Has some fun over the weekend.. In Rain & Mud with fellow members @theironhorse99 , @Ajay Vishwanath and @mustang28
    A cbr250, r3, rc200, zmr and my D200.
We encountered nice smooth highway, 2 km stretch of pure gravel(gravel the size of golf balls and bigger throughout.. a road under construction) and finally some slush and a damp lake bed ! Should praise the Michelins.. they held pretty well without any punctures or knicks after that 2+2km of gravel road. The first time i went over that stretch i was a bit cautious, but on the way back was full on doing 60-70kmph with a bit of counter-steering to balance the bike thoroughly enjoyed it.
And some of the small bits and pieces on the bike that I am glad KTM provided.. the nice plastic bits such as the monoshock protector+mudflap , the mudguard near the exhaust and the wonderful chain guard (which ensured not a bit of muck was thrown on the chain).
Almost 23k km and still puts a smile on my face every time i take it out.
Only terrain I believe that's left for me check out on my Duke is the snowy mountains!

Guys, I am facing rusting issue on most of the bolts and exposed metal parts on my duke 200. Please advise how to remove rust without causing any side_effect/damage?
        Thanks for the help

it's probably surface rust i assume. get a scotch brite pad and scrub off the rust.
if the parts are not visible externally, then you can apply a coat of red oxide primer followed by a spray of black paint(from those paint cans)
for bolts, after cleaning simply spray on a bit of wd40 or some spray-able grease like nulon grease spray (if the bolts are not externally visible).. you might have to do this every 10-15 days.

              #11406

Continuation to the above post, it was the Radiator fan relay that was faulty.

16 MIL (flashes 1x long, 6x short) - Error level conditions:
-> Radiator fan motor - input signal too high

Above was the MIL message in my case due to faulty relay.

Also this faulty relay kept the fuel pump running as long as the bike stayed on (I didn't observe this myself at first, mech showed it to me when I took the bike to svc), hence the engine was shutting off when rpm fell below 3k rpm.

I have been riding the bike for past 5 days and issues seems to be resolved.

Hope this helps if someone encounters similar issues. Relay cost was ~140 bucks.

As @s1d said even faulty coolant temp sensor might spin the radiator fan for sometime after switching off the ignition key, even mech agreed to this.

Don't you think, spraying lubricant like WD40 or grease on a bolt is risky, because bolt and nut might come loose?

Thanks for the help S1d, I will try to remove the rust using scotch brite.
Also, chain slapping noise has increased on my bike even though bike was serviced 800 kms ago.

Best would be to replace those bolts... Else u can use WD40 to clean the rust away and prevent it from further rusting.

Be careful with WD40. As it causes bolts to loosen up overnight. If you spray, spray on top & clean immediately.

I am having this weird problem I can hear some tak tak noise from my chain slack or sling arm I am not sure yes I have lubed the chain a week back but still the sound persists.

The sound is more when I accelerate if I leave the accelerator the sound goes off.
The sound is also more like some sheet is rubbing to tyre or something when it's rotating.

If I go on pot holes I can hear sound as if there are some loose bolts.

Bike is cool only these sounds from chain make me disappointed.

I have the same proble. An irritating tak tak sound at lower rpms, and my bike was serviced 1 month ago barely a 1000 kms done. Already lubed the chain 200 kms earlier.

Funny thing is this noise goes away post service for some time.

have you lubed the front sprocket by taking off the cover ?. asking this because generaly no matter how you lube the chain ,the front still runs dry so make it a practise to lube it specially

For me svc guys intimated me that sound comes from rear hugger.

It only comes when I go through some pothole or bumps as some part loosed or broken. :banghead:

The same was with my bike too... Did a replacement of chain, sprocket, chain slider/guide. All the sounds vanished off.
Advice you to do the same if you are too annoyed by the sound.

Lubing/servicing the chain doesn't help in eliminating the sound. It just suppresses it for a while and then the sounds reappears.

When do you guys recommend to do the first oil change? After first 100-200kms or during first service at 1000kms?
