  • Duke's acceleration is just a notch below that of CBR250R. (no offence to anyone btw , just facts)

Please have a look at the drag race b/w D200, CBR250R and R15.

    CBR250R vs R15 vs Duke 200 - Drag Race - YouTube

So, wouldn't be difficult to guess D200 v/s Ninja 250.

    Sorry for OT.

    • look, this is a Ninja owner and a Duke fan speaking...the way both of them are built. Initial pickup yes the duke being more towards city use does have initial torque. I even believe it can beat the Ninja 250R till 60kmph. But that's about it. while the Duke will continue to pull towards higher speeds by changing gears, the Ninja's pickup at higher revs is seriously scary for city use.
so with the stop and go condition's in the City, I wouldm't bet anything on the Ninja, but on open roads I wouldn't think twice about picking it

and where your referring to pickup, it differ's to what pickup you are considering here.
taking a corner at 60kmph, Ninja will exit and "pickup" as if the duke was never moving. But if your talking from a stand still positions, the Ninja wouldn't even get time to blink before the duke jumps ahead

      • C'mon guys move on
Duke 200, CBR 250, Ninja 250 : great bikes, money well spent.
Better bike? You decide, not all your opinions apply to others
On paper stats are only numbers, skill is what really matters.

Whatever your choice, enjoy your bike, and enjoy the ride. Cheers.

        Akras ALWAYS a good option
Build quality and sound of akra is top notch!
But, for my project, I'm using MIVV SUONO Carbon from ZX6R.

I can't wait for the final product too

        • @blackbeest -- it depends on the rider too .. as per the stats and graphs shown in xbhp duke review , the duke shoud absolutely outrun the cbr250 in 0-60 , 0-100 and roll on accelerations ..

          • About to get Duke'd soon...so excited! Within a week.

Just for comparisons sake took a test ride of the Duke and Pulsar NS 200 back to back. It wasn't much of a test ride because the shoowroom guys were being very stingy and cautious with test rides. Apparently a guy came in a week ago, took a bike for a test ride, pulled out a gun and stole the bike. So more of a first impression. The main point that comes across, like everyone mentioned, is that the pulsar feels like it has more of a linear acceleration and the duke has more of a 'jerks you back' acceleration. Though I liked the sitting position of the pulsar more (maybe coz I use to own a 180) bt the duke packs the real punch. To sum it up, the pulsar is a bike in which you can occasionally ride out in your shorts and pick up some eggs and bread but on a Duke, if a Duke could speak it would say 'How dare you? How dare you use me to picks up eggs??' It feels like a crazy bike and that's the way it's meant to be ridden.

                  • Stop Comparing

                    Guys,
Please keep this thread clean. Those who have to compare bikes, there is a different section. This section is intended for this bike only. Past 10 pages have been a waste of a read.
It's really frustrating when someone is searching for an information and what he encounters is all this bashing of each others bike.
All of us needs to understand that we human beings have different parameters to rate any product. Even our rating varies for those factors. So everyone is expected to have different opinions. Accept those opinions if you like them or move on if otherwise.

Sorry for this Gyan , but felt it necessary!

I won't be changing handlebar straight away, I would just try to re-orient the stock handlebar if possible.

When ever i go thorugh this thread i see some or the other person complaining of this "went off", "that happened", "This issue", "that issue!".

But still Duke is the favourite of all wow!!

People are spending 1.37L for this Duke and there are so many complains!! What is the reason, even after so many months of launch!! still there are some or the other niggles!!
But hats off to you all owners for your positive responses on Duke!!!
A very nice machine but i guess why not a 100% satisified every customer!!!
It is because people hardly post their thoughts when they are satisfied. I can give you examples of many Duke owners enjoying their Bikes rather finding faults. As far as my Bike is concerned It's completely fine. Minor issues happened and rectified by SVC people. Fork seal leakage. engine leakage, coolant spillage/leakage, engine seizures etc. etc. Never happened on my Bike. I can also confirm that 90% of Dukes in Kolkata never experienced them.

Can you name any one Bike that has trully 100% satisfied every customer? What if the customer himself is to be blamed for Ripping and not maintaining his bike??
BTW I met one Duke owner who was complaining that his bike was not taking him to 50 or 60KMPH in the 1st gear itself. Now do you think KTM can satisfy him with a 1.35L OTR 200cc Duke?

+1 I just can't understand why some people(mostly non owners) come to this thread and start comparing Duke and Pulsar or CBR in this thread itself. Or start fighting with false facts without even riding one. Initially the Duke thread was very much clean and informative.

A note to the Mods: After buying Duke and following/contributing/getting help from this thread it's a pain to see that the last few pages gone in waste.

BTW, one small update. Met with an accident a few days back. A Guy hit my front tire(from sideways) while overtaking. That was no ones fault or maybe both were guilty. As I was stationary so neither me nor my bike fell from the impact(a considerable one). The guy fell from his bike but wasn't injured. I helped him to get on his feet and inquired whether he is fine. He was fine and went off with his Bike. Then the thought came to my mind whether my Bike is Ok or not. I examined the Bike and to my surprise nothing happened(touch wood). Tires, Rim, Fork, Disc(though it was on the other side of the tire) and surprisingly even the front fender was completely OK. Just a bit of scratches around the fender(which are quite hard to find in one glance) and one even smaller scratch around the lower part of the fork.
Till now I am quite happy with the Build quality of my Duke.
