But again many including me have taken the R15 to the lengths and breadths of this country and To make it sweet , the R15's now come with an O2 sensor and mileage is well around 50kmpl , and Yamaha service is anyday better than Hondas . Moreover , TVS tyres of Honda can give you nightmares and even though CBR's handling is superb, the R15 is a couple of miles ahead in this and the el cheapo switch panels gives you a wierd feeling on the CBR.

Re: Crazy about yamaha r15 version 2..
I think thats because the CBR is a DOHC setup and its engine is sourced from Indonesia or Thailand(I forgot where exactly) . So a little premium is there over R15. And I personally feel CBR is more smooth and good for long tours .Originally posted by vijay.krishna.mys View Post

Re: Crazy about yamaha r15 version 2..
The choice is simple between the two - go for the Gixxer. Forget about mileage, you wouldn't want to commute 60km 'daily' on an R15 - certainly not if you are a laid back rider.Originally posted by vijay.krishna.mys View PostDear friends,
Am very new to this xbhp... basically i am a laid back biker.. never bothered to know all the technicalities as i rode my pulsar 150 (2006 model) for 9 long years. Now am planning to buy new bike.. and i have shortlisted 2 bikes. they are
1. Suzuki gixxer sf
2. Yamaha r15 version 2.
Actually i commute 60km daily. I am 6.2.

Re: Crazy about yamaha r15 version 2..
I didnt find any of the above difficult in the current setup. But again its your bike, it's your wish. Rather than going for unknown brands, Daytona is offering a brake upgrade which includes the master cylinder unit, steel braided lines, a bigger petal disc and yes it comes as a whole and cannot get the MCU alone. But , the pricing of the same might make you run away from it. It was 25k 1.5 years ago.Originally posted by PallavZ View PostIt's better to track the fluid level..easier to check the condition..makes it much easier while bleeding..plus it looks cool..!benifits all the way around.!Ride, ride and ride.. Re: Crazy about yamaha r15 version 2..
I have seen the Gixxer SF up front, it is a small bike. You are 6 feet 2, which is too tall for either of the bikes. On the R15 you wont be leaned into the bike that much. So probably the more comfortable of the two. Still, before you get either, get a test ride to see what suits you. Although if you are a "laid back" rider, go for a tourer or street fighter. Something like an FZ or KTM Duke 200 would do fine as they are both upright bikes.Originally posted by incipient View PostThe choice is simple between the two - go for the Gixxer. Re: Crazy about yamaha r15 version 2..
I agree with incipient here, i mean r15 does require commited riding stance which certainly takes some toll. i have commuted for 110 kms daily on v1 and now continuing to do so on the V2, dont take me wrong i love it and enjoy it thoroghly, but still if i am stuck in traffic the pain does creep in. needless to mention the hard suspension can make life a sweet song on twisties and smooth roads. but on bad patches, potholed/ uneven road it makes me curse government and question the very existence for PWD.Originally posted by Gurudatt View PostWhat makes you say that brother??

Its a love and hate feeling. (love for bike and hate for gov and PWD) but love always overcomes hate
Now, does that mean i will openly recommend V2 to anyone, well, yes but a few words of caution/disclaimer that would mention :
This bike is best enjoyed on corners, while annihilating chicken strip, screeching at the apex, fishtailing and living life from one corner to the next. Everything that happens in between is a compromise(read cummuting/ touring etc), and the market is full of bikes that can do the in between part much better. But if it is the corners that you crave, waking up 4 o'clock in the morning to find those empty winding roads or plan to hit the race track sometime soon and its in these moments where you find life to be alive while defining and redefining the edge, than brother dont look any further, because in this price bracket there isnt a better precision tool to carve some of the most titillating and alluring memories.

Re: Crazy about yamaha r15 version 2..
It depends on where you live.. I ride mostly on smooth roads.. But yes pain does creep in traffic especially with a pillion.. But that is a small price to pay considering what the bike has to offer..Originally posted by mehuel View PostI agree with incipient here, i mean r15 does require commited riding stance which certainly takes some toll. i have commuted for 110 kms daily on v1 and now continuing to do so on the V2, dont take me wrong i love it and enjoy it thoroghly, but still if i am stuck in traffic the pain does creep in. needless to mention the hard suspension can make life a sweet song on twisties and smooth roads. but on bad patches, potholed/ uneven road it makes me curse government and question the very existence for PWD.
