        Hi,
        the sensor of the speedo/odo meter of my bike is not functioning properly. after starting for the first 2/3 kms it doesn't respond and even after working for some time it goes off in between.
        I took it to Thane svc 2/3 weeks back, they said the problem is in the electrical wiring and it would cost me around 600 bucks.
        i think it's under warranty so no cost should be charged.
        please let me know if any one of you faced the same issue and got rectified.

            2. Suppose there are 4 bars in the petrol gauge, only the 1st, 2nd n 4th would appear.

            The SVC guys told me to wait n see if this persists.

              I found out that the cable from the speedo sensor was the culprit (I bent the cable at various places and found that if I bent the cable at a particular place the speedo console was working correctly.)
              So i cut the cable at the place where it was faulty and joined the 2 cut ends using a different cable (taken from a discarded spike buster).

              Now the speedo is working without any issues.

                actually mine is for almost last 1 month.
                yours seem to be having only display issue but mine is the connection problem, i mean the speedometer readiing stays at 0 kmph for that time being and the ODO meter also doesn't change.
                planning to go to SVC in pune, lets see what they say.
                My top speed - 149. Another fellow YRCian has scored 153. All on the speedo.

                Eshan has posted a few pages back GPS indicated top speed of 147.

                good lord....i could manage to bring it till 137 and the road was ended... but it seemed it could go till 140 then...

                    if they will change the fuel lid free of cost .. so will they give me another key for fuel lid...
                    or will they change the entire lock mechanism for retaining the single key operation for all components... ?

                    This is being a pain whenever I am trying to open the fuel lid...

                      Oil - Shell AX7 10W40 SS
                      Petrol - I try to fill up Shell regular whenever possible, with Shell premium once in a while. Regular unleaded petrol otherwise. My priority (nothing factual here, purely my judgement) - Shell -> BP -> HP -> IndianOil.

                      Did not measure the exact timings n all but I think the bike does 135 on its own, beyond which you need
                      1. to crouch fully,
                      2. to redline, especially from gear 5 to 6 since the 6th gear is overdrive, meant for cruising, wont give you much power,
                      3. no/ negligible cross winds,
                      4. some tail winds,
                      5. slight slope,
                      6. long traffic free road.

                      PS: I take no pride in declaring my top speed. Nothing to boast about. It takes lots of time n miles to know the bike, its capabilities, limitations n more importantly your own capabilities n limitations. Pls DO NOT attempt these speeds on your R15 just because it can go there. You need to anticipate things in a fraction of a second at those speeds. Further, its better to have such speed runs on roads you know/ have ridden before recently.

                          I dont think its a sensor problem since one of my friends had the same problem as yours in his R15 v1 where his meter was fully changed under warranty.

                                I had the same problem on my newly delivered bike.
                                For sometime after start-up the speedo showed random readings (like 100 when the bike was in 1st gear!) and then shut down and kept showing zero for a while and then showed random readings again.

                                Turns out a malfunctioning sensor was the culprit. The SVC guys replaced it free of cost for me.

                                The Yamaha SVC here in Indore uses a Motul Chain Clean + Motul Chain Lube combination.
                                They just spray the Chain clean on the chain and leave it for a while and then wipe it off with a cloth, no brushing and all.

                                I personally find Motul Chain Lube unsuitable for rains as it washes off too soon.
                                One of my friends uses a combination of burnt engine oil + grease on his LE V2.0 but I haven't tried that yet.
