If my memory serves me correct, the old ones had four holes and the newer 200s come with six hole, just from memory. The difference between both is not that big, more nuts offer more torque bearing capability and reduces drive line slack and wear.

Correct diagnosis for such cases is better provided after someone rides the bike. Pl get an opinion from your svc.
For starters make sure the tire pressure is right and that the front brake pads are not binding to the rotor{but you'd need to lift the front end up to check if wheel is moving freely}. Another trouble maker could be the cone-set i.e steering stem bearings.

Guys, btw I've recently switched to using adon p additive after going back n forth between adon and system g. Adon p imo seems to make a significant difference in my case especially when added a bit more (say about 25%more).normally it's recommend at 1ml per litre.. I've been using around 15ml per tank and the bike responds real crisp and am able to cruise at 105kmph which earlier used feel a bit vibey/strained. And the FE has gone 'up' by atleast 3kmpl.
I rode down to Chennai from Hyderabad yesterday and the bike felt really comfortable cruising at 100-110 (for 30minutes at some stretches.. my usual speeds at 85-90ish) . For the record, the console showed avg as 74kmph over 650km {none of my breaks exceeded 30mins} and my real-time FE was around 33kmpl
Even in the city there is a similar bump in FE and throttle response.

Iirc the 6 hole sprocket started coming from late 2013.. Mine is Sep 2014 manufactured (bought in oct) and has a 6 hole mounting.

My front rotor became hot/warm after a ride of less than 2 kms and the braking was minimal. Looks like the pads are too tightly pressed against the rotor. Correct?

EDIT: The rotor gets HOT after a 2km ride. My guess would be 50deg C+. Also there was black powder on the rotor, brake pads need to be replaced?

To check if the pads are binding to the rotor one needs to lift the front up on a paddock stand and rotate the wheel and check.
And yes the rotors get Very hot when you use the brakes.. Am not sure of the temp reading, but it's definitely hot enough to cook an omlete or burn your skin if you to touch them. And that black powder is just brake pad dust/dust and is normal. Clean the disc with some soapy water around once in 15 days when it's cold.
Brake pads are usually replaced when they wear out and not because of the dust or heat.

Should the pads be not touching the rotor at all or is there some allowable extent to which the pads can be in contact with the rotor?

No, the pads should only come in contact when you pull in the front brake lever.
If you feel that the wheel is not rotating freely and there is some resistance/sound then you need to get it checked.
And yes - a 2 km ride is sufficient to warm up the disc plate. The only time it should be cold is when you haven't used it even once.

                    Cheers.

Best way to check is , ride the bike for 2-3km without using the front brake. Then check disc plate temperature. If its cold or slightly warm its ok. If its too hot thrn u have to get it checked.

Just wanted to update on the status of the rusting issue of my suspension. Went to the ASC last week as advised by the KTM Service Engineer and ASC guys clicked pictures of the rear suspension. Like always, they tried to pass off the rust as dust and the excuse for suspension damage was KTM's Engineering fault and I quote "KTM has given multiple grooves on the suspension so damage is no issue."

I didn't agree and asked the KTM service Engineer to check physically and so hes supposed to be in kolkata this week.

Additionally, i found rusting at multiple places near the engine area. But the most disturbing was the chassis welding near the T-stem. i don't know if this is a one off case or KTM's quality really this bad.

Guys, i had a question, the chain slider has a raised groove/platform in the middle and the chain is supposed to run on it right? I am asking cause when the chain is in motion it lifts up and moves to the left side corner touching the slider top end. Also, upon opening the front sprocket it was moving a bit, even though nuts was tight. I could push the chain in position but it would still lift up once in motion.Click image for larger version

Looks like the salty Kolkata air is taking a toll on the bike. It's best you take pics and email Bajaj customer care. Keep proof, or these guys will keep dragging it with no proper resolution. I've seen ktms in Chennai but the rust in your case seems a bit excessive. Only a minor sanding down the and a coat of redoxide paint followed by black paint will arrest that rust.

Guys, has anyone opted for Pirelli Diablo Ross ii for the rear? tried searching on this thread about tyres, but there is just too many related topics. Current cost of the same would be helpful.

                            • First fall - Duke 200 damaged

Hi All.. this is my 1st post and it's sad one

yesterday my bike got skid as I had to suddenly apply brake on rough road full of gravels. I was moving around 40-50 km when a small kid(2-3 yrs old ) tried to cross the road. I used both the brakes, but in panic I think I've pulled front brake too much. Bike got downed and me too, fortunately the child was unharmed. Bike got damaged and I feel very sad about that.

She's 4 months old, and I have been riding her very carefully all this time.. but this mishap.. oh my goodness.
                              The damaged parts include -
                              1) right leg guard
                              2) accelerator grip
                              3) rear brake lever
                              4) front brake lever
                              5) right decal sticker
                              6) handle bar

I have kept the bike at service station and they are working on it. The approx. cost is also not provided yet. The guy told me that handle bar cannot be repaired and need to be replaced as it's slightly bent towards right side and it costs around Rs 1070. Can anyone tell me what could be the approx. cost for this job at KTM service station?

Hey guys, I had some questions. The chain on our duke's is supposed to run on the middle of the chain slider on the slightly elevated groove. I am asking as my chain lifts up a bit and touches the left top end of the slider when in motion. You can push the chain back into position once stationary but again when in motion it lifts up.

Also, my throttle response has very bad. There is a lag in the response, after I twist the throttle it takes some time for rev to climb even in neutral. It's like playing Counterstrike in lag.
