Guys hope you remember me. I am Back on two feet castings removed
. Still cannot walk properly with fluency but the worrying factor is : The bone on my leg which got fractured is the one which would be essential for gear shifts in our bike
so no riding atleast for 20days.
Gave her for 2nd service through my dad. He said that every time i ride your bike the riding position is as if taming a bull on a rage
. He gave the bike at the service center and called me up. Said the parts would take a minimum of 10days to arrive and the estimations would be clarified later as of now it would be around 10k
. I almost fainted now again after hearing this. Will it be so?
&Yamaha dint reply for the mail about my query of estimation and arrival time. Perhaps i have asked a noob question to them
. What could be wrong?

I am going to do the 6th (paid) service tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Its just 10300 km on my odo though, and 62 days from the previous service. Doing early because dont know whether will get any time up ahead. What all parts should go and come? Spark plugs, fork oil?Could you give an estimation of the expenses considering its a paid service? Any suggestions are welcome
. I can say that the personnel there will say that parts like spark plug and consumables like fork oil are ''achcheich hain'' and wont need changing. Should I heed them? Will do a thorough cleaning of the front disc as it is squealing on normal application but not when the force is increased. Also, the disc shows many concentric circles. Pads were changed on the last service.

Along with the all greasing stuff please change the AIR filter. It costs ~237 bucks.Originally posted by Sushrut View PostI am going to do the 6th (paid) service tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Check the service maunal for the things to be done at 5th servicing(~12 K Kms), you'll get all the details like greasing of wheel/steering bearings, fork oil chnage, spark plug change, air filter change and all.
Now the labour charge for all the above mentioned things (greasing, fork oil change) doesn't come under free servicing as well, so you don't have to pay extra than a free servicing.
Other than that your labour charge may be ~350 bucks extra than a free one.
You can browse through the forum for details of charges, Teejayy and I have posted it earlier.
P.S. The labour charge in my case was pretty high but got Rs/-450 as a refund after complaining to Yamaha.Last edited by kuntalnag; 01-24-2013, 09:24 PM.sigpic

Thanks there for the reply. If the personnel there say the parts do not need to be changed, should I then continue with the old ones? Or should I strictly follow the manual, given that the intervals given in it are a sum of all averages. For instance, when I changed my disc pads at 9000 km[recommended] , I realized that the rear pads could have lasted me more 3000km and the front ones for 1000km..Originally posted by kuntalnag View PostAlong with the all greasing stuff please change the AIR filter. Many of the owners don't go for these changes as per the manual and they are not complaining at all.
I would recommend at least change the Air Filter for sure.
Spark plug, greasing, fork oil change.....completely your call. Abiding by the manual will be better anytime, that's all I can say

Disc pads is a different case altogether, varies from rider to rider drastically based on the riding style. Thats the reason you cannot really generalise change interval for disc pads.Originally posted by Sushrut View PostThanks there for the reply. If the personnel there say the parts do not need to be changed, should I then continue with the old ones? For everything else, I would suggest you to stick to the manual. A common contention from the SVC is that dont change parts unless something goes wrong. But why wait for something to go wrong? A lot of thought process must already have gone into the manual recommendations. It ultimately boils down to to what extent you want your bike to be well maintained. Correcting problems is one way to go about it. Preventing them in the first place is another

Yes, manual is THE bible. I am thinking of a performance air filter, has anybody tried it on the V2?Originally posted by kuntalnag View Postok, now that's your call buddy.

Sure, prevention is always better than cure. The engineers definitely know infinitely more than the workshop people. Sure, I wil follow the manual.Originally posted by TeeJayy View PostDisc pads is a different case altogether, varies from rider to rider drastically based on the riding style. Hello guys, I am new to riding r15 is my first bike....just 1 month old. while learning i tend to shift gears frequently..
I follow this.
1-10 Kmph- gear 1
11-20 Kmph - G2
21-30 km/h - G3
31-40 ---- G4
i do not consider RPMS...as it is maintain 3000-4000 RPMS below 40 KMPH ...
i have reached 70kmph
So 2 questions..
1) Was that a good decision of reaching 70kmph?
2) Need help regarding shifting gears on city road.. Consider i m in run in period...Thanks
