Mechanics refuse to pull out the link of a new one and sometimes at sudden acceleration, the possibility of getting the link disconnected is high.
There should be some other way to remove it. I thought of doing it myself, but it looks like svc is the only option..
And moreover, is there a connecting link for the v2 chain??
    Good morning riders
If you have the new chain you can see, it would not be in a closed loop ...no one will give you a linked chain..cos it's not put in that way.

The superbike's chain cost even more, but they change it the same way it's done on pulsar, R15 or an R1.

I'm not giving you an alternative. This is way the it's done.
about the mechanics refusing it, they might not know how it's done. and the link I'm asking you to remove comes with a lock, which doesn't come off unless the chain breaks. (which you know in normal conditions it doesn't)

Just to assure you..I'm not new to this..I've had 4 bikes till now and change it 3 times on my own. Though I learn't it form a certified mechanic. You can check multiple links available on Google to verify this.

check the link below..it's hardly a 15 minute job, or 30 minutes if your doing it for the 1st time.

btw. you're far away from Delhi or else I would have come over to show you how it's done. That'll be easier for you and me both

      Ohk..Thanks for the input.
But 1 doubt. For other bikes, say Pulsar or Hunk or CBR, if we remove the front sprocket and the rear alloy, we are able to remove the chain. But for R15 v2, since the swing-arm is completely different from all other bikes out there under 250cc, I had a doubt that we had to remove the swing-arm to release the chain as I thought there were some gap in the front end of the swing arm to release the chain. Thats why I asked. Thanks for helping me out.

Woah..now you caught me off guard there

The changes I'm talking about I've done is on LML energy, CBZ, Karizma and the old R15(V1).
You can do it by removing the swingarm which is usually uncalled for as disconnecting the link is pretty simple. But I guess you ought to have a look at the new chain which would make it easy for you to understand.
Or rather you can get a hold of the service manual for the R15v2 which would have the information how to change it. I know the R15v1 had that for sure.
and the Swing arm cannot have any sort of gap large enough to remove the chain. even if you do there is the axle that connects the swingarm to the chassis which would surely not have the gap.

I completely checked the chain. As said by a mechanic here, I cant find any connecting link. :O
Called svc and they said, swing-arm must be removed. I cant find any logic behind that.
Can any v2 owners check if there is a connecting link on your chain?
          fully confused.

Neither R15 V1 nor V2 has a connecting link. The entire chain is a closed loop and doesn't have any connecting link/lock. You'll have to remove the swingarm to change the chain.

ok. So that seems to the only way.
              @R-series. Any input from you?
But I still cant understand the logic of removing the swing-arm.

                      • Yamaha R15 v2.0 buying query

                        Hey guys,
Am SE working in Gurgaon. I use to take out my CBZ X a lot. Then office started and no time. My bike is 6 yrs old and now am planning to go R15 way. Hopefully in 20 days. Had a few queries and this was the best way to be done with them . So please help out.

                        1) Wt is the millege ? Some say 47, some say 20. Am totally confused.

                        2) Is there any problem while using this bike as my main commuter in a city like delhi ? I m buying it because its my hobby kind off, but will also be using it to go here n dere, as my main commuter.

3)Are there any problems with the bike ? Like common porblems which a lot of people faced ?

And at he end , can someone please tell me how do i take care of my bike initially? Wt is run in period ? etc. Just some tips for a new R15. I love my CBZ i destroyed it with in 5 months.

                        • Daytona

                          Quick question :

I got a daytona exhaust on my R15 v2 today. The mechanic told me I'll have to change the engine oil every 1500-1800 kms rather than at an interval of 3000 kms because I've a FFE. Is this statement correct?

And of all the people who have had daytona exhausts here, have you noticed any drop in FE?
