Hi guys need help in understanding if some one else Duke 200 user has come across such situation. From past few weeks I have been hearing some weird sound from the rear wheel side. I have showed it to the near Ktm Svc Centre, well the sound just vanished when they removed the chain cover. However, they were able to remove the sound after installing the chain cover. But after some days I'm again able to hear the sound. I have checked the chain cover nuts, its fitted perfectly fine. The sound increases on double seat. Plz do let me know if some one else has got this problem and was able to fix it. I believe the sound is between the chain cover and the chain, but I have checked properly chain does not come in contact with the cover. Any help would be appreciated as this sound is really frustrating. Thanks in advance

Re: KTM 200 Duke
You have take it to the svc and they will give you an estimate and the insurance process. Some service centers accept cashless claims, while some will ask you to pay and then insurance will reimburse. The insurance person will come to the svc and inspect and give approval. Don't tell them your friend crashed, just say you crashed it a couple of days ago on a braking over sandy surface on the road when a dog crossed your path.Originally posted by naughtynaseer View PostMy duke has met with an accident. A friend of mine took the bike and returned with the damaged one. He had his hand fractured and the pillion's face has some damage. How do I claim the insurance and how long will it take to process and return my bike.
These insurance inspectors will always try to lessen your claim or give stupid reasons, but you should be firm and if possible tip the svc supervisor 100 bucks and make sure insurance claim is done in your favor.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Thank you so much for the reply bro!Originally posted by s1d View PostHave you had the guys at the svc connect their diagnostic tool and check for any error codes logged ?
Maybe you can get the bike hot and ride to the svc, and then have them connect the diagnostic tool and check the parameters and compare it with another rs200? these ktm svc's these days have the bosch diagnostic tool (go back a couple of pages and you see my previous post on it), this tool gives a readout of various parameters that maybe you can compare.
Now, some of the things that might be causing this issue are:
0. Overheating or a wrong signal sent by the temp sensor.. this can be seen on the diag tool (at least on the ktm it shows the temp in C)
1. Incorrect valve clearances. Get it checked and adjusted to spec.
2. Over heating Regulator-Rectifier - when the bike is hot, try to take readings from the battery at idle and at around 5000rpm. At idle it should be around 13.8 and at 5000rpm at around 14.5volts. Again if possible swap it with one from another bike and check.
3. Choke mechanism i.e the idle control stepper motor(At-least on the ktm). this is mounted on the throttle body.
3. Bad spark plug (try swapping with a know good one). Though this bike has 3 plugs, I guess not all fire always and there is one which is the 'primary'
4. Bad ignition coil or starter motor, that is maybe getting too hot.
I assume your bike is under warranty, if so sit on their heads and maybe write an email to bajaj customer care explaining the issue and that you want it fixed for good.
Yes they do have this Diagnostic tool from Bosch now. I'm going to ask the SVC politely first, if they don't comply I will send a message to Bajaj (again).
Thanks a lot brother. I'm copying your reply and checking every single point you mentioned. Thanks again. [emoji106]

Re: regarding new bike ktm duke 200
I doubt there is anything really wrong with the bike. Don't simply meddle with the bike, but first ride another Duke 200 and check if you feel the same 'pull'.Originally posted by Sahilthemotographer View Posthello fellow bikers, sunny bro hows u???

It's probably in your head and you need to ride the bike more to get used to how it handles.

Re: regarding new bike ktm duke 200
This is why I don't buy anything anymore that is costly unless its extremely important to do so. I would sweat like a pig if I buy anything that is worth that much like your duke, because once you're stuck you need to fight off for which I'm too scared of people and too lazy to work on the arguments !!Anyways you're stuck now, check another duke to compare and come back here !! And sometimes there is a feeling that bike is falling on one side because of your weaker hand side. When I was younger my small cycle showed such thing and I'd fall down on my right everytime. After I learned cycling completely this problem disappeared. Also, my current "khatara" ambition 135 also gives a wobbling and shaky ride on roads, shockers are gone and jump on the forks at high rpms, the bike is 12 years old and I've nothing left on it to loose so I'm just pulling the interest of my money to its final capacity but since your bike is new and under warranty so you can get free repair!Last edited by Ambition135; 10-15-2016, 09:15 PM.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
These days they have a 'periodic service kit' which contains all the 3 filters (air, oil, fuel). This is mandatory and costs Rs.470.Originally posted by franklin ros View PostHelo guys my bike is due for its 4th service it has ran about 20305kms
How much would this service cost and what are the parts they would change in the service center
Thanks in advance
Spark plug optional/if required. It's usually good for around 10-15k km. If you haven't replaced it earlier, now would be a good time. A new plug is around Rs.180
Engine oil (motul 7100, 1.5l): Rs.1200 , normally 1.4l is sufficient during an oil change.. but some pour/charge for 1.5l
Labor and consumables: Rs.850 approx.
Total around 2700.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
48 and 98 are 50 apartOriginally posted by jeshurun99 View PostHow did u get 98 and 48...?
As per my knowledge RPM1&2 increments/decrements in multiples of 50...
but not multiples of 50 as it normally should be.
Now to the first question.. why 48 and 98. The last I remember, I set it to rpm1@6500 and rpm2@9500rpm a year ago.
I am someone who shifts up at around 5500rpm most of the time, so I hardly see the shift light. But since a couple of weeks, I have been shifting up higher and had forgotten about the shift light.. but at the back of my mind since a couple of days i was thinking "oh there's a shift light right, i don't remember seeing it light up these days"
So this morning on reaching office, I was curious to check the rpm1 and rpm2.. to my surprise rpm2 was at 12500rpm iirc.. I tried reducing it, and it wouldn't go below 12050. I kept pressing the 'set' but it stood still at 12050. I thought a bit and then assumed 'ok, maybe rpm1 is set at 12000rpm and so rpm2 is not allowed below that'
Went in to the rpm1 mode.. and iirc it was at 12050 (or was it 12048, i dont remember) and I started to reduce it.. and viola, I see 11098,11048,10998..
Took me by surprise.. and then i tried increasing it.. and it goes up like 10998,11048..
Turned ignition on-off.. still showing same behavior.
After thinking a bit, I decided let me get rpm1 to as low as it would go.. i keep pressing the 'set' and it goes.. all the way down like 2098,2048,1998 and then 1500!
Phew, so now i try increasing it and i goes up 'normally' like 1550, 2000, 2050.. i take it all the way to 7000 and set it.
Next go to rpm2, and now it goes down (remember earlier it wouldn't budge below 12050).. and I set it at 10000rpm.
Turn the ignition on-off.. double check, and everything is back to normal.
What happened.. I have no idea. Nobody but me rides the bike and if i recollect maybe the mechanic at the svc while resetting the service indicator, might have fiddled with the rpm (i've seen them do it.. and they tell you 'its locked' and all that crap). But how it went to the '8' is still a mystery to me. And the symptom being the shift light did not come on as it should.
Another possibility, a month ago due to heavy rains, the indicator light on console was lit up faintly even when the indicator was off (mentioned it a few pages ago). First they unplugged the connector that goes to the console and blew some compressed air into the connector/socket.. but it was not fixed. they had to remove the switch gear on left and clean it out to resolve the issue. Maybe the disconnect/reconnect of console connector caused it? At the same time, they connected their diagnostic tool (the new green one from bosch) and cleared the dtc (like every time i ask them to), but this was the first time using that new diag tool.
Would appreciate if other owners also check their rpm1 & rpm2 and let me know if there is anyone out there notices a similar behavior.
Who stole my 2 rpm !

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys, can anyone tell me what's the measurement and type of the Allen key required to loosen the bolt holding the front brake pads.
Also, can anyone refer a Good toolkit which can cover most nuts and bolts for both cbr and duke.
Thanks,
Vishal

Re: KTM 200 Duke
To remove the bolt that hold the front brake pads you need a 'torx' (looks like a star, not provided in tool kit) type allen key/bit and not the usual 'hex' allen key (e.g. the one in your tool kit). Am not sure about size though (i think its a t25)Originally posted by Vishal_G View PostGuys, can anyone tell me what's the measurement and type of the Allen key required to loosen the bolt holding the front brake pads.

A basic tool kit like this should be enough for most small jobs Stanley STMT727948 46-Piece 1/4 Drive Metric Socket Set: Amazon.in: Home & Kitchen
Get a 1/2 inch drive socket set (Stanley STMT72795-8 1/2 inch 24-Pieces Drive Metric Socket Set: Amazon.in: Home & Kitchen) if you plan to do stuff that involves larger bolts e.g. tire removal etc.. and a set of torx allen keys.
or keep a 1/4inch drive (link above) and get a set of spanners like these for the tires/axle jobs. Stanley 70394E 8-Piece Matte Finish Shallow Offset Ring Spanner Set: Amazon.in: Home & Kitchen
If you want to know the difference/advatanges of a 1/2 vs 1/4" drive , google it. It's comes down to what you want to do and your budget.. I've given you a couple of suggestions to have enough to do most common repairs.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Thanks for the suggestions Sid. Would definitely look them up.
Upon further checking I found some torx Allen key in my dad's drill set - T27 &T40. T27 was a tiny bit smaller and T40 was quite bigger.
My brake pads are getting worse, the plate and bolt holding them are rusted and I am going for 5th service this Thursday. The asc head keeps on saying the pistons and caliper is fine even though the right side pad is literally new.
Personally, I don't trust them and I really want to stop this rusting which is happening just everywhere.
