And yeh, it will start up even during the initial 'boot-up'/self check.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys need urgent help. I got my battery charged yesterday as a temp fix for stator coil issue coz SVC did not have time. Now today my ecu is showing low battery even while riding. Is it safe to ride back with low battery? Just don't wanna get stuck on highway due to battery problem. Someone pls help...

It is always a risk riding the bike with "low battery" warning. I strongly recommend that you get the coil replaced as soon as possible.Originally posted by kundalus View PostGuys need urgent help. All SVCs r overbooked and even if I want they won't be changing it before Wednesday. Half of them don't have it in stock.Originally posted by JN8304 View PostIt is always a risk riding the bike with "low battery" warning. I strongly recommend that you get the coil replaced as soon as possible.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I suggest you replace stator coil, even if that means you need to wait. Not that you can't ride the bike, but you will be assuming a risk / concern in the back of the mind that bike may stall anytime. For peace of mind, get the coil replaced.Originally posted by kundalus View PostAll SVCs r overbooked and even if I want they won't be changing it before Wednesday. Incase you are left no options but to use the bike then please use it within city limits, that way if the bike stalls, you have help/assistance around. Avoid long distance touring.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
It's a risk riding with a bad stator coil. The battery will give up in a day or two depending on how many times you start the bike. So there is a good chance you might end up pushing the bike. Just place an order and fix an appointment to get the coil replaced,Originally posted by kundalus View PostAll SVCs r overbooked and even if I want they won't be changing it before Wednesday. Re: KTM 200 Duke
Thanks s1d, my only concern is I am at clients office which is other side of the city and I need to do at least 20km to reach the SVC. I got my battery charged yesterday as SVC was not in a position to change the coil. And today morning its low. I think is showing low only when engine is hot, coz when I tried riding on cold start it was perfect.Originally posted by s1d View PostIt's a risk riding with a bad stator coil. Let's see, will try it at max I will have get the battery charged somewhere if I am stuck. Fingers crossed.

What brand & rating are these led bulbs? The generic mostly Chinese stuff or something from a brand like 'Cyclops' ?Originally posted by amarendra.ar23 View PostI replaced my stock headlight with led ones. The first one was working fine but all of a sudden the led went bust. So I replaced it with new one.. Now when I switch to high beam it flickers if I open throttle. Is it a battery issue or bcoz I m using different lights?
Have you tried using the stock halogen bulb to see if it flickers? If not, please do. That will let you know if its the led that's causing trouble or something else related to electricals. Apart from that you get the battery checked at the svc to see if it's holding charge and is being charged, these guys have the battery tester that they can connect and check. Even a local battery shop should be able to help you out with some basic voltage readings to check the battery/charging.

The pillion seat seems to be very stiff and the bars near it hurt the pillion thighs.. I have done 12k on my duke n have become comfortable with seat. But when I m riding long distance with a pillion I can't see the suffering.. Any suggestions on pillion seat extension or mod?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
this motorcycle is not made to haul a pillion comfortably over long distances. you could maybe add a bit of foam to the pillion seat to improve cushioning.Originally posted by amarendra.ar23 View PostThe pillion seat seems to be very stiff and the bars near it hurt the pillion thighs.. Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hey guys hope you're all doing well. I'm facing a weird issue with my bike (RS 200 ABS) and since our bikes have mostly the same hardware I thought I'd ask around to hopefully get an answer. Nobody seems to know what is causing this behavior in our thread or my SVC.
The bike seems to not want to start when it gets warm/hot. Here is the issue in detail:
The bike refuses to crank the first time after a while of riding (hot engine), and also when it (rarely) stalls.
The way it happens is, the bike starts fine when it's cold. I warm it up, go for a spin only to get stuck in traffic, thus making the engine now perfectly hot. I park the bike in front of a shop, buy some stuff and crank it and it tries to start but quickly dies. I start it again, and the same result, starter motor noise, the engine tries to go, but then suddenly it dies. The 3rd or 4th try I give it a little bit of throttle and it fires up although in a weird manner. But it starts up nonetheless.
It should be noted that this only occurs when the engine is in operating temperature. Never happens on a cold start, ever.
I already got the throttle body and the fuel tank cleaned, so it's not either of those. Had my stepper motor replaced a while ago as well.
Any idea what might be causing this? Have any of you faced a similar issue?
Any info will be greatly appreciated. I'd like to resolve this once and for all.
Thanks guys and happy riding.

Have you had the guys at the svc connect their diagnostic tool and check for any error codes logged ?Originally posted by Minisoda View PostHey guys hope you're all doing well. Maybe you can get the bike hot and ride to the svc, and then have them connect the diagnostic tool and check the parameters and compare it with another rs200? these ktm svc's these days have the bosch diagnostic tool (go back a couple of pages and you see my previous post on it), this tool gives a readout of various parameters that maybe you can compare.
Now, some of the things that might be causing this issue are:
0. Overheating or a wrong signal sent by the temp sensor.. this can be seen on the diag tool (at least on the ktm it shows the temp in C)
1. Incorrect valve clearances. Get it checked and adjusted to spec.
2. Over heating Regulator-Rectifier - when the bike is hot, try to take readings from the battery at idle and at around 5000rpm. At idle it should be around 13.8 and at 5000rpm at around 14.5volts. Again if possible swap it with one from another bike and check.
3. Choke mechanism i.e the idle control stepper motor(At-least on the ktm). this is mounted on the throttle body.
3. Bad spark plug (try swapping with a know good one). Though this bike has 3 plugs, I guess not all fire always and there is one which is the 'primary'
4. Bad ignition coil or starter motor, that is maybe getting too hot.
I assume your bike is under warranty, if so sit on their heads and maybe write an email to bajaj customer care explaining the issue and that you want it fixed for good.
