      Hi,
My Duke 200 has done 32k+ in less than 2 years, going for next service.. I feel it lacks in acceleration now. Please suggest me guys what are the things to be taken care in this service.. Haven't replaced clutch plates yet so planning for that. Sprockets changed twice. Would valve clearance and throttle body cleaning be helpful to get the acceleration better..

Throttle cleaning is what needs to be done. You'll feel the difference in throttle response.

I got a friend in his early twenties who has got some back problems after getting his D390.
But i think its more to do with his being obese.
He is 6ft and fairly new to riding and must have done pot-holed stretches of road sitting relaxed on the hard seat + hard suspension of the ktm.

Otherwise he still swears by the comfort of his Duke and is happy to get the suspension setting to Hard again !!

          Cheers.

I used my duke and went on 2 rides after getting it (got it last month ) one long raid was about 500 Kms and one more was 360 Kms and for first few days really i felt like my footrest i landed my leg directly on my gear shift lever and on brakes in traffic then i got used to it.

And after a week of using my bike regularly i got irritated and i just consulted and put a net kinda cover (photos i will upload tomorrow) for my seat which also looks good and feels comfort after that my seat got used to my Butt or either way. then i never felt hard it was like superb. and then only i took for a long trip in weekends and it went well i never felt discomfort . So if you want you can adjust any time.

And i like the duke, i use it for touring, and really awesome bike when i get used to footrest. and you will really love your bike riding in traffics its like the sound makes you to rev awesome. i love it.

and no hardships if you are a true RE lover go for Thunderbird. as usual duke suspension is KTM is way far better than RE in all means. but both different cases so never can compare both.

and if you feel suspension is too hard and u will only run on a high way i recommend you to reduce the rear shox notch by 2 it will make you feel more comfort (not recommended if you hit a pothole above 60 KMPH) i used to reduce whenever i travel longer in high ways you will never feel small small obstacles in .

But i will say truely i am a kinda off-road guy and the suspension is meant for offroad if you travel in High ways and wanted confort as i said reduce the notch , everything has its job to do , just have to use them.

But it's all about you getting used to it.
I would worry more about the riding stance than the suspension. I have never felt comfortable on a duke due to it's awkwardly set foot pegs.
          I love RC's stance though.
Dear All, thanks a lot for your valuable inputs. Today I have ridden my friend's d200 (6 month 3k kms old) for almost 300kms solo on expressway, potholed road, bumpy and bouncy 2 lane road, little off road, heavy traffic.

I must say d200 is just like devil on road. My bum is alright, little bit more fatigue compared to zma but manageable. I think I will manage long rides on d200. This is definitely a hooligan bike, awesome pull....

you will get comfortable with the seating/footpeg positions after using it for a couple of weeks.. you could leave the suspension preload setting at the stock (#3) or bump it up or down a couple of notches depending on the terrain and load you plan to encounter.

Guyss...really dissappointed with the power of the bike.. my bike aint having that pulling at the first and second gears....it feels like a 150cc bike... i have never ridden any d200 other than my bike and thats why i never noticed this issue.
Yesterday tried couple of bikes of some of my friends(ws awstruck with the power) and then only i noticed this issue..
I thought like this was normal with the bike all these days.. also my exhaust note too is different from the normal d200s...its pretty bassy....
At signals i cant even cop up with 150cc bikes... really disappointed!!!

Clocked 3500kms n 3 month old bike it is!

the first two gears are short and you have to shift up higher in the rpm to pull away.. its just how the d200 is.. its needs to be kept on the boil especially in the first 3 gears.
are you telling us that your friend's d200 felt different wrt power ?
The exhaust note will change over a period of time and at around 6000-8000km you will notice what i mean.

Yes . I tried on two bikes of my friends...both are bought within the same timeperiod as mine.... but the power of mine is very poor compared to these two bikes...
Riding style of them are too identical to mine...no too hard neither soft throttling..

I donno why my bike feels underpowered! :/

Have u checked the fuel pumps? Ive ridden my friend's duke it had this issue, power delivery was poor or very bad, its something with the fuel pumps, maybe need to get em cleaned or replaced, just a thought

It may sound foolish, but first check and ensure the tire pressures are correct, and one more thing is to try filling up the tank with fuel from a different petrol bunk.
Since your bike has done just 3500km, it really isn't normal for you to face such a glaring difference in performance compared to another duke200.
And if the difference is so glaring, just take it to the svc and show it to them.. there are host of other small and big things that might be causing the trouble.. clutch, fueling (dirty filter, bad fuel, bad fuel pump pressure), brakes binding etc..

will be taking the bike to svc tomorrow...hope they wont be saying the usual dialogue of 'being normal'

Appreciate your effort bro!! Yes would try that..i hope im maintaining tyre pressures correctly (28-35). Need to try fuel from another bunk..

the day i foind the issue, gave my bike to the service head to take a spin..he told like he had doubt regarding the silencer and told me to give it on tuesday.
