Love the way bike handles itself in high gears and low rpm. Still getting use to the fairing while turning. So hard to control on this bike for proper running period

Finally got the bike, Didnt do much riding today. Have two problems so far. 1) Not at all comfortable for pillion rider. I knew it before hand, But still. 2)It is one hell of a attention seeker. Little annoyed by it now.

enjoy the ride. do not concentrate on every tiny things, telling that because loads of new R15 riders do that and forget to have a good ride. make sure u maintain it below 5k rpm. if anyday any second it happens that you get to 6k rpm for a second too then do not get tensed. its a very good machine and wont let you down for that
telling this by experience.
by the way guys, did off-roading too today for almost 2 to 3 kms. and the roads were worse, infact no roads at all
could not match up to the KTM but was very close to it
bring me those who say 'R15 cant do off-roading' :P

Hey guys, here is a new query.
In order to check if the bike is working or not, the mechanic closed the coolant something and puuled the throttle in a controlled manner in neutral for 2-3 mins yesterday. Smoke came from the engine and fan started spinning. Today i drove for 2-3 kms and it smelled like yesterday, however no smoke. Also it felt a little warn around my leg. Could it be that the coolant is properly not opened or something, or is it just me? Also the rpm is right now set at 1.4-1.5. Is it high ? what is suggested ?
@Ron thnx brother. N yes m keeping it below 3.5k. Sometimes @4k

Actually it's not just you, it's everyone who has bought the bike recently would be having these kinda doubtsOriginally posted by himanshunegi1987 View PostHey guys, here is a new query.

Between, this is very normal to have that warm feeling as the bike is very new. Give it a 2/3 servicings, that thing would be reduced.
Incase the Coolant is not properly flowing or engine is heating up more that the normal level, there is an indicator in your console(the right most, red coloured) which should be ON. Untill and unless this is in OFF stage, no worries buddy.
The iRPM is also perfect.
I would suggest please go through the bike's manual book thoroughly and have a look at the intial posts of this thread as early owners have already discussed these issues. You would know many more things that might come in your way ahead.Last edited by kuntalnag; 09-17-2012, 01:07 PM.sigpic

Had been for a small ride to Smilestone Cafe and Windmill farm. Hadnt taken my DSLR, so cudnt click much pics.
The bike is a bliss around 100kmph, no stress at all, very easy overtaking in 6th gear too, doesnt require a downshift at all. I was mainly leading a group of R15's so could feel the group riding together, dint stress it much because we had some new riders as well.
Had also gone alone for a short spin in eve, so attaching one pic of that small ride too.

Below 3.5 k RPM? You ride this slow? Actually, riding at very less revs can also be a problem to the engine..
Off roading on R15 brother?I think its not recommended! The manual clearly states that!Originally posted by Ron Syl View Postby the way guys, did off-roading too today for almost 2 to 3 kms. and the roads were worse, infact no roads at all

YRC Ride 13, Lucky 13.
Guess it was a weekend of Yamaha bikes riding along. We went through a ride too this weekend with Yamaha Riders Club (India) and Bangalore RD350 Club riding together. It was a pleasure to ride with 15 R15s, 14 RDs and 2 FZs. There were other bikes like the Kawasaki Vulcan, Dukes, Yezdis and Bullet although we made an quick exclusive Yamaha riders getaway in a Farmhouse close to the ride destination. The R15s never ceased to surprise, The FZs rode along well and the RDs were music to the ears.
The roads were off all kinds and the R15 behaved. Off roads definitely did not involve rocks and boulders but we took detours to avoid the tarmac. Yet again the R15 behaved. Speed runs of 150km/hr was also relived. As always, the bike never failed to surprise.

@Abhishek - The pics are mind blowing asusual... loved the YRC in India. Man love those Yammies, and RD's freaking kickass, nice to see owners have maintained their steeds.
Can I ask you one favor, if its not too much of a hassle can you just post couple of pics of two bikes... the R15's of course, the one with White Wheels and the other with Golden Wheels. Iam trying to get this paint scheme done but due to no knowledge on Photoshop neither have come across such designs I'm clueless... Please post couple of pics whenever you get time...
Thanks.sigpic

@Shushrut : I drive slow because according to my understanding that is what is advised during the run-in period. It is said to drive under 3.5k Corrected me if i am wrong please.
@Kuntalnag : Is it also normal to smell as if something is burining ? Haven`t noticed the indicator. Tonight i guess

I would say, check the indicator first and if then also you are little confused, go ahead and get it checked in SVC.Originally posted by himanshunegi1987 View Post@Shushrut : I drive slow because according to my understanding that is what is advised during the run-in period. The manual states that one is required to keep the bike under 5000 RPM for the first 500 Kilometers and 7500 RPM till it reaches 1000 and then you can push it to 9000-10000 RPM occasionally after the engine has been warmed up.Originally posted by himanshunegi1987 View Post@Shushrut : I drive slow because according to my understanding that is what is advised during the run-in period. We had ours eyes on them (2 R15s) too. Let me arrange for it in the next meet. The golden rims on the blue R15 looks brilliant. You have to see it in person to believe it. Anyway, will get you the details.
