Re: KTM 200 Duke
Adjusting the clutch will most probably resolve the lag in response.Originally posted by Vishal_G View PostHey guys, I had some questions. The chain on our duke's is supposed to run on the middle of the chain slider on the slightly elevated groove. I am asking as my chain lifts up a bit and touches the left top end of the slider when in motion. You can push the chain back into position once stationary but again when in motion it lifts up.
Also, my throttle response has very bad. There is a lag in the response, after I twist the throttle it takes some time for rev to climb even in neutral. It's like playing Counterstrike in lag.

I have the exact both issues for sometime and I am taking the bike to service coming week.
Now what you need to check are,
* for stalling when riding -> ugly throttle body (throttle body needs to be cleaned, thanks to our purest Indian fuel
) also Stepper Motor may be the culprit in few cases. Check if your idle RPM is in correct range.
* for speedo 0 -> check and replace Stator coil, also check your battery life.
Hope this fixes both of our Dukes

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I just got my throttle body cleaned a month back. This was when i was had some rain water inside the tank. He cleaned it but this happens a lot on cold engine. I even got the battery checked then. And when in hot, the bike takes lot of effort to start. I have to literally push ignition sitch for good 5-6 seconds. I think some faulty sensor might b the culprit. Coz the entire speedo goes off when m around 60.Originally posted by niku View Post390 rider here.

Edit: idle rpm are stable and haven't increased even for once. I got my stator coil changed in March. Will try yo visit the svc and check.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
So, as of now my ownership experience for the last 3000 kms has been very sour. Mileage for 9.10 Ltrs was 283 km. There is a continuously irritating noise from the front sprocket area. Severe rusting, 3rd class service and now bikes heating weirdly and my clutch adjustment nut is somehow loose. Even after adjusting chain at every 500 kms. I don't enjoy riding it anymore and looking to get rid of it if I can't fix these irritating issues. Even the front handle bearings have gone bad.
Seriously, a regrettable purchase.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
you can set it to whatever you like. check the manual for information on how to set the rpm1 and rpm2.Originally posted by dmax View Poston a ktm duke 200 whats your rpm 1 and rpm2? thanx
it just provides a visual indication via the shift light. apart from that I don't see any difference in performance.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I don't remember the exact numbers, but RPM 1 is close to 8K and RPM 2 is close to redline! helps me avoid hitting the cut-off limit. If you don't mind can you share the price of the Ross ii? you can PM me if you don't wish to disclose it on open forum.Originally posted by dmax View Posti just had installed diablo rosso ii on my ktm duke 200.. if weather permits il try its performance this sunday...

Re: throttle problem
Between 6k-10k kms... The bike's sound changes...it's normal and it will reduce.. Sorry to break the bad news but you will never be able to hear that crispy new duke sound anymore.Originally posted by Hriday borah View PostI owe a duke 200,it ran 9500 km till date ,I don't why now a days the engine is not producing the sound like it use to before and it can I know what may be,even when I am close to top speed bike sound is low
If you want more sound go for a aftermarket exhaust slip-on.
Goto the service centre and you will find that every Duke has a particular tone of exhaust... Upon asking the mechanic... I came to know that...it's bcz of various levels of carbon deposits in different areas in ur bike's engine. Don't really know if it's true. Can someone confirm this.
That was the reason i was asking a couple of days before regarding the engine decarbonizing.
Hey Sid, i didn't get adon p... But got system g for my bike.. I did feel improvement in throttle response.
Thank u bro.

Hi all. I want your opinion on something. Yesterday i was for a ride on the mountain and rain caught me. Today i saw green stain on the pipes. I dont know if it has something to do with it... Btw its Not much but noticable. Here are some pics
Bike is new so it's still under warranty. Its 2014 model bought febrary 2016.
Do you think its normal? Thanks in advance!

Re: throttle problem
the exhaust note does change over time i.e. becomes a bit quieter. probably related to carbon deposits but i think its mostly at the catcon section of the exhaust and a bit on the valves.Originally posted by jeshurun99 View PostGoto the service centre and you will find that every Duke has a particular tone of exhaust... I dont think decarb is necessary at-least till 50-60k km. There is a juggad way that some folks use for decarb.. i.e. using water (google it)
Don't let these mechanics open up engine parts in the name of decarb. It's better to run it with a bit of deposits than trust some of these mechanics.
Just get the throttle body cleaned at say every 25k km and the fuel injector too (i have seen yahama have a fi cleaner machine at their svc).not seen one at ktm/bajaj.. and so I stick to using system g / adon p at regular intervals. No problems so far for me.
Stick to good quality fuel and everything should run normal. If an additive is making a positive difference, then good (like in my case). For initial couple of tank ful fuel use around 2ml per litre and then you can continue at 1ml per litre. System G is good, but i am noticing that adon p seems even better.

those are the coolant hose pipes. and the green stain is the coolant.Originally posted by ivan1985 View PostHi all. I want your opinion on something. i've seen coolant spill from the expansion tank (i.e. the one near the petrol tank) especially when its over filled and the bike goes over bumps/steep inclines. this leak can drip down over the radiator fan/engine area. If you remove the petrol tank cover, you will see that the expansion tank has a vent pipe that is open and this is where the coolant comes out from. This is normal when you over fill and drive on steep inclines/bumps.
Please see the pics on this page: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...-duke-768.html
normally you shouldn't be seeing leaks from the coolant hoses. first clean that area thoroughly and drive around, let the fan come on and observe if there are any leaks. Do this a few times over the week and if it recurring, you night have to get it checked at the dealer to see if the joint (hose clamp) or hose pipe is damaged/not holding up properly.
