    Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience

I have run around 300km with k&n, but 9350 on the odo, I'm happy to plonk back the stock filter, feels smooth and relaxed like before, when i had k&n installed i used to get starting problems, hiccup while full throttle, engine overheating, low mileage, black smoke in exhaust, and rpm would shutter at 7-8k felling like fuel about to run out. And worst of all i was unable to climb Nandhi hills where mopeds used to over take me.😂

Last thing i would plonk in my bike would be a K&N. These cotton gauge type filters are nice in air flow & free but poor in terms of air filtration thus letting in tiny debris damaging valves and liners. Neither good is the stock paper type and so foam has been the best of the two worlds for me. Stock paper type is restrictive choking the breath of the stock mill.

As per rpms 10k is just enough. How much on the ODO btw?
Do mention the ODO reading it speaks a lot. [emoji16]

Bro i adjusted the carbs and running rich i can see black smoke when i twist the throttle, i can feel the engine jerk at 88 kmph and on and the bike doesn't cross 92kmph. Also impulse has 132 size jet. Not sure if there is a bigger jet available in market.

Retune or re jet your carb, you are most probably running a lean mixture.

You can try Rehan bhai's workshop, its in front of Select City. He is himself a motocrosser and he owns Impulse, and have done many mod jobs out there.

    Here is the address:

    Rehan Racing Plaza
8-C/5, Malviya Nagar, Delhi - 110017, Opp Dlf Mall Saket (Map)

    He is good.

Cant really explain in detail. There is a proper methamatical formula that is followed while this process. Perhaps I can get a written explainaton fromy mechanic and share some time later.
I havent really cared about the FE even when I had apache rtr piston installed (technically 180cc). So even now I hardly notice. But using rough observation i guess i am easily getting over 35kmpl.
    Hi Sanket,

I am quite keen to understand how this mod was done. Also, since you are in Delhi, would it be too much to ask for the details of mechanic who did this job for you (unless you did it yourself !).

If it was indeed a mechanic who did the job, did he procure the parts or did you do it yourself?

    also,
    1) How much did the entire job cost you (Cost and Labor) ?
    2) Any issues since the mod ?

    Cheers,
    Kshitij

Anyways.... as for karizma engined Impulse you're thinking of buying of, go for it if the condition is good. And no such thing as frame cracking or bending happens.
My heartful thanks to you. 🙏🙏

there are reports Hero if going to launch 200 or 250cc version of impulse. What's your view on this?

My 2nd question- I'm thinking of buying 1 impulse fitted with 250cc karizma engine. It's costing me 47k. Some of my experts friends suggested that not to go for it coz it can make chassis crack after sometime leading to risky situations.

P.S. I really love impulse. Please help. Your opinion matters to me.

Have been following this thread since I thought of buying an Impulse in last October. Rich in information related to the bike. Also the experiences shared by the riders are very helpful in understanding the machine more.
Have been using my Impulse since Nov 2015 with lots of ups and downs.
One of them being the Carb Slide Jamming issue. Has anyone found any permanent solution for that..???
Also my tyres have started showing minor cracks all over yet the bike was bought in Nov 2015. Contacted Ceat Customer care and they ruled out the replacement option as they say the tyres were manufactured in Apr 2011 and hence out of their warranty period of 3 years.
Contacted the dealer and he is just giving fake commitments that he will help me in getting the tyres replaced at no cost. This is going on since more than a month. Complained on Hero Customer Care but in vain.
Any suggestion from you guys will be of great help.

    Thanks,
    Nishit
