the seal leak can be due to wrong mudguard design, the mudguard does not guard the front shockers at all, in racing dukes they do not have mudguards but have special pipe shaped covers for shockers, any other ideas
KTM dealers are claiming new dukes are improved, can any early duker confirm the claims, one being the swing arm coverLast edited by premsaharan; 07-19-2012, 12:28 PM.

Small Comparo of NS with Duke,Might be OT
Yesterday went to the Bajaj service centre for my dukes service (just water wash and chain cleaning). First time i saw the Pulsar 200Ns in flesh. That looks big.. Felt it took lot of cues from duke.especially tank cover, radiator guard, mud quards
I was offered test drive before i asked them,PS: Only duke owner in the town.
Started the engine ,felt the engine sound is non existent compared to the duke. took the bike for solo ride for a good 4kms.
Now the positives:
1.Gear shifts are uber smooth, first to neutral is a breeze unlike duke.
2.Engine is super smooth.revved up to 6k rpm the engine didnt feel any stressed.
3.Seats comfy enough for long rides.
4.Suspension is comfy not hard not too soft fits for Indian roads.
5.front and real mud guards are adequate enough unlike dukes.
Things i dint like
Not exactly negatives)
1.Quality of paint/mud guards/plastic are not at par with duke.
2.Missing the neck jerking acceleration ,220 is even better.
3.Exhaust note is very soft. After riding duke my expectations are higher.
4.Felt the vibes at the seat, tank cover even at low rpms.not much at handle bar though
5.Handles good, but not as flick-able as duke.Mostly due to the more turn-radius.
6.Coolant cap hidden wisely, but for topping need to remove seat ?? ,no thanks.
7.Foot pegs looks flimsy.
IMO, NS lacks the character .. Looks beefy but lacks the punch and grunt.feels n runs(refinement) like unicorn( my first bike and ridden over 50k)
Met few guys at Arpita Bajaj,Hassan two people booked 220 instead of 200NS .According them its the pickup that spoiled the deal.
But for me,If duke wasnt released i would have gone for 200NS for its VFM, but duke killer?? seriously??
After riding NS ,I love my duke more

Yes that's what he said...Originally posted by hunkofgals View Postu mean to say it'l become mroe softer ?
You can use Royal Enfield cover. It covers the entire motorcycle properly. I am using one.Originally posted by Rohan200ns View Postwhich bike's cover is a perfect fit for duke ?
duke is a new bike and a specific cover for it might be very difficult to find ...
Have you seen the cover personally? How is the quality?Originally posted by hunkofgals View Postthe KTM itself sells the bike cover
which is around some 720 Rs /-
Akrapovič exhaust can be a good option.. Keep us posted about your planOriginally posted by stanley17 View PostHello guys..
been doing some research to the Duke's exhaust system.
I'm planning to make a custom mid-pipe, so the Duke can "breathe" more without the cat
I'm hoping with this project I'll get more power from the Duke, and of course great sound from it
I will update my project on Saturday

Complain about this to the svc.. the bike goes to 139 without any problem..Originally posted by wrench View Posthey guys I m new to this thread , my ktm is 3 months old and just get it(2nd)serviced yesterday but the bike is not responding well after 115 kmph , it takes a lot of time to reach 125+, even when I tried to roll it on downside of a bridge it didn't show any chances of getting over 130, chain tension is fine, everything is fine in the bike but I don't know how many horses have gone to sleep out of 25

+1...Originally posted by NiXTriX View Post
The reason is very simple bro.. The guys who have had problems are cribbing over here and the rest are out on the road enjoying their ride. And some people are just overly paranoid.
There are plenty of Duke owners I've met and know for a fact that they have no issues with their bikes. I can safely vouch for atleast 25 Dukes in Bangalore.
The bike is not entirely maintenance free nor is it a huge maintenance whore. Well, I guess all bikes need a little TLC.
Frankly the greatest problems I've actually seen in all my visits to the SVC has been crashed/dropped bikes. And most of them rider errors.
OT- I did finally get the R15 also. Thanks for your help.

After following the bike for 9months and booking I have some queries which might pull me back from buying this beast

@chintan & all owners regarding the Saree guard I didnt find a foot rest for women sitting in sideways can it be fitted separately if yes which bike spare would it actually fit or should we live with out footrest for saree guard.
My second query is about the tyres how safe are the TVS ones which are given with P200ns, I heard mixed reviews in this thread. (I personally own Apache RTR and I hate the tyres it skids a lot)
Coming to others aspects which are being discussed as -ves for P200ns here by some fellow Xbhpians
1.vibes
- I have lived with RTR and I never found any discomfort with vibes
2.Mileage- Boss My RTR160 gives 45 and any thing above 40 in P200ns I would jump like kid who has seen bagfull of candies
3.pickup- I have driven my friends Duke atleast for 500kms and I dnt think duke is too good in accelerating at higher speeds (80 to 100), I felt ZMR was better performer than Duke here (personal experience
) and I expect from the previous reviews P200ns will beat both in this aspect (linear acceleration)
I know how much I researched to actually shift myself to Bajaj as I was true baja hater till P200ns was launched and after that
.
May be my post might be OT but I think it would actually help some other propective buyers who share similar thoughts as me.
PS- booked Red but Fell in love with Yellow when I saw it nagpur few days back (going with yellow

Just a thought.
Do you guys think the presence of front and rear discs on opposite sides is a designed to offer better weight balance? It occurred to me yesterday. Is this common in all dukes(690, 990)?BUt then I was thinking what about other sport bikes where the two discs are on the same side?
How do they manage weight balance then? The hero always RIDES into the sunset!

What kind of review you are giving??? The jerking acceleration can be found in an Fi bike, do you know that? P220 Fi has more acceleration than the P220 Carb.Originally posted by vidy View PostYesterday went to the Bajaj service centre for my dukes service (just water wash and chain cleaning). I really can't understand why people has to compare each & every aspect of a bike which may have similar engine components wrt Duke but overall, it's again a different bike!
Comparing R1 & Fireblade is understandable but comparing comparing a CBR250 & Ninja250 is unfair!
Duke has FI & is for enthusiasts & P200NS is carb & for the masses. To say P200NS lacks character & is same as Unicorn is really BULL CRAP. We all know Unicorn is nothing against P200NS.
Why does people must compare a P200NS with Duke!! Comparing to a certain limit is understandable but to compare thread bare of two non-similar bike is really pathetic."HASTA LA VICTORIA, SIEMPRE !" - Chesigpic

First, He didnt rode 200NS ,Hes just quoting from previous reviews .Read the lines in bold.
Second, Where exactly its contrary to my post, He said ZMR accelerates better than Duke (that too at 80 to 100, i doubt that even) and there by some review he concluded NS will accelerates better than duke and ZMR

Then what? is there anything like we shouldnt compare an FI bike with Carb

Its unfair cause both are priced far apart,in india it matters

did i say 'NS is unicorn' i just said its feel/run(refinement) is, but not its pickup..
Why does people must compare a P200NS with Duke!!
Simple,Cause we can compare
Comparing to a certain limit is understandable but to compare thread bare of two non-similar bike is really pathetic.
Not similar ?where? both are Nacked bikes, both priced closer,Got similar Horse power. Since one got FI,theres nothing like we shouldnt compare

It is indeed unfair to compare both. Both bikes belong to entirely different families and the comparison cannot be fair. If I am not mistaken Bajaj also did suggest that both the bikes are in different leagues and serve entirely different purposes.Originally posted by vidy View PostAnswers in Bold,

Also not the right thread to do.
But, IMO, the comparison actually doesnt stand good.
The following are in support of claim:
NS is a total VFM bike, with the features it boards at 85K ex-showroom.
DUKE is NO LESS than NS in VFM quotient with its top notch features at 1.3lakh ex showroom
So, is duke a better bike than NS??
Hell yes, but for than u are spending out 45k more for those extra features which makes it better.
Thus it comes to one simple rule.--
It one has budget issues, then go for NS.
Else Duke will be the apt choice.
PS- Have ridden neither of them, so my opinion is purely based on theoretical facts.sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.
