  • There is this book called 'Fast..' and something[cant remember the name] published by Bike India for the R15 and the FZ16.It includes the developmental procedures of the bikes, words from the team behind these bikes and much more.I saw this book in a Yamaha showroom. From where I can procure this book?

    • Have ordered the CF tankpad (the one which comes on the LE White) but the dealership is taking forever to get it and my tank has already started fading!
Any other tankpads you would suggest? Pics of the tankpad on your bikes would be very helpful.

Dont order from DSG because the shipping will actually take years to be delivered. Why not go for those usual tank pads avaliable in Yamaha SVC, the LE Tank Pad has been stopped a long time back, expect no sales got it from a source working at Yamaha SVC.

Avoid DSG at all costs unless you are picking up from a original DSG stockist in your city.

EDIT - This guy seems reasonable, he is an xbhp member too, forgot his ID. Contact him on the number or email mentioned in the link.

Thanks for the info but I don't really like the ones he has in stock.

And the Indore SVC has this one in stock, for which he is quoting 400!

Its been 5 months and 6000kms on ODO.
Been loving it more and more as the days are passing by.Truly a beautiful machine it is.
              I'm glad i baught R15 v2 over CBR250 and Pulsar 200 NS.
I know R15 lacks power when you compare it to CBR ,TOSS but it gives me the feeling of a sbk because of its riding posture.
              Very Happy with my purchase

                • After 1800kms in the last 5 days, my bike is not in a stable condition. Chain and sprocket is nearing its end. rear wheel's bearings look history as well, time for a valve clearance check up, rear brake pad is also finished up. Also time for the next service. But still the engine is a gem !!

I have the same one on my bike, red colored though. If you spread it even and then stick it on the tank pad it should do its job, mine does and yes it does look good.

The following lines are not mine, Its by Drifty @ Xbhp.
Talking about the symptoms, there might not be any, just do it as a regular checkup at 10k intervals or so..
The valves are an integral part of an engine. They open and close, allowing in a mixture of air and petrol into the combustion chamber of the engine. After some period, the valves do not open enough, not allowing in enough air and fuel, or open too much, allowing in too much air and fuel. In either case, the engine will not function properly.Hence it becomes necessary to adjust the valves of your motorcycle to help it run smoothly.

To let the air/fuel mixture in to the engine we have intake valves. To let it out we have exhaust valves. However, if these valves don't open and close at the right time the engine will not run. Worse still, if the valves open at the wrong time they can be hit by the piston and bent.If you cannot get it exact then it is better to have a slightly slack tappet than a tight one.If both valves had no clearance, meaning they were both slightly held open all the time then that might give rise to some very severe starting difficulties, let alone running.Exhaust valves are more prone to damage since they run hotter than the intake valves. The intake valves are cooled by the incoming air and fuel.

I dont know the correct cost, will tell you after my bike is given for the same this coming wednesday.

Its not a problem to cover in a warranty . Its like a regular checkup mate. Thats all, not a mojor problem to concern about. Here in my place ,there is a guy with a R15 v1 who has completed 1L kms recently and never ever checked the valve clearance. Its a gem as I said earlier. We just have to polish it at times..

Drove around 5-6 kms but keeping RPM low. Would take my baby out tonight or may b tommorow morning to open her up a little more and would update.

1.The most simple symptom is Starting problem. It takes a lot of cranking to start it. In worst cases you may hear some abnormal sounds from engine.
                              2. Check the valve clearance by using appropriate feeler gauges and adjust it accordingly. Refer service manual for this. Nice depiction is given there.
                              3. Parts involved are just valve tappets and just the gauges you use..
                              4. No cost in SVC. It should be done free of cost.
                              5. 100% YES!

@Ivin: Yes the bike is a gem, But not the Mechs at SVC's. I have seen bikes which have wrong valve clearances even before first service. Mine had a problem at around 2k kms.

Took my baby for a sweet 40km ride (bothways). Gear shift was butter smooth. Today i was shifting gears at 4K rpm, earlier i use to do it at 3.5 or 5. Dont know if it was because of oil change or what. Touched 100km in 6 gear ar around 6.8k rpm. Bike was so stable, Had a accident because of some stupid guy on scotter who was trying to race. Thank god nothing happened, but he fell and had brusies over his knee and hands. Got wt he desered. The one thing i love the most about this bike - Braking, came from 56-0km/hr on road with small pepples on it without even wobbling 1%.
Hate when other people see you and try to race even when u r not intrested.

1)My left rear view mirror is loose. Very loose. Any suggestions on how can i tighten it , or do i need to take it to SVC ?

2)I do not want to buy center stand , as i m scaered a little that it might give me some other problems or something. But at times i need it , like chain lubracating, any advise on this ? I saw the SVC guys getting a center stand and put it under my bike. Any idea what was that ?

3)Can i use my engine oil to lubricate my bike`s chain without harming it ?
