Took an off today. Will try and go to service center to get oil/oil filter changed. Can someone tell me how much official yamaha oil for r15 and its filter costs in delhi ? And is this oil mineral ?

as many of the owners/experts said, for any FI engine, its recommended to have atleast 3-4 lts of petrol always.Originally posted by geek-boy View PostI refuel only after hitting reserve!...and reserve capacity being around 2 lts. should I avoid doing this and refuel sooner??
infact 1 of my friends had faced the issue of fuel pump with his V1 and had to replace with a new one for a whopping amount of ~Rs/-10k(obviously he didn't have that extended warranty
)
Although it doesn't happen to everybody, but why to take a chance for 1 ltr of extra petrol
you could have bought 1 RX-100 center stand and fit it whenver needed for cleaning/lubing instead of fitting it permanently(I am inferring from the pictures) as this would increase the weight of the bike thus reducing the efficiency/performance.I second that!...I got a center stand fitted and although my friends tease me about it, I find find it worth the money!...cleaning a bike chain while its in use is the 'DUMBEST' thing a person can possibly do...
Moving on...went on a small ride to Lavasa on Sunday, awesome weather! Corners were just too good..here are some pics for ya'll!
p.s: Didn't face any problem with the center stand while cornering!
Between, pics are nice, seems enjoyed the cornering to the fullest...Last edited by kuntalnag; 09-25-2012, 12:37 PM.sigpic

Wento to the guy SVC, the oil they were offering was Yahamahalube 15W something somwthing. It was semi synthetic. And it costed Rs 505 in delhi. They didnt had oil filter right now so did not change it today. May b this weekend. One question. Are we suppose to stick to mineral initally ? They said this is the only oil they put on R15.Originally posted by himanshunegi1987 View PostTook an off today. Will try and go to service center to get oil/oil filter changed. Faced no issues with the center stand yet and probably won't unless i'm into hard-core cornering!
Guess I'll have to change that habit of mine!Originally posted by kuntalnag View Postas many of the owners/experts said, for any FI engine, its recommended to have atleast 3-4 lts of petrol always.

I used the RX stand for a while but then it just got to troublesome, this alternative worked for me!...and the corners were just beautiful!Originally posted by kuntalnag View Postyou could have bought 1 RX-100 center stand and fit it whenver needed for cleaning/lubing instead of fitting it permanently(I am inferring from the pictures) as this would increase the weight of the bike thus reducing the efficiency/performance.

not necessarily...its 15w50 Yamalube semi-syn...you can go according to the manual and use yamalube or use mineral oil till the third sevice, its just that in the first 1200 kilometers the engine heats up more as its new so people prefer mineral oil until run-in is complete!Originally posted by himanshunegi1987 View PostWento to the guy SVC, the oil they were offering was Yamalube 15W something somwthing. 1)Is there any mobile dock for R15 for my motorola defy as used in cars? I hate to take my phone out of pocket when m on bike.
2)I have done 310 kms on ODO, my service is due on 17-20 of next month, the maximum i think i can cover till then is 550km (total). Would you guys suggest that i still go for oil and oil filter change ? And can someone please tell me a oil to change right now, yahamalube is too costly Rs.505 for just 250 km as i would have to change it again on first service ? Any other ? or should i just stick to yamaha lube ?
3)I read everywhere run-in period is so crucial, so why dont the manufatures do it for consumers and then we can just use our bikes the way we want to from the very start ?Last edited by himanshunegi1987; 09-25-2012, 10:39 PM.

Ans: No idea on this. @Eshan, you can help him out I guess.

Ans: I assume you have already changed the oil once, before the first service. In that case, try using in the Yamalube Mineral till next servicing if its feasible to switch or if the next drain interval is long, then ask the service center if its ok to not to go for oil+oil filter change. If this works out well without voiding your warranty, then it should be good. Cheapest option, Yamalube Mineral but only if it is OK to use it in R15.

Ans: Different people prefer different types of running in mate. Some like it soft, some like to stick to manufacturer's recommendation(ME) and some go all crazy. Moreover they are mass produced and its too costly to put every engine on Dyno.

No it haven`t done the oil change yet. I was planning it on sunday but they didn`t had oil filter so i didnt. Now i am confused because my vehichle will hardly run another 200 kms ( max ) before its first service. Should i go ahead and still do the oil and oil filter change or do it during service only ?Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostReplies in bold.

1) No there isnt avaliable here, but if anyone is coming from US of A then yes you can import from several websites. Also it is not safe to dock up the mobile phone as it may fall due to poor road conditions here. In other countries roads are not filled with sooooo many pot holes that it might fall from the dock.Originally posted by himanshunegi1987 View Post1)Is there any mobile dock for R15 for my motorola defy as used in cars? 2) Dont change the oil and filter now, it will be taken care in the first service itself. Please go by the manual, the engineers at Yamaha know the bike more than us regardless of having years of experience too. Again, no need to change now, let the first service happen it will be changed that time and so is the filter.
3) There are bikes which come like that - R1, R6, FireBlade, 600RR, S1000RR and other SBK's. The ready product is headed to the dyno system where the bike is loaded and operated on mentioned run in speeds for those specific kms and then delivered to the customer, Run In period is not counted on ODO Meter, it comes under final testing of ready product.
Why - You cannot ride an SBK at Run In speeds for those kms prescribed in the manual.
So - The company does it for you, it is not practical either. Try riding an SBK on 60kmph in 6th gear, but on a DYNO it is possible since the belt can be adjusted according to a incline, (these are not regular DYNO machines that you see in a Tuner's garage)
Our- Bikes can easily do prescribed run in speeds in day to day runs. It is possible to keep the RPM below 4500 limit and ride the bike without any problem.
If hope this solves your queries.sigpic

I dont think there's anything more. Just ask them to check the coolant level (or do it yourselfOriginally posted by Eshan-P180 View PostStryker is up for third servicing - 6,000kms. Is there anything that I need to know apart from -

@ESHAN: I suggest you check the Coolant level as suggested by Ivin by yourself, both in reservoir and in radiator.
Also just check the plug colour for how the setting is. ( i know it is stock but still, in case to avoid any problem).Rx is a Phoenix!!! It always rise from ashes!!
