Advice you to do the same if you are too annoyed by the sound.

Lubing/servicing the chain doesn't help in eliminating the sound. It just suppresses it for a while and then the sounds reappears.
So can I go to svc and ask them to replace all of those things ?

At how many kms did you replace your chain sprocket set?

Yes bro u can tell them to change the whole chain sprocket set. It includes all that i have mentioned earlier.

I changed mine at 21k kms...bcz i used to lube it every week/500kms which ever is earlier. And adjust the chain slack when required.

Till 19k kms i didn't get much sound... But the last 2k kms irritated me the most so i changed it before a long ride to be on safe side.

My duke is around 12K bro the noise and all is very annoying. Past over a month not able to enjoy the ride.
Will they do it in warranty ?

No, it will not be covered in warranty. I got the chain adjusted today sound reduced a lot. But it still is annoying 😤

bro, unless you sit on their head and pester some folks dont go a good job.
all this 'vague' explanation of noise will not get you a sure shot direct answer on any forum.
you have to go to the mechanic and sort it out after identifying the root cause.
some of the basic things are proper chain adjustment/alignment and lubrication. 12k is a very short duration to wear out a chain/sprocket if it has been maintained correctly.
If its not worn, then they should be fixing it up under warranty. The svc folks will always try to give reasons and avoid warranty, its up to you to stay put and get the work done.
You can also write an email to bajaj customer care and ktm and politely explain the issue and say that the svc is not helping out. If you do not keep stuff in writing, they can always say that you never complained earlier.(always mention your comments on job card.. don't simply do it verbally if they are not able to fix it the first time.. make sure they open a job card and you write down something like 'under observation'/'issue not fixed')

And finally, one must also understand what is a correct chain setting/alignment.. our awareness is what saves us at times. So go ahead, read the owners manual and some info on chain adjustment/alignment (simply put, after setting the correct chain slack as per manual.. make sure that the markings on either side of the swingarm on the adjusters are at the same position... you will see 3 '-' marks and both sides should be at the same position)

Cheers bro , I wanted to know in general, my bike is at 23000km , for the first 10000km I didn't look after my chain , soo I assumed my first chain life would be less, there is a noise even for me, but not too much.

S1d , I had a question. While adjusting the chain it should be done from both sides right? The reason I am asking is that my svc guys always do it from the sprocket side.

                        Short answer YES.
The initial adjustment is done at the sprocket side, and as i said earlier, one has to make sure that the adjusters on both sides are at the same position. so after adjusting at the sprocket side, they need to check and adjust at the other side if needed. If not, your wheel will not be aligned in a straight line and also the chain will not run straight and cause more strain/wear on the drive components and handling issues.

Please read page 85 on the link below (or your owners manual) and make sure they do it this way.
OOPS! We ran out of fuel. The page you’re looking for is beyond our reach. Let’s get you back on track!

a little more slack is ok, but it shouldn't be lower than recommended. My personal preference is close to an inch in slack (considering i weigh 90kg and sometimes carry a pillion.. because when one sits on the bike, the chain tightens up and i dont want it to end up too tight). A very lose chain will start hitting the swingarm and cause a taka-tak-tak noise.
One other thing before getting the chain adjusted, try and bump up the rear mono shock setting up by 2 points.. the stock setting is at '3', ask them to set it at 5 i.e. two click up. then set the chain slack as per manual. The stock suspension is set on the softer side IMO and might cause the chain slapping noises in some cases if the rider is on the heavier side. Again suspension setup (preload/sag) is another topic but from my experience, bumping up the rear by two clicks is a good starting point

Thanks for the explanation s1d. I am a bit on the heavier side and have been feeling that the rear suspension is a bit bouncy/plush. I will get it changed as per the load. Also, i have ordered the paddock stand, so will try my hand at chain adjustment.

                            Hey bro,

I can't comment much on your chain's current condition without seeing it in person. But if you would have maintained it from day 1, you can get more life. Maintain the chain slackness now properly so that the noise will be less, best is to find the sweet spot. And maintain the chain at that slackness only. It is advisable to keep the chain a bit loose than too tight. But note that if of too loose u will get tak tak sound, and if its too tight, u might risk breaking the chain as yours is old now.

I changed mine at 21k kms thou the noise was not so much bcz i wanted to have a spare set of chain for my long rides..

I got my new duke today. Have a couple of questions:

                                1) Rain seeps through the gap between rider and pillion seat and gets collected on the battery. Click image for larger version

ID:	1939206 I'm worried that there is chance of short-circuit of battery terminals, although its looks unlikely but still there is a possibility.

                                2) I can't seem to locate the 14-pin molex connector which is used to install the hazard light adaptor. I tried looking for it under the pillion seat. Can any 2016 model owners share the connector location?

                                3) Does the installation of above hazard light adaptor affect the bike warranty?

                                Thanks!
