hey do I need to upgrade the battery first or can the stock battery handle both of the 55 watts?

Guys, my average daily running is really low, and so the 6 free services that are to be done in the first year all got over in less than 6k on the odo.

Now, as per manual, one is supposed to change the engine oil every 3k Kms.

However, that period would mean over 6 months to be honest. My last service was "5 months" ago, and had changed the oil then.

**How long in terms of months can engine oil be good for use. Have I stretched it too long this time? Any precautions I should take for future?

Also, if anybody with similar less frequent use follows a specific service schedule, that'd be very helpful.

      Thank you

I may add that I have been doing chain lubing myself around every 40 days, along with clutch free play adjustment.

What worries me most is the air filter cleaning that hasn't been done in over 5 months. Does air filter need to be cleaned more often at around every 70 days or so?

        Thank You.

I have similar usage pattern like urs, my service interval is about 6 months/ 1200 kms. I regularly lube chain myself and clean it with diesel once in 4 months. Its been more than 2 years of ownership and I haven't changed the coolant even and level hasn't dropped either. So experts here guide us for the same.

6 months is about right , oil staying relatively unused inside the engine for 6 months breaks it down and you do not get the optimal performance from the oil that is expected.

You have to change the coolant because of the time period(2year)

Stock battery cant withstand 55 + 55W.. I have 55 +35W and i turn high beam on only when the revs are above 5k. Else the horn will sound weak. Put 55W on low beam side ( left hand side when sitting in bike ) and it will light up both in low beam and high beam. I guess 5000k will be pure white, but may have a slight bluish tint. 4300k will be yellow mixed white.

PS: You need battery + coil rewinding to support 55 + 55 W.

will a 5 amp battery be enough??
and what is this coil rewinding??

5amp will do i guess.. But battery will get discharged faster than R15's alternator can charge the battery. So stator coil of alternator needs mod to pump up the output, so that it can charge the battery faster. If you dont want all these, just use 55w on low beam side and use high beam only when revs are above 5k RPM.

Honestly fitting a bigger battery will do nothing for you, at least on the stock charging system, remember your battery's main use is to start the vehicle. I shoe horned in a 9 amp battery after running a 5 amp for 3 years, big waste of time, now I have an upgraded stator (fitted today) tomorrow will fit the ktm rectifier, will be using the bike every night whilst my car gets repainted. So will report after that time, hopefully will be giving a positive review then.... Watch this space...

Can other bike's or vehicles' RR unit ie KTM in your case be used on our bikes?
I have a Yamaha Fz with a 7 amp battery. Was planning to source a ape RR unit as the stator coil of my bike has very limited space to do a proper coil rewinding.

The bajaj Pulsar 220 is an incredible highway touring machine while the r15 is best for the track , because of this the comfort part is on the downside . R15's handling is amazing when it comes to conering and it has an incredible braking system .
but with a person on the back the r15 pick up is just poor , I owned an r15 (v2.0) . well the pulsar 220 has good performance, good mileage but the quality part yamaha always wins .
                              I would recomed r15 over the pulsar 220 .
