnN filter which is in the same shape as the original so that it is a direct replacement. That will not effect the airflow and will only effect the air. I guess I once saw it on planetdsg not sure though.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

                      • Rather, get a simota air filter from joel. It is similar to the stock one with better airflow.

                          • Either go for a stock replacement(I personally feel its not worth the moolah!) or get an after market ECU before going for em free flow ones. Else you will screw up bad.

True. Just changing the Air Filter will screw up bike later which we wont get to know suddenly. few other things also need to be done slog with it. its always better to have a proper check of do's and dont's.
